I'm not much into movie culture but part 1 and 2 are so speical to me. And i know i will rewatch them the more time moves on and will probably like them even more than i did during my previous rewatch

Fun fact. When the grandson gets scared by the Godfather with the orange peel in his mouth. That boy's reaction was unscripted. And so was Brando's reaction to the boy actually being frightened. It fit the scene so well, they left it in.

The part about Sinatra getting out of a ridiculous 100 year contract from Tommy Dorsey (the bandleader) IS TRUE. Sinatra probably had some friends pay a visit to Tommy. However / the movie is untrue. Sinatra’s career was dead: record contract, movie contract - hemorrhage at the Copa - left his wife for a starlet - Ava Gardner. His career was essentially over. However - his new wife - Ava Gardner - was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood and she used her influence to get Sinatra the part of “Maggio” in “From Here to Eternity.” That is the truth

Noone matches Godfather 1,2 no matter how big of a sci fi fan you are,or even if Star Trek has more fans + (star trek had bad movies so tarnishing the "perfection" of the series) Godfather obviously was perfect and part 3 was so later in Michael's life that they didnt even feel conected. I think everyone knows that Godfather 2 is best movie of all time along with Shawnshank Redemtion,also for me 2 movies w/o a mistake and most true that cinema can get.

Quality-wise, there was too little difference between them, which is decidedly NOT the case with the first two Star Trek films. In other words, I'm only comparing apples to apples (ST:TMP vs. STII), not apples to oranges (STII vs. GFII).
Enzo the baker is the one who made Connie's wedding cake. In the book, Enzo comes to America to apprentice at a bakery and falls for his boss's daughter. After Enzo gets her pregnant, they want to marry so his boss goes to the Godfather to ask him to help with Enzo's immigration status to stay in the country ( there's a short scene of that) and that's why Enzo showed up to the hospital with flowers.
Actually Enzo was a prisoner of War who was on day release to help the war effort. With the war ending he was going to be released and sent home. If he was just an immigrant there wouldn’t have been a problem.

Fun fact: the actor who plays Luca Brasi was real mobster Lenny Montana, who worked for the Colombo crime family. T he filming of The Godfather faced strong opposition from the Italian-American Civil Rights League (an organization controlled by the Mafia. Producer Al Ruddy eventually made a deal with the league to cut the word Mafia (which was only used once in the script) and the League would back the production of the film. This meant mobsters would be present on the set of The Godfather! In 1971, when Montana was acting as a bodyguard for a crime boss, he met Francis Ford Coppola and he cast him for the role of Luca Brasi. Before filming Montana was so nervous about having to interact with Brando that he kept rehersing his words and Coppola decided to film him while he was doing it and keeped that part in the movie.
Some parts are not easy to understand, when the Tartaglia family understood that Sonny was a hothead, they tried to exploit his flaw to trap him. So they influenced the sister's boyfriend by promising him something, he argued with his sister to make Sonny angry and make him go out... the first time he is beaten, so the Tartaglias have proof that Sonny has fallen into the trap, the second time they organize the kill him and they succeed. The part about the dead fish means that Luca Brazi can no longer speak, in a few words they understood perfectly that it was a trap. The scene with Apollonia, they killed his wife by mistake, because the target was Micheal, she was having fun driving and so she started the car before he arrived, if you remember just before the bodyguard asks Micheal if he was going in the car with his wife (to make sure he was trapped). the final part, when he tells her, you can only ask me about my business once, the NO simply means you shouldn't have asked me. the closed door ends with that message, that the family is a set of things that keeps everyone together and you are part of that set, then it is up to you to decide how to be part of it but you cannot damage it... also for this reason Micheal he had initially chosen Apollonia as his initial wife, he was not convinced that Kay was the right woman. this film explains the origin of the mafia quite well, when nations were real societies and there was no consumerism like today, today let's say things have changed, criminal organizations have a different appearance, there is a hierarchy, but not there's more of this "romantic" aspect.
A true masterpiece of a movie. Watching this 3 hour epic with you ladies was an experience and a true joy. In my opinion one of the best reactions you have done together. It's amazing that one of the best films ever made was completed despite all kinds of opposition by the studio (Coppola was under constant threat of being fired as they didn't want Brando or Pacino) and the Mafia.

