Hi, just purchased a c43 coupe today. Omg the best car I've ever owned. Got the facelift model with all the bells and whistles. Thank you for all your great videos of which convinced me. There was a brand new c63s in the showroom which looked amazing with its huge arches but 85k was a little too much. Love my new perchase. 👍

About a six weeks ago I was trying to decide whether to get the C 63 or the C 43 and shortly there after I decided for the C 43. What really sold me on the C 43 is the 4MATIC drive. Living in Indiana, you are constantly getting all kinds of 'wet' weather. After one month of driving the vehicle, 2017 AMG C 43 coupe, Selenite with burgundy leather interior, I feel like I made the most intelligent decision I've ever made on an automobile and your videos definitely confirm this. Thanks for this channel and all the excellent videos!

Great video Adam. For those with a sensible streak, there's also the lower purchase price, better mpg, and it's looks are low key (narrow body). This is especially useful at the traffic lights grand prix!
You also have to realize that the people complaining about the C43 not being a real AMG are actually complaining about how it affects THEIR C63 and it has nothing to do with the C43 being an inferior car. The C43 looks really close to a C63. Switching to an aftermarket Panamericana grille makes it look 99% like a C63 already. The interior is identical. The only difference anyone will know is from the sounds, albeit the performance exhaust on the C43 sounds amazing too, so the C63 doesn't really have a big win there either. In terms of performance, you'll only really see the difference from a rolling race at around 40mph. From a stop, the C43 AWD grips better and will pull ahead for a bit actually. Now, with all that said. C63 owners are pissed that the C43 is pretty much 90% of their car but for like 30% cheaper. It's now got the AMG badge too so I guess in a way it devalues the C63, if they got that car because it has an AMG badge.
I got a C43 as well since I don't really floor it past 100mph very often and that's when you really notice it. I also don't track the car like most people so there's really no point in going for a $85k car over a $60k car for the performance that I'll rarely use...and more expensive insurance and maintenance and repairs. In fact, if you DON'T utilize the power of e C63 often, then it's actually a bad purchase because you're paying more money, to pay more for gas and getting a harder, stiffer, uncomfortable ride.
Thanks mate I think you nailed it here with your comment. There are quite a lot of people out there that hate on the C43. I will say though I do know a lot of nice C63s owners that respect the C43 as well so its not everyone :)
A C63 coupe looks very different to the C43 coupe (Agreed the saloon isn’t as aggressive)
I do love C43’s but even if the premium you’re paying is solely for the engine on a 63, it’s worth it.
The difference I’ve found owning a V8 (coming out of a F80) is it feels special all the time, even when your sitting and listening to it burble in traffic, is just an amazing feeling.
So whilst I agree the rear wheel drive element means you can’t push it all the time, you don’t need to, to really enjoy that magnificent V8.
And when you do get that nice weather and really open it up, it’s remarkable.
We won’t be seeing another V8 in a small mercedes again. Enjoy it whilst you can because it is so so special (And I’m a BMW fan boy!!!)
I'm a c63 owner and I agree that the c43 is a more practical car, especially for daily driving. The people saying its not an AMG are just silly. The really only difference is the c63 engine is hand built in germany where as the c43 isn't. But that is kind of a silly reason to say its not a true AMG, because the performance of the c43 is excellent.

An AMG is whatever Mercedes Benz wants it to be. The upcoming AMG C63 will be a hybrid 4 cylinder. Does that mean because it isn't a V8, it isn't a true AMG? To some, the answer would be yes. If MB sell a car with an AMG badge, it is an AMG; whether people agree or not. If someone owns an A35, or A45 or a C43 and they decide to sell it, are they going to advertise it as "not quite a true AMG"? Dealers will charge people a premium on AMG cars compared to their base models, so if you are buying an AMG eg C43 it is a bloody AMG.
IF it's hand built by AMG then it's an AMG, IF it's built be mercedes and 'tinkered' with by AMG it's a sales gimmick, just buy a c class and an AMG badge off ebay., and tell me that's an AMG too.

