You can do this either way but its best to have it as a complete bike, this way when changing some settings like the touchpad sensitivity, you're actually connected to the remote. Also, if you have any technical issues and need support from FAZUA, its best to have the drivepack in the frame when running and saving the diagnostics. If you're just doing a firmware update or changing customizer settings, you can use just the drivepack. When you put the drivepack in the frame, the drivepack will handle updating the peripherals.
i wish Trek Santa Clarita had bothered to show me that this was even existant on my 6k Trek Domane Plus LT. Still haven't been able to connect my phone to the Fazua motor. Noone at Trek store mentioned all these data and adjustments were even possible if you can imagine that.
I've found that a number of shops I have dealt with don't know much detail about the ebikes they are selling especially the software. Same thing with my Specialized store. Another guy was giving just plain wrong information about a different $9K Orbea and I had to educate him. I assume the young guys have never been able to afford one of these ebikes so they don't know much about them but it is still pretty poor customer service.
does the battery/motor have to be on the bike to update via USB? or can i take the battery/motor in the house to update?