Growing up in an Italian household this movie and part two was on a loop every weekend in our house. Big family get togethers and constant food. Great memories back then.
The Godfather's big mistake was asking Luca Brasi to act like a traitor. Everyone knew how fiercely loyal Luca was to Vito. There was no way he would ever turn. That's why they killed him. They knew it was a farce and if Luca was alive when they attempted to assassinate the Don, he would go on the warpath. The movie doesn't go into Luca's reputation. It makes him look like a big simpleton but he was feared throughout the city. In the book, during prohibition, the other families ask Al Capone to send some people to kill the Godfather. They find out about it and Luca meets the killers at the train station. He takes them to a warehouse, ties them up, and stuff towels in their mouths. He then goes to work on one of them with an axe. When he gets ready to start on the other guy, he's already dead. He inhaled the towel into his throat and choked to death. The Don then sent the assassins hands back to Al Capone with a note, "Why does a Neopolitan (Capone was from Naples Italy) interfere in the affairs of Sicilians?"
The book and the movie were before my time, but I love them. I've seen the movies many times, but only read the Mario Puzo 'The Godfather' novel once, along with his other novel 'The Sicilian'. Those novels were awesome. I definitely need to read them again.
They killed Luca because he was the most dangerous henchman working for Corleone; they planned to kill Don Corleone but not before getting rid of the most dangerous person who would go after them.
That was one of two of his big mistakes. The other was not having a better back up bodyguard and driver than Fredo. Sollazo did have something of a point when he told Tom that the don was slipping.
I love how you girls were so into Michael. You have great taste! lol Very interesting character, how Michael by trying to save his family had no choice but to get his hand dirty and then take over. And you noticed how perfect he was to become Boss cause of his personality. Less emotional than his two brothers.

Vito wouldn't have done anything to Carlo. He was old school -- you don't interfere with how another man treats his wife, even if she is your daughter. Connie's brothers, on the other hand, didn't exactly see things that way. They were determined to make Carlo pay. This is spelled out a lot more plainly in the book, as are a few other Sicilian customs.
The horse's head scene had a specific meaning: that they could sneak into his property, kill and behead his horse with out get caught, then putting the head in his bed & him not being aware of it.
True, but the horse head wasn't in the bed in the book. But even though Coppola misread that section of the book, he left it in for obvious reasons. Oh, and the horse head was not a prop, it was a literal horse head they bought from a slaughterhouse and kept on ice until they shot that scene.

Screenplay: INT DAY: WOLTZ'S BEDROOM (SUMMER 1945) It is large, dominated by a huge bed, in which a man, presumably WOLTZ, is sleeping. Soft light bathes the room from the large windows. We move closer to him until we see his face, and recognize JACK WOLTZ. He turns uncomfortably; mutters, feels something strange in his bedsheets. Something wet. He wakens, feels the sheets with displeasure; they are wet. He looks at his hand; the wetness is blood. He is frightened, pulls aside the covers, and sees fresh blood on his sheets and pajamas. He grunts, pulls the puddle of blood in his bed. He feels his own body frantically, moving, down, following the blood, until he is face to face with the great severed head of Khartoum lying at the foot of his bed. Just blood from the hacked neck. White reedy tendons show. He struggles up to his elbows in the puddle of blood to see more clearly. Froth covers the muzzle, and the enormous eyes of the animal are yellowed and covered with blood. The 'nervous' guy at the beginning was actually just a really, really stupid non-actor they brought in in the last minute after the very large actor they had cast died the day before shooting. He was the only really tall, large guy they could find on short notice and he couldn't even read the words without a paper. So they improvised and showed him reading them off the paper before going in to the Don, as if her were just nervous. The part was initially just a guy asking for another favor, but this made it soo much better IMO!
Enzo is nervous because he is a BAKER, not a mobster. He is the one that the baker who made the cake wanted Don Corleone to help keep in America to marry his daughter. So he was willing to even put himself at risk to help. He expresses himself with total sincerity "for your father, for your father ".
To be fair, Michael's wife blowing up was an accident. The traitor heard she was going to be elsewhere when he put the bomb in the car, thinking Michael was going to be the one killed; which is why he fled with such panic once he saw she was driving and it was too late. Doesn't make it any better, but she wasn't an innocent that was purposely targetted