As a daily driver my GLC 43 is everything you could ask for in a comfortable ride with enough raw power at your disposal. Hearing the “whoosh” of the turbo when letting off the gas, and the option to turn of and off the Performance Exhaust is an amazing feeling. You can drive it quietly while full of passengers who won’t have any idea of the power it has, or you can switch to sports plus and really open up the driving experience.
Could not agree more! The C43 has been such an amazing daily driver for me too. It does everything so well :)

Excellent channel, found your videos very helpful when purchasing a a 2020 C43 a few years back. Recently moved to a C63 S, and must say the drive is worlds apart. I found owning the 43 to be a bit disappointing, a very harsh ride and often frustrating to drive quickly with a lot of lag from a standstill. 63 is more of an event to drive with the v8 rumble and slightly more aggressive styling and actually is more comfortable in my opinion. I also thought the 4wd on the 43 was a massive perceived benefit on paper, however the 63 is absolutely fine in British weather providing you are relatively sensible.
Hey Switchedon06, thank you for the nice comment. Congrats on your C63S they are incredible cars it’s nice to hear from the perspective from someone who has owned both. The C63 like you say can put the power down really well but It can suddenly bite you sometimes but as long as you are experienced and prepared it’s no problem. The V8 is incredible. I’d love to have a v8 AMG as a weekend car one day.
@switchedon06, you just confirmed why people buy theC43. You used the word "sensible". Without being "sensible", the C63 will get anyone killed. In the C43, without being sensible, you may just make it. C63 does not have room for error for the driver. The C43 allows for some error.
Fully agree! And I've been able to realize the dream: c43 daily and w204 c63 for the weekends. Total price about what a w205 c63 would have cost.

And thats exactly why my dream car is the GT43 4 door coupe..... as you mentioned with the A45s its animal waiting to be unleashed all the time... and that even in comfort mode :O
The GT43 sounds amazing. It's a shame I don't think we will ever have it here in the UK. Luckily we have the new CLA45s though which is like a mini AMG GT. Even though it's only 4 cylinders the new AMG engine is masterful :)
I've had the 2018 c300 and c43, and recently upgraded to a 2021 c63s. When owning the 43 the debate was always it not being a real AMG but the truth is that it's still badged by Mercedes and AMG. Though I'm on the other side now owning the 63s I still respect the 43...and the 300's remind me where it all started. - The best or nothing

@@ABAUTOAMG so true. I actually didn’t like the 43 until I test drove it. It was a close decision between that and the C63s but I did end up choosing the 63. Next is the E63s facelift which will arrive in a month
what is the consumption of the C300?
I love turning heads with my C43 and if they don't like the v6 they can turn that head back around
Great video. I think the argument about the AMG 43 (and 35 etc) not being a 'real' AMG should be put to bed now. AMG is more than an engine. ALL AMG branded cars, including those at the entry level range, are completely developed within and by AMG - the exact same people that develop the 63, 63s etc. Brakes, Suspension, Steering, Engine Tuning, Gearbox, Software, EVERYTHING. Literally the only difference is that the engine is put together on a factory line as opposed to be being handbuilt by one person. Basically if it's an AMG, it's an AMG. There is no middle ground.
I just bought a 2017 c43 because of the 4wheel drive, the owner told me it’s stupid to buy a rear wheel car with ~400 horsepower, it is simply dangerous. He’s been a rally driver for 20 years so I kinda trust the old man.
C43 is great. Once you've owned a 4 wheel drive performance car its really hard to go back to rear wheel drive, especially a rear biased 4 wheel drive system like the C43. Rear wheel drive is great and fun in the summer which a lot of purists enjoy but overall as a daily driver 4 wheel drive is the way to go :)
I think to each their own. When my c63s was stock it was very very easy to handle regardless of weather as long as the tires were good. Once I tuned it to the 750+ hp area it began to get tricky. I adapted to it and it’s been fun but I’ve purchased a new E63s which will basically have both an awd system and can switch to drift mode when I miss the C63s. Good choice on the 43 man I woulda chose it too but I’ve been used to v8 noises for a while as I previously owned the w204 507 edition and RR SVR so it was a no brainer hope you enjoy ur car

All theses reasons are why I also bought a c43 a couple months ago. Weather here in Chicago can be pretty rough so all wheel drive was a no brainer.
Sounds like you made a great choice. Once you've experienced all wheel drive performance cars it's hard to go back :)

@@1Nevergone not unless the 63 gets a tune too haha. Jk. Speaking from experience my c63s just spins way too much with the 750+ hp tune it has on it now. But the highway races are well worth it. It can easily kill lots of supercars on a roll race

