I've been secretly using foils and/or stone coat on secondhand furniture tops, makes beautiful tops that have too much damage to refinish and on Formica tops that aren't really wood, and then refinishing/restoring the rest of the piece. I even did a really long 6 drawer dresser with a lit river channel like on the Stonecoat Channel, that sold for a lot. With the overabundance of secondhand furniture made of beautiful old forest woods, I hate seeing them go to the dump and people choosing to buy cheap stuff from Ikea and places, when older nicer, better built furniture can be made to look modern with a little ingenuity and time.

Very cool! I am hoping they will come out with more non-metallic films. This is a great solution for vertical surfaces.
Even if it’s a high gloss foil, applying the matte UTC is a great way to take the sheen down. 😊

I have a bunch of her foils and haven’t done anything with them...I have the double kraken turner..Loved it at first,then had belt issues and it’s too magnetized and the arms are so hard to remove,especially with a wet cup...So I went with an MHturner and fell in love...My kraken just sits in a corner....

Thank you Rhonda. Turned out beautiful, your so talented. I looked at the foils and to me they all looked metallic, are they all metallic?
Most are metallic however if you apply the matte Ultimate Top Coat, it will take that metallic sheen down. Looks amazing.

Could I do this on a bathroom sink? Will it work on the bowl-shaped contours of the sink?
I don’t recommend it on a vertical surface. You can add a thickener, but it will change the color of the mica and also still run a bit and distort your design.
Can you use a thickener in the epoxy for the backsplash and the end?
Not with clear. It will turn it cloudy.