The scenes at the house in Long Beach where they opened with the wedding and where Don Corleone died in his tomasto garden were filmed about 3 blocks from my house and the toll booth on the Loop Parkway where Sonny was killed was about 3 miles from my house . I bought my house in 1971 ,so this was filmed about one year after I moved here .
the detective who said "he's a war hero" is Sonny Grasso who was a real detective and helped take down The French Connection and was portrayed by Roy Scheidner in 2 different movies
Thanks, I always wondered how a real Italian would think of this movie. Despite the fact that both of my parents were born Italian, basically my family has been in American more than a hundred years. I'm what my grandparents would call a-meda -gon ( an american, a person that would eat peanut butter and jelly on White Bread) I got a real kick out of when you guys were laughing during the christening scene, I never seen that kind of reaction to that scene before. So cool how Viki picked on the main theme of the movie, the rise of Michael Corleone to the rank of Godfather. THe movie takes it's time on showing how the transformation was gradual and yet intense at the sam etime with various turing point that would cause Michael to have to step up to ensure his family's survival. Casue in the GAme of Thrones, "You win or you die".
In the book when the police captain hits Michael he breaks Michael's jaw which causes problems with his nose. Which is why you see Michael holding a handkerchief to his nose after that. I've heard that Marlon Brando was also a big prankster on set. For example in the scene when he gets out of the hospital and goes home. They are carrying him up the stairs. Brando loaded the bottom of the gurney with bricks.
Awesome film.. Micheal became the don because he never wanted to be.. It allowed him to remain detached until they tried to kill his father, beat him for protecting his father even though he was a civilian out of the business which forced him to take action and kill someone in the business and the associate cop that beat him. Then they corrupted his brother in law to lure his big brother out to his death, then they took it even more personal by chasing him to Sicily to blow him up that ended up being his wife instead, then one of his family friends that knew him from being a kid trying to set up a meeting to get him killed at his own fathers funeral.. He didn't want to be Don, he was driven to it and that's why he was the perfect choice, an educated brain on the modern world and fresh eyes in an old business.. His life experiences are what made him ruthless

Michael is Sicilian, and about to become head of the Corleone dynasty -- he realizes with Kay that he has a responsibility to continue the Family name, and successors to him. He needs babies! 😂
He is marrying Kaye for prestige. She is from an upper-class American family. Marring Kaye was also a way for Michael to engraciate himself and the Corleone family with the American political leaders in order to "legitimize " his business interests. Michael is also marrying Kaye on the rebound. His true love is Appolonia. The problem with his marriage to Kaye is that she is an American woman who had a career and her fearlessness to speak up and to question her husband angers Michael. Kaye plays naive during her early relationship with Michael so I don't have much sympathy for her when her marriage breaks down. Appolonia would have not had these issues with Michael because she would have been the loyal and dutiful Italian wife Michael needed.
For the famous horse's head scene, the director used a real horse's head without telling the actor in advance, so at least part of his shocked reaction was real.
When it comes to Mafia movies The Godfather is king! No film has come close to topping it, other than Part 2. If you're interested in more movies in the Mafia genre here are two great films worth reacting to: "The Untouchables" (1987) and "Carlito's Way" (1993).
38:30 at that point Michael's soul had died a little with the death of Apollonia. He had to plan things ahead and since he was bound to become the Don he had to raise a family. He wasn't like Sonny or Fredo, he didnt have time to fool around so he went back to his former love. It was a practical move although he had some feelings for Kay...
The part of Vito Corleone is played so brilliantly, and the rest of the cast as well the casting we perfect for everyone and the whole movie is still considered a modern cinematic masterpeice to this day along with part 2 which is the best sequel in movie history, just as good as the first if not better
I've got a book called The Godfather Companion that has all sorts of details on the film. Robert Redford and Warren Beatty were the first two choices for Michael but they both turned down the part. Other actors who screen tested for the role included James Caan (yes, he first tested for the role of Michael), David Carradine, Martin Sheen and Dean Stockwell. Robert DeNiro tested for the role of Sonny. Also the part of Bonasero, the undertaker in the opening scene, was in real life an Italian barber. I've seen comments in other reactions that say the mansion where the scenes with Woltz were shot is the Hearst Castle in California. Actually the scenes were shot at the Guggenheim estate on Long Island. They were only allowed to shoot there for two days. Brando developed the voice for Vito by listening to tapes of 1950s Genevese mob boss Frank Costello.
The studio didn’t like director Coppola’s cast choices, especially Pacino as Michael. After they saw him killing In the restaurant, they were convinced he was the right choice!
At the beginning the undertaker should have asked that Sonny be given the task of punishing the man who beat his daughter. Sonny Corleone would do an awesome job. Especially the way he will use the trash can lid.
Part 3 is not as good, but it is not bad, and definitely not as bad as some people say it is. It is worth watching after you have seen 1 & 2. Hopefully you can find a copy of the original release of part 3, as it is a little better than the newer re-edit called Coda…

Fun fact. When the grandson gets scared by the Godfather with the orange peel in his mouth. That boy's reaction was unscripted. And so was Brando's reaction to the boy actually being frightened. It fit the scene so well, they left it in.