@@ABAUTOAMG how is the ride quality, I heard it’s pretty stiff in comfort mode and m340i is much more versatile with its adaptive suspension, but I do love the amg so idk
@@danraj23ful I've always been happy with the ride quality in mine. Passengers mention its comfortable sometimes. It's no where near as comfortable as an e-class on 17" wheels but we've done lots of long family holiday drives and its always been great.
Just bought a 43 v6 biturbo 4matic ( clarified this as the new one is 4 cylinder apparently ) honestly awesome noise hits the corners hard and is like glue, best thing I've had in a long time. Got a friend with a gtr modified but live over the moors so 500 BHP is my magic number for driving and with 4 wheel drive that's a weapon round my way easily keeping up with my mate that's a stage 2 remap from merc worx jobs a good one
Amazing video man, you at least make an argument out of it not like a lot people that just its not a real AMG. I went from a C63s to a C43 only because, I was tired to filling up petrol often and changing rear tires so quick (bare in mind I daily mine). In Australia the C63 gets average 25L/100km and the C43 is 14/100L, living within 10km of the main Sydney CBD. Insurance was a big difference in Australia between C43 and C63 aswell especially if you daily it and do not have a full lock up garage. Anyway keep up the great video my man!.
25 is a dream for me I fill my c63s up 3-4 times a week and Canada is seeing some of the highest gas prices ever right now😂 I’m also 19 so my insurance company freaked out when I got it and now I get charged 890 a month in Toronto.
@@sahilshergill7278 Insurance companies are a rip off but, what can we do, we need it. I do about 20,000 to 25,000km a year so I need something with a bit of fun and not so heavy on petrol compared to a C63s. A lot of people were confused why I went from a V8 to a V6, when I explained to them they understand.
@@albertl2700 ya definitely agree. I do about 10,000-12000km on my c63s per year and switch between that and a Range Rover SVR which isn’t great on gas either haha but slightly better. It’s quite expensive own the C63s but to me it’s been worth it. Hoping the E63s will be a better experience. Enjoy the 43 it must be fun blowing by ppl when the light turns green hahaha

I live in New England, SNOW!!! I chose the C43, due to all wheel drive. It is a daily driver for me and I have lots of highways. I run 120mph+ very often!!! I put in the JB4 performance tuner and BMS intake and it is close to the C63. It pins me to my seat. Plus, when I take it into the dealer, I can remove the entire thing in 15 mins and the dealer never knows. I love my C43!!!!

How’s the c43 holding up?
I was close to buy a c43 and I really love it was cheaper to buy and to run and still looks great and was newer however… However I bought a C63S 2016 coupe tune 720bhp Downpipes with 30k miles one owner the last AMG V8. is a bloody beast I just love it and I live in England and not issues at all with weather however we have 4x4 merc also, so doesn’t matter . If you buy a C63S is because you have the money to run the car. Is expensive in petrol depending on the drive mode you use as this car is with the touch of a bottom either a gentleman or a hooligan If I have to decide between a c43 and a C63 I will go for the c43 but never over a c63s coupe or a Edition 1. The c43 is better option for a daily drive car also if you have a family with one car and you don’t want to spend a fortune in running cost . c63s is for someone who owns a second car and has the money to enjoyed and want 2 cars in one.

Annoyingly, all the 2019/2020 models I can find out there all seem to have the double Louvre grill rather then the vertical slat grills like yours. Am I missing something?
Hey! You are welcome I'm glad you enjoyed and great to hear from a fellow dad! The saloon is a good choice! From 2019 onwards there was the facelift model which they changed the Grill. It should be the the one split vertical into the badge in the middle in the facelift and pre 2019 it will have the diamond grille. If it has the vertical lines that means they have fitted a cheap aftermarket grill. The genuine Mercedes ones won't fit the C43 because they are designed for the C63 wider arches. If you buy one of these make sure it comes with the genuine Mercedes grill they took off or avoid to get a stock car. They are both great. Just bought the wife a C43 AMG cabriolet. I do not like 4 doors on a sporty car. We have a pick up and a new Acura RDX for that. If you really wanna hear that sucker make noise, put the top down and punch it. Nice video.

