    I’m just a part time (seasonal) wanna be taxidermist. I basically do my own. Whitetail. With ambitions to mount for folks that can’t afford the big $$ yet have a passion for the animal.
    I show up to your channel about this time every year ( past 3 years) for instruction.
    I just love watching yours videos. So much detail packed into 12 - 15 mins. The confidence in your voice and instruction to the task at hand has been a tremendous help in my success.
    Again, thank so much for taking the time to instruct and share your passion and talent with me.

    Your work is amazing, I would like to see how you go about doing the finish work. Have you made a video with the final touches of mounting a mule deer? The air-brush work, texturing the nose all the details of the finish work.

      No I haven’t but I’m going to now that the membership is started.

    Great work! And thanks for taking the time to share your work.
    One suggestion if I may, I'm not sure what your camera setup is, but since you have a static shot, if you switched it over to manual focus it would stop the constant focus adjustment your camera is making every time you cross infront of it. It would take your videos to the next level of professionalism!
    Anyways keep it up. I've watched your stuff nonstop over the last 2 days.

      Hey thanks … I have applied what you mentioned. My newer videos are all set up on manual focus. Unless I forget sometimes 🤦🏻‍♂️but yes it was a pain that the camera was constantly focusing the background. Thanks for watching anyway. Cheers.

    Love watching the process! I've hunted all my life and been fortunate to kill some nice bucks that I've gotten mounted. I've done european mounts on whitetails, bear, alligator, mule deer and elk for quite a few years for myself and some friends/clients, but really want to take the time to learn this process as well so I can do my own shoulder mounts for the animals I harvest. Not interested in starting a taxidermy business, but I do enjoy the process and speaking with my customers about their hunts when I do their euro mounts. Your channel is very interesting to me so thank you for walking us through the steps. I'm definitely interested in the tanning of the hide for the mounting process. I know how to cape a buck for a shoulder mount, but once I have the hide, tanning it for mounting is done SO many different ways I'm curious if you have any plans to do a demonstration video of this process. You may use a tannery like my taxidermist does and that's fine...I was just curious. Also, on your video camera, if you have an auto focus feature...turn it off. Focus on the mount where you're working and when you pop in front of the camera you won't have to worry about the auto-focus taking control and blurring out the video. Just a friendly suggestion :-) Love the content and the time you take to educate us so please keep it up!

      Thanks a lot Josh. Appreciate the camera idea. I’ll apply that. About that the tanning, yes I do send them out for tanning however I do tan small stuff like martens or fox or lynx... I will make sure to make a video of the process. Cheers.

    How do you hold ears in place as they dry

    • @ArtofTaxidermy
      @ArtofTaxidermy  9 місяців тому +1

      A large 10-12” long 9g wire pushed inside the ear. Pull out when dry.

    Did you use a Brad nailgun or a 23 pin nailgun for keeping the skin around the antler base? Thanks

    • @ArtofTaxidermy
      @ArtofTaxidermy  3 роки тому

      Brad nail ,, use the shortest Brads.
      I use nail gun on African animals that have less hair. Also I use crazy glue on hairless ones.

      There are many different hide paste you can find, dextrine is one of them or any other kind that your local taxidermy supplier sells but the one Im using here is called Roman 555. its a Wall paper adhesive.
