- Part 3 of the Ficus cutting I took from my Ficus Benjamina in July 2019. In the last year I repotted it and let it grow.

Thanks Ian
Broski!!! I agree taking those lower roots off was a good idea. Nice repot and prune. It seems happy enough. I love the trunk line...maybe my favorite tree of yours. Cheers 😎🍺🍺
Cheers bro the trunk line is decent! i like it too!
Hi Ficus really looking good for four years of pruning it turns the tree look well ,,,,,
cheers :)
Wow, this was a cutting?? What a cool little tree, I already think it’s pretty damn special. Right move with those roots too. Maybe look at some “fronts” when it goes into that new, bigger pot in the future.
Cheers bro.
cheers bro. yeah just a tiny twig i snipped off the other ficus and now it has beefed up load and has become its own thing!
Wow that ficus is a monster! 95% roots chopped and it keeps on growing like a beast! The air roots look great.. can't get mine to grow them because of the wickedly dry air here. I managed to convince it to grow two low down by keeping a clingfilm tent hanging from the lowest branch around the pot for about 6 months so it kept it humid around there. But yours is growing them profusely, great work!! Trunk looking good too 👍
Cheers Dave, yeah the dry air will do your root no good. I think im just lucky here as a lot the moisture gets trapped in the grow tent, so its way more humid than normal, allowing them go wild!
Yes bruva! Great root battle. Nice
haha cheers, im not sure if its a battle, but at least i always win!
Amazing work🎉🎉🎉❤❤
cheers, yeah it has come along very nicely ...and quickly. its a good species for fast development :)
Nice tree glad to see its coming along nicely. The trunk thickness looks great
Cheers :) yeah the trunk has thickened up so quickly!
Thanks!
🙏thanks
Great looking tree! 🌳
Cheers :)
Looking good Ian. Amazing aerial roots. Thanks, keep growing
Cheers Matt, the aerial roots are so cool!
Very nice tree. I decided to repot a Ficus benjimina air layer today. It was losing more leaves than it should have been, and I got rid of most of the old, rotting sphagnum from the air layer process. Hopefully that was the problem, and the tree will perk up now.
cheers, yeah hopefully that will sort it out! i think it will be better off with out rooting sphagnum for sure!
@@BackGardenBonsai Nope - it died. It would have died anyhow, I think. But it was the lesser of three air layers, and the other two are doing well.
@@Dave_0993_I ah thats a shame. some times it cant be avoided, at least the other two are fine!
Daggum, that was some killer root work! And just look how thick that trunk is now! Holy smokes!
Did the aerial roots you trimmed at the beginning grow, or did they dry up and start to shrivel? I’ve been curious about this for some time.
Typically I've found if aerial roots don't make it into the dirt before the start of winter they usually dry up and die so it's even doubtful they where alive at the start of the video.
@@johnmichaelrutherford3514 Intriguing…thank you John
you can tell if they are alive or not as the tips are white. i didnt really pay attention, but i think most are alive. i tend to pour water on them from drying out. BUT the ones that have touched the soil will take off and thicken way more, so the soil is better for them
Looking good brother. 👍 but it deserves a bigger pot. So the roots can run a little
cheers. for sure. it just beefed up way quicker than i ever imagined haha
love this channel, you inspired me to do an apple from seed when everyone else said not too. could you do a video show casing all your collection one day?
cheers, i dont kno why any one would against apple trees hahah. but im glad you did it. and one day i will do that video. right now everything is just jammed into a corner and its not ideal to film that as you cant see anything
What soil do you use for your ficus bonsai? Looks like yours is doing amazingly well.
Cheers, its mostly molar clay then some perlite and compost too
Update soon?? 🍾
i think at the start of the new year if i remember correctly
Foist!!!
Dueling insomniacs 😵💫
