We share our special day 🎂 I have always thought of the whole month being special and made it a rule to never work on my day. Yes, what happen on our day was a tragedy, however NZ is a day ahead in most timelines, so woke up the day after to that happening. I still celebrate my day because I came first, but i still take a moment to remember. Thank you for sharing.
I am always delighted to see a new episode pop up. Thank you! I have a crochet blanket that I am part way through. It has been languishing for a long time, but your MAL will help me to complete it. Not from scarp yarn, but certainly happy and a blanket! Maybe I will even finish it and move onto a scrappy one :)

For your birthday knit, my vote goes for a suitable pale blue mohair. This will give you a beautiful halo in a color that suits you and should blend well with that multi-color Silk Garden Noro. I really look forward to seeing your progress on this. I am rather glad that you did not opt for Sawyer because it has all that boring moss stitch (pretty when finished but I find moss stitch boring, for some reason). Hmm, I haven't thought about using blue. Need to take a good look at all the blues out there. 😊 I actually enjoy knitting moss stitch. But Sawyer is a bottom-up. And I definitely don't enjoy that. 😂
Texas in the US has been over 100°F for almost 3 months with no rain. Monday had so much rain and flash flooding. The temperatures have not been so high. I too am a process knitter who has startitis all of the time. I do finish things but there are so many pretty things to start. We have little green lizards all over. I hope to join the happy scrappy blanket mal.Take care.

So good to spend time on a Sunday afternoon with good friends. I am working on a Bacquero (spelling doesn't look right, oops)Basket. Made with unspun yarn held double and I just love the way it is working up. It's a little rough on my hands but will be well worth it! Definitely recommend the pattern.

I JUST started a scrappy blanket this month and I will definitely take part in the MAL. I don't know if I will have enough scraps, but I will see how far I can get in a year. We have a lot of grasshoppers here, too. Last week I found a praying mantis in my house. How did it get in. Maybe hitch hiked in on someone. It was a small one, only about 3 cm. I really look forward to your episodes.

Thank you! I'm neither a big fan of grasshoppers and lizards, but I've got used to them over the years. We moved to the countryside 11 years ago and I was screaming every time I saw them for the first 3 years. 😂 Then I learned that lizards are much nicer than snakes. Yep, I once found a snake in our basement. Eeeek! 😵💫
You’ve convinced me to try a Battenberg, although I don’ t think mine will be as big as the original! Want to practice my crocheting and using up scraps seems like a good way. Time to join the MAL! I don’t knit enough to have enough scrappy leftovers, but I do have a bin of yarn from some island -raised sheep here in Maine, US - in many colors - so maybe I’ll use that! I’m just on the first one knitting from cuff to toe and not got to the heel yet !! Using dpns at the moment but trying to locate a small cord for circulars. Also having a go at teaching myself continental knitting as I’m used to holding my yarn in my left hand to crochet - practise makes perfect so they say lol 😂 I love nature and like nothing more than walking in the country and I’m lucky to be close to local areas of beauty and not far from the Lake District. My parents live in North East Scotland and the scenery and wildlife is spectacular there so I do spend a lot of my holidays there - I’m a teacher which means I do get good holidays !!

@@FinnishKnittingStories I ordered a 50/50 cotton/rayon from bamboo blend. I have to order every yarn I buy because there are no LYS near me. Also, I wanted something affordable in case I can't figure out how to knit it! Hopefully the yarn will work out ok. Fingers crossed 🤞

Oh my I have 3 blankets going… one has been sitting for 10 years😬🫤it is not scrap but if it sat that long it may have turned into scrap. One is granny stripe from scrap another is a kit using multi colors and done slip stitch. I love your sea blouse! I must try that… thank you Janna. Oh my sister’s birthday is 9/11! It is a joy to be born… long before the tragedy we celebrated life. It was my husband’s retirement party. Osama bin Ladin ruined his celebration too.
Good thinking! All the WIPs over 10 years should be counted as scrap projects. 😂 I think many of us have forgotten how to celebrate love. I used to hate my birthday and now I've learned to enjoy it in my own quite way. 😊

We share the same birthday, I am also born on September 11th, so I know what you mean by "everybody knows what happened on that day", cause that is what has been all over the news on our every birthday since 2001. Chilean coup d¨etat also started on the same date (the actual day I was born, which is, hmmm...some years back 😂). That was something my mother always reminded me about. So, big things have happen on that date. In case I forget to congratulate you on our birthday, I wish you a Happy Birthday already now 🌹

I know this your blog is over a year old but just an idea about stitch markers with lobster claw clips: find a plain linked bracelet and put stitch markers on it and wear them like fancy lad stitch marker charm bracelet ❤. Rather than have them sit in a container on a shelf in the dark only wanting to have a purpose. Its merely a suggestion.