Sinatra’s career was dead: record contract, movie contract - hemorrhage at the Copa - left his wife for a starlet - Ava Gardner. His career was essentially over. However - his new wife - Ava Gardner - was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood and she used her influence to get Sinatra the part of “Maggio” in “From Here to Eternity.” That is the truth

Godfather obviously was perfect and part 3 was so later in Michael's life that they didnt even feel conected.

Quality-wise, there was too little difference between them, which is decidedly NOT the case with the first two Star Trek films. In other words, I'm only comparing apples to apples (ST:TMP vs. STII), not apples to oranges (STII vs. GFII).
Enzo the baker is the one who made Connie's wedding cake. In the book, Enzo comes to America to apprentice at a bakery and falls for his boss's daughter. After Enzo gets her pregnant, they want to marry so his boss goes to the Godfather to ask him to help with Enzo's immigration status to stay in the country ( there's a short scene of that) and that's why Enzo showed up to the hospital with flowers.
Actually Enzo was a prisoner of War who was on day release to help the war effort. With the war ending he was going to be released and sent home. If he was just an immigrant there wouldn’t have been a problem.

To be fair, they didn't mean to kill Apollonia. They thought Micheal would be driving himself. The bomb went off when she started the car.
Losing Apollonia was the final straw for Michael. If she was still alive, Michael would become like his father who was respected and loved by family.

Michael wasn’t hesitant about shooting Sollozo and the cop. He waited for the subway train to come by, to make noise to cover the gun shots.
The plan was after go to toilet, Michael came back and shot them immediately, but Michael saw the guard at the bar so he decided to sat on table first
Michael said it wasn't personal but he waited until both Sollazo and McCluskey were looking him in the eye before he shot them.

he filming of The Godfather faced strong opposition from the Italian-American Civil Rights League (an organization controlled by the Mafia. Producer Al Ruddy eventually made a deal with the league to cut the word Mafia (which was only used once in the script) and the League would back the production of the film. This meant mobsters would be present on the set of The Godfather!
In 1971, when Montana was acting as a bodyguard for a crime boss, he met Francis Ford Coppola and he cast him for the role of Luca Brasi.
Before filming Montana was so nervous about having to interact with Brando that he kept rehersing his words and Coppola decided to film him while he was doing it and keeped that part in the movie.
Some parts are not easy to understand, when the Tartaglia family understood that Sonny was a hothead, they tried to exploit his flaw to trap him.
So they influenced the sister's boyfriend by promising him something, he argued with his sister to make Sonny angry and make him go out... the first time he is beaten, so the Tartaglias have proof that Sonny has fallen into the trap, the second time they organize the kill him and they succeed.
The part about the dead fish means that Luca Brazi can no longer speak, in a few words they understood perfectly that it was a trap.
The scene with Apollonia, they killed his wife by mistake, because the target was Micheal, she was having fun driving and so she started the car before he arrived, if you remember just before the bodyguard asks Micheal if he was going in the car with his wife (to make sure he was trapped).
the final part, when he tells her, you can only ask me about my business once, the NO simply means you shouldn't have asked me.
the closed door ends with that message, that the family is a set of things that keeps everyone together and you are part of that set, then it is up to you to decide how to be part of it but you cannot damage it... also for this reason Micheal he had initially chosen Apollonia as his initial wife, he was not convinced that Kay was the right woman.
this film explains the origin of the mafia quite well, when nations were real societies and there was no consumerism like today, today let's say things have changed, criminal organizations have a different appearance, there is a hierarchy, but not there's more of this "romantic" aspect.

It's amazing that one of the best films ever made was completed despite all kinds of opposition by the studio (Coppola was under constant threat of being fired as they didn't want Brando or Pacino) and the Mafia.