We went from having the option to spec a regular c class with a v6 and a manual, to no options other than 4 cylinder engines in just two generations.
Love my C43 I’m an American muscle type of guy but the C43 gives you the perfect balance far as a daily driver with some power
for some reason, mercedes seems to get more hate than the other german brands. you don’t see anywhere near as much hate with m340i v m3, or s5 v rs5, but when it’s c43 v c63 everyone loves to hate. it’s crazy lol
Ah, very true! I think it's because Audio and BMW have set them into their own division. The S model is not an RS and a M-performance is not a full M etc. I think people would be more happy if they had a AMG-lite division like AMG-Perfromance or something. I personality don't mind I think it's like many others had said It's about how much fun the car is.
The c43 came out to replace the c450 AMG which replace the C350 w/ AMG pkg before it. It is not an AMG car in a sense but is spec'ed to give you a taste of the C63 AMG. It's the same thing BMW is doing with the M340 and Audi with the S4. In essence, stiffer suspension, beefier engine, and some cosmetic 💄 changes.
Mpg is a major thing for me. C43 keeps things modest in that regard over the c63, and because I'm a family man.. I'm not big on the idea of straining the necks of my family . If money wasn't an issue of course c63s, as mpg isn't going to matter at that point

Ditto.....C43 over the C63 for just the 4wd system alone - did try both, but settled on C43 for the 4wd system as i had it on my previous Merc, plus the price difference did put me off too!

It depends if it is included in the build. Some do, some don’t. That was a huge thing for me when getting mine
Problem is some people want to daily drive the c63 and come to find out they get 10miles per gallon and instantly regret it lol, then again if you can afford that car petrol shouldn’t be a problem but it’s very expensive as a daily I’d rather a c43 or even the c220d still has nice kick to it and gets 45miles per gallon

My C63 W205 has been my daily for the 2 months, I average around 19mpg, it’s a stage 1 & puts the power down nicely, just depends on your experience with rear wheel drive cars & having a good set of tyres, even in the rain, I still can put my power down.
Thats a very simple question to answer... because im poor can't afford the 63.

I just bought a new 2nd hand GLC43 SUV. This thing makes me smile, it's a sports car when you want it to be and a family car when you need it. I live in Germany and use it to its full potential in both scenarios, even without the performance exhaust, it still sounds fantastic

Last year hubby and I had a C63 and a gla45. This year I have a c43. Best car out of all of them, a perfect combination of them both. Just given it a stage 1 as well and that makes it even better.
If 4 matic works better all year in changing seasons and the driving conditions, why do people choose rear wheel drive like the C63 V8 when winter driving must be more taxing ?
Hi Paul, I think a lot of people love the V8 in the C63 and some people also enjoy the handling and crazyness of the rear wheel setup with so much power.
@@ABAUTOAMG alas this is not one of my strong points as I’ve never owned a high BHP car but I have had feed back off people who have like a friend who had a BMW M5 which was great in the good weather but come winter his attitude changed and he found it quite scary.
Like you said about 4 matics and pilot sport tyres as I understand you can push the power even in bad conditions, like you said if a C63 was 4 matic you’d take it straight away.
I’m after am AMG 45s plus + coupe which you reviewed recently and you said they’re really good.

The guy at the garage said the are hell of an engine and even a C63 can’t take a 45s coupe and they were racing each other in lockdown when the roads were clear, he said it’s hyper for the price.

My C43 AMG Cabriolet has very fragile tires.....I've probably had at LEAST 6 flat tires and 2 cracked rims. Any pot hole more than an inch deep or a railroad track more than an inch above the road and I have a flat tire.
Damn sorry to hear that mate. Are these genuine alloys or replicas? I've been over so many horrid pot holes in mine and the orignal factory ones are still mint. I hear stories of replica alloys cracking all the time but not ususally the genuine ones. The factory tyres were worn in under 10k miles though but thats AMG's fou you! What tyres are you running? A flat that easy is not right at all. Sounds like theres a bigger problem causing this :(

You can always get a custom wheel or swap out parts for carbon If you like. I may get a custom wheel for the C63 once I find one :)
I had 4wd b4 my c63 and that floor it in any weather is just brilliant the fun never stops👍I bought my c63 because I've wanted 1 since they came out, no matter what amg you have it's a amg and that is special thing, they all have that amg noise no matter what engine it has they all win for me, great vid👍

@@ABAUTOAMG also depending what you use your car for ? Mine is a weekend toy , probably be a bit expensive if I used it daily, on a run 32.8 mpg and for what I normally use it for 13-16 mpg😂 but that what you get for having fun 😂👍

If you have a saloon that's made in the USA, it will. All others are built in Germany and are a rock
@@JadeaRS4 Its a German built car - rattles like crazy inside. Ive put felt tape everywhere still a few here and there, the vents especially
The downside with these cars is that they have a much firmer ride so any rattles will be enhanced. I've not experienced many rattles myself. I used to have one then I finally realised it was my sunglasses in the sunglasses compartment above the centre console!
Yeh mine rattles/squeeks/creaks, mainly from rear seats (coupe), bloody annoying so I just gas it, can't hear it then😄

