  • When you set up a new tank, you must cycle it to ensure that there is enough beneficial bacteria established to support your fish. Most people cycle their aquariums without fish, but then they are unable to add fish to their tank for over a month after setting it up, and that's no fun. So, in this video, I will show you how to cycle a tank with fish.

If its a smaller tank, how much do u take out? Is it still around 70%?

Yes. For the first week or so, you want to be doing water changes of around 70-80%, as the beneficial bacteria hasn’t established yet and the tank is liable to get ammonia spikes which will hurt or kill your fish.