Growing up in an Italian household this movie and part two was on a loop every weekend in our house. Big family get togethers and constant food. Great memories back then.
The Godfather's big mistake was asking Luca Brasi to act like a traitor. Everyone knew how fiercely loyal Luca was to Vito. There was no way he would ever turn. That's why they killed him. They knew it was a farce and if Luca was alive when they attempted to assassinate the Don, he would go on the warpath. The movie doesn't go into Luca's reputation. It makes him look like a big simpleton but he was feared throughout the city. In the book, during prohibition, the other families ask Al Capone to send some people to kill the Godfather. They find out about it and Luca meets the killers at the train station. He takes them to a warehouse, ties them up, and stuff towels in their mouths. He then goes to work on one of them with an axe. When he gets ready to start on the other guy, he's already dead. He inhaled the towel into his throat and choked to death. The Don then sent the assassins hands back to Al Capone with a note, "Why does a Neopolitan (Capone was from Naples Italy) interfere in the affairs of Sicilians?"

The book and the movie were before my time, but I love them. I've seen the movies many times, but only read the Mario Puzo 'The Godfather' novel once, along with his other novel 'The Sicilian'. Those novels were awesome. I definitely need to read them again.
Luca's mistake was playing up the $50k offer, an absurd amount for a bodyguard. They immediately saw weakness.
They killed Luca because he was the most dangerous henchman working for Corleone; they planned to kill Don Corleone but not before getting rid of the most dangerous person who would go after them.
That was one of two of his big mistakes. The other was not having a better back up bodyguard and driver than Fredo. Sollazo did have something of a point when he told Tom that the don was slipping.
This is the best Godfather reaction by far! Can’t wait for part 2. Same team. Mich and viki always❤
I love how you girls were so into Michael. You have great taste! lol Very interesting character, how Michael by trying to save his family had no choice but to get his hand dirty and then take over. And you noticed how perfect he was to become Boss cause of his personality. Less emotional than his two brothers.

Vito wouldn't have done anything to Carlo. He was old school -- you don't interfere with how another man treats his wife, even if she is your daughter. Connie's brothers, on the other hand, didn't exactly see things that way. They were determined to make Carlo pay. This is spelled out a lot more plainly in the book, as are a few other Sicilian customs.
When they say that it's not personal, they lie. It's ALWAYS personal.
The horse's head scene had a specific meaning: that they could sneak into his property, kill and behead his horse with out get caught, then putting the head in his bed & him not being aware of it.

True, but the horse head wasn't in the bed in the book. But even though Coppola misread that section of the book, he left it in for obvious reasons. Oh, and the horse head was not a prop, it was a literal horse head they bought from a slaughterhouse and kept on ice until they shot that scene.

Have you read the book? Solid two pages worth of it. Coppolla did not "misread" it & it was Puzo himself who wrote the screenplay with Coppolla! The screenplay has almost the exact same wording of the book. Coppolla just added Woltz feeling blood on him & the sheets & rolling them down.

yeah i always wondered why they did not add the little girl to the film...it's clear in the book right before the horse head they talk about how he can only be turned on by little girls these days only in the evenings, etc cause he was too old & tired. Guess it was too dark a thing to put in.
The 'nervous' guy at the beginning was actually just a really, really stupid non-actor they brought in in the last minute after the very large actor they had cast died the day before shooting. He was the only really tall, large guy they could find on short notice and he couldn't even read the words without a paper. So they improvised and showed him reading them off the paper before going in to the Don, as if her were just nervous.
The part was initially just a guy asking for another favor, but this made it soo much better IMO!
Enzo is nervous because he is a BAKER, not a mobster. He is the one that the baker who made the cake wanted Don Corleone to help keep in America to marry his daughter. So he was willing to even put himself at risk to help. He expresses himself with total sincerity "for your father, for your father ".

To be fair, Michael's wife blowing up was an accident. The traitor heard she was going to be elsewhere when he put the bomb in the car, thinking Michael was going to be the one killed; which is why he fled with such panic once he saw she was driving and it was too late.

That is correct. Fabrizio, who was paid off by Michael's enemies, planted the bomb to kill Michael. Apollonia getting into the car was unexpected.