CLA 53 is a great car, love the slick looks too. It's a big too large for my driving style but it's an amazing comfortable cruiser with tons of power :)

I hate the car community. A bunch of of used corola drivers and rich 20 year olds who got an expensive car from their mommy as a birthday present. Those two kinds of people judge others on their choices and money spending and make fun of them.
It’s sad to assume everyone got ‘gifted’ their cars. I grew up incredibly poor and worked so hard running multiple jobs and businesses and failed many times along the way but kept grinding. I wanted my family to not struggle financially like we did growing up. The car is a self reward for all my hard work and I will always appreciate it and never take it for granted. I hold nothing against anyone that is lucky enough to receive things as gifts. What you own does not define you as a person. It’s how you hold yourself and treat other people. Just my thoughts on this. Have a good day :)

That does help! Although there were plenty used C63s for sale cheaper than the new C43 at the time. The C63s is qn amazing car though. I am tempted to see If I can pick up a C63s as a weekend/fun second car for the channel to take out in the summer to get that lovely V8 fix :)
because it was CHEAPER and easier to handle for those with limited driving skills.
I have 2020 C63s sedan Bought it new. I did 20,000 km already and I love every single day driving it! Sorry to tell you but I would never switch to 43. 63 is special car, different breed. Looks like C class but is not. Same as Aston Martin, AMG GT, GTS but with different shirt. It's a beast! There are two reasons I got this car, engine and the sound she makes. If you not see her you'll hear her. Always puts smile on my face, especially in my garage in the mourning. No offence but you talk like that because you never had one. You have never experienced what it's like to drive the mighty C63s every day. Test driving it for an hour or two is not gonna give you that. Trust me. May be the price is the reason for many people. Don't get me wrong and enjoy your Merc!
Hey Stefan, Thank you for your comment I hear you 100% and you make some really good points the C63 is an absolute beast and is a brilliant daily driver which I would happily have with lots of smiling faces! Completely understand where you are coming from, you are very lucky to have one yourself :) I guess for me I came across from Audi to AMG so I was very used to the performance Quattro 4 wheel drive. It's a curse in a way because once you've owned a 4 wheel drive performance car it feels horrible when you pick up a rear wheel drive beast like the 63 because you can't go all out in bad weather. I would 100% go for a C63 as my daily if I lived in a country with less rain. Because I'm so used to having all that traction It really steered me towards to C43. Hopefully one day il be able to afford the best of both worlds and have my 4 wheel drive daily and my rear wheel v8 for weekend and sunny days! I can tell from your comment you enjoy your C63 so keep driving her hard and with no doubt a big smile on your face. Thanks for watching the video :)
@@ABAUTOAMG Thank you for answering! You are 100% right about the AWD traction (I had RS4 10 years ago). Bulgaria isn't a rainy country, especially on Black Sea beach, where I am from. It's sunshine all year around. In UK is probably different whether. May be you took the right decision. I hoop you get your Black Series soon!

A goal for c-43 it's based on fuel for Economy use
I’ve had my C63 for almost 2 months now, it’s been my daily since I got it, I average around 19mpg, it’s got a stage 1 tune putting out 554bhp, 800nm. Personally I think it put the power down nicely, the 4.0 V8 is a really smooth engine, even in the rain I still can go at a decent pace, I’ve upgraded now to the coupe wheels, which are a lot more wider, running 285/30 on the rears with Michelin p4s tyres, now it puts down the power even better, I only get wheel spin in 1st gear, during modulation.
I guess it’s about your experience with rear wheel drive cars, some people are put off by m cars or c63’s just because they haven’t got any experience with rear wheel drive, my advice is, with your first wheel drive car, just build yourself up to it, respect the throttle and the car will respect you, just because you got a car rear wheel drive with 800nm doesn’t mean it’ll go side ways all the time, it’s about experience & patience, but if there was a C63 with a v8 and 4matic, that’ll definitely be the one to go for, I agree it could do with a 4matic system because sometimes it does wheel spin a lot but doesn’t not make it dangerous, if you want a AMG, do it properly & get one with a V8, I’d even rather the CLA45 Than C43, because the cla45 knows what it is. If you can afford a flacelift c43, you should carry on saving and get a used E63.

The bottom line is money. If someone is offering to give you a c43 or a c63 for free, you’d be a fool to choose the former!
I own a c63s (2019) and it’s far superior to the c43 and c63 I previously owned.