Noro silk garden is such a lovely yarn....I'm not sure it needs a mohair alongside...It would, for me, distract from the beauty of it. x
I think I need to make a swatch and see if I can meet the gauge without the mohair.
So good to spend time on a Sunday afternoon with good friends. I am working on a Bacquero (spelling doesn't look right, oops)Basket. Made with unspun yarn held double and I just love the way it is working up. It's a little rough on my hands but will be well worth it! Definitely recommend the pattern.

How about a light gray mohair for your birthday cast on sweater? It would give that lovely halo & warmth, and you wouldn't have to make as many pattern adjustments. Lovely to see you as always, Jana. I'm working on Casapinka's new MKAL Sharon Air. Lots of fun!

I JUST started a scrappy blanket this month and I will definitely take part in the MAL. I don't know if I will have enough scraps, but I will see how far I can get in a year. Your stitch marker organizer is brilliant! I need something like that for mine. The Noro yarn is beautiful. It will make a beautiful sweater.

We have a lot of grasshoppers here, too. Last week I found a praying mantis in my house. How did it get in. Maybe hitch hiked in on someone. It was a small one, only about 3 cm. I really look forward to your episodes.

Thank you! I'm neither a big fan of grasshoppers and lizards, but I've got used to them over the years. We moved to the countryside 11 years ago and I was screaming every time I saw them for the first 3 years. 😂 Then I learned that lizards are much nicer than snakes. Yep, I once found a snake in our basement. Eeeek! 😵💫

So fun to see a little of your home life - and some spinning - the MAL sounds fun, and as someone else wrote - Im a very slow knitter and so this seems do-able! I don’t knit enough to have enough scrappy leftovers, but I do have a bin of yarn from some island -raised sheep here in Maine, US - in many colors - so maybe I’ll use that! Love your oh-so-real podcasts - feels more like my life, except you make a lot more things!!

I’ve completed 2 scrappy crocheted blankets this year one for my 88 year old dad for winter as who knows what’s going to happen with fuel prices etc!

I’m just on the first one knitting from cuff to toe and not got to the heel yet !! Using dpns at the moment but trying to locate a small cord for circulars. Also having a go at teaching myself continental knitting as I’m used to holding my yarn in my left hand to crochet - practise makes perfect so they say lol 😂
I love nature and like nothing more than walking in the country and I’m lucky to be close to local areas of beauty and not far from the Lake District. My parents live in North East Scotland and the scenery and wildlife is spectacular there so I do spend a lot of my holidays there - I’m a teacher which means I do get good holidays !!

@@FinnishKnittingStories I ordered a 50/50 cotton/rayon from bamboo blend. I have to order every yarn I buy because there are no LYS near me. Also, I wanted something affordable in case I can't figure out how to knit it! Hopefully the yarn will work out ok. Fingers crossed 🤞

Oh my I have 3 blankets going… one has been sitting for 10 years😬🫤it is not scrap but if it sat that long it may have turned into scrap. One is granny stripe from scrap another is a kit using multi colors and done slip stitch. I love your sea blouse! I must try that… thank you Janna. Oh my sister’s birthday is 9/11! It is a joy to be born… long before the tragedy we celebrated life. It was my husband’s retirement party. Osama bin Ladin ruined his celebration too.

We share the same birthday, I am also born on September 11th, so I know what you mean by "everybody knows what happened on that day", cause that is what has been all over the news on our every birthday since 2001. Chilean coup d¨etat also started on the same date (the actual day I was born, which is, hmmm...some years back 😂). That was something my mother always reminded me about. So, big things have happen on that date. In case I forget to congratulate you on our birthday, I wish you a Happy Birthday already now 🌹

I know this your blog is over a year old but just an idea about stitch markers with lobster claw clips: find a plain linked bracelet and put stitch markers on it and wear them like fancy lad stitch marker charm bracelet ❤. Rather than have them sit in a container on a shelf in the dark only wanting to have a purpose. Its merely a suggestion.
You won't believe, but I do have a bracelet like that. And a necklace as well. 😊

I'd enjoy this MAL but I buy only enough yarn for each project so I don't have any scraps ( I know! Weird but it's economical). I always look forward to your videos!