The scenes at the house in Long Beach where they opened with the wedding and where Don Corleone died in his tomasto garden were filmed about 3 blocks from my house and the toll booth on the Loop Parkway where Sonny was killed was about 3 miles from my house . I bought my house in 1971 ,so this was filmed about one year after I moved here .
the detective who said "he's a war hero" is Sonny Grasso who was a real detective and helped take down The French Connection and was portrayed by Roy Scheidner in 2 different movies

Thanks, I always wondered how a real Italian would think of this movie. Despite the fact that both of my parents were born Italian, basically my family has been in American more than a hundred years. I'm what my grandparents would call a-meda -gon ( an american, a person that would eat peanut butter and jelly on White Bread) I got a real kick out of when you guys were laughing during the christening scene, I never seen that kind of reaction to that scene before. Once again thank you and thumbs up.

So cool how Viki picked on the main theme of the movie, the rise of Michael Corleone to the rank of Godfather. THe movie takes it's time on showing how the transformation was gradual and yet intense at the sam etime with various turing point that would cause Michael to have to step up to ensure his family's survival. Casue in the GAme of Thrones, "You win or you die".
The studio kept trying to fire Al Pacino and also nearly fired Francis Ford Coppola. Thankfully Coppola got his way 🎉
In the book when the police captain hits Michael he breaks Michael's jaw which causes problems with his nose. Which is why you see Michael holding a handkerchief to his nose after that.
I've heard that Marlon Brando was also a big prankster on set. For example in the scene when he gets out of the hospital and goes home. They are carrying him up the stairs. Brando loaded the bottom of the gurney with bricks.
Yeah, that actually happened. Also to relieve tension the cast (including Pacino, Duvall, Caan, and Brando) spent a lot of time mooning each other.

Awesome film.. Micheal became the don because he never wanted to be.. It allowed him to remain detached until they tried to kill his father, beat him for protecting his father even though he was a civilian out of the business which forced him to take action and kill someone in the business and the associate cop that beat him. Then they corrupted his brother in law to lure his big brother out to his death, then they took it even more personal by chasing him to Sicily to blow him up that ended up being his wife instead, then one of his family friends that knew him from being a kid trying to set up a meeting to get him killed at his own fathers funeral.. He didn't want to be Don, he was driven to it and that's why he was the perfect choice, an educated brain on the modern world and fresh eyes in an old business.. His life experiences are what made him ruthless

Michael is Sicilian, and about to become head of the Corleone dynasty -- he realizes with Kay that he has a responsibility to continue the Family name, and successors to him. He needs babies! 😂
He is marrying Kaye for prestige. She is from an upper-class American family. Marring Kaye was also a way for Michael to engraciate himself and the Corleone family with the American political leaders in order to "legitimize " his business interests. Michael is also marrying Kaye on the rebound. His true love is Appolonia. The problem with his marriage to Kaye is that she is an American woman who had a career and her fearlessness to speak up and to question her husband angers Michael. Kaye plays naive during her early relationship with Michael so I don't have much sympathy for her when her marriage breaks down. Appolonia would have not had these issues with Michael because she would have been the loyal and dutiful Italian wife Michael needed.

Of all the tragedies in The Godfather trilogy, and there are many, the biggest one is that both Vito and Michael were GOOD men who became monsters.
When it comes to Mafia movies The Godfather is king! No film has come close to topping it, other than Part 2. If you're interested in more movies in the Mafia genre here are two great films worth reacting to: "The Untouchables" (1987) and "Carlito's Way" (1993).

The part of Vito Corleone is played so brilliantly, and the rest of the cast as well the casting we perfect for everyone and the whole movie is still considered a modern cinematic masterpeice to this day along with part 2 which is the best sequel in movie history, just as good as the first if not better

I've got a book called The Godfather Companion that has all sorts of details on the film. Robert Redford and Warren Beatty were the first two choices for Michael but they both turned down the part. Other actors who screen tested for the role included James Caan (yes, he first tested for the role of Michael), David Carradine, Martin Sheen and Dean Stockwell. Robert DeNiro tested for the role of Sonny. Also the part of Bonasero, the undertaker in the opening scene, was in real life an Italian barber.
I've seen comments in other reactions that say the mansion where the scenes with Woltz were shot is the Hearst Castle in California. Actually the scenes were shot at the Guggenheim estate on Long Island. They were only allowed to shoot there for two days.

Part 3 is not as good, but it is not bad, and definitely not as bad as some people say it is. It is worth watching after you have seen 1 & 2. Hopefully you can find a copy of the original release of part 3, as it is a little better than the newer re-edit called Coda…
