It shows how pathetic my life is that it literally hasn't changed since before this all happened. I feel like I've missed something that everyone else is experiencing, and it makes me sad and feel isolated, even though I know it's not something that one should want to experience. You know you live a worthless existence when the entire world can shut down due to a pandemic and you don't even notice.

I highly suggest you seek therapy and get on a strength training program. The former will greatly help your mental health while the latter will give you a feasible goal/discipline to work towards. If you stick with these two, I guarantee you that by the end of this year, you will feel like a whole new person.
I would know since I was in your place not too long ago and I am quite outgoing and confident now regardless of this pandemic. Let me know if you need more info, I'd love to help.

The problem is also that during the Spanish flu event, there were much less humans on Earth and we were not as closely connected by transports (Be they cars, public transport, flights, etc.). So regardless of the virus itself, our increased capability to travel further and faster than previous generations, as well as our entitled feelings that we should be able to travel anywhere around the world at the drop of a hat for business or leisure makes it much, much more likely for new infection to be transmitted (Not to mention the growing anti-science movement which pushes people to reject simple measures that can help end this sooner)

I have to say this glosses over UPPER vs LOWER respiratory infection. The main reason Omicron is so much more transmissible than Delta is because it infects (& reproduces in) the UPPER airways (like the throat), which increases the amount of viral material that is spread around when coughing. In contrast, Delta infected the LOWER airways more, making it less transmissible but more deadly. So, yes, it is actually true that transmissibility is USUALLY inverse to lethality.

i really hope this ends soon... the pandemic hasnt affected me with the disease factor quite as much as it has the lifestyle changes. i already had chronic depression and motivational issues, but i was doing really well before all of this... going out, seeing people, exercising frequently enough to be pretty good at walking uphill, anxiety was manageable...
but then all of this happened and i was told to do exactly what i was never supposed to do, the thing that was guarenteed to make my symptoms way worse: stay inside, don't see anyone.
it's been almost two years since this pandemic began, since i began self isolating. it was fun at first - i thought so, because i got to stay inside and play video games with my friends all day. but it gradually became a huge problem. my room became the messiest it has ever been, im deconditioned to the point where walking for five blocks can cause serious muscle strain or even make me vomit, im stuck in these incredibly unhelpful habits... my lifestyle has been absolutely destroyed by all of this. my support network almost completely dissolved. im borderline agoraphobic and its all because of these restrictions put in place that told me to do exactly what i should have never done to myself.
and im not an anti masker, or an anti vaccinator. i'm also not anti-lockdown or anti-covid anything. i believe this was the best thing to do for everybody, locking down had to happen, all of this did. i blame no one because there is no one to blame. the circumstances were incredibly unfortunate, and now i need to go through the difficult task of pulling myself back up from this pit of despair and deconditioning, the hard way. the support network i spent so long forming is gone, and now i need to make a new one from the ground up, because im alone now, besides my long distance partner and my occupational therapist, who is helping me currently.
i really do feel like im rotting in my own body. i've never been this unhealthy before. i've found myself mourning my health a lot recently. i used to be so much more able than this. things used to be better, i used to be better.
all i can really do every day is just hold on. just wait. just survive. keep living... that's me, doing my best, just staying alive despite the absolute misery i'm in
i've had some friends get covid, but none have passed away thankfully. my significant other got it, and it did leave her with some lung damage, but shes okay. other friends got omicron and are generally okay too. my grandma got it ... thank god she lived, although she might not have much longer with the long lasting damage it left her with.
too many people had to die from this, and there are other instances of collateral damage that this pandemic has caused. i hope my story is illuminating somehow. sorry for the wall of text, i guess i just needed to vent. this pandemic has impacted a lot of us in different ways.

First: felt more like a cold with a chemical taste in my mouth (5 days). I then had a day of feeling like I had my booster.
Second: cold symptoms went away but had daily nausea (waking up in the middle of the night), insomnia, lack of appetite, brain fog, fatigue, and diarrhea. I then had a second feverish day (not as bad as the first one) and now I'm fine. I still have a bit of sneezing but nothing outside of normal conditions this time of year.

I think you left out some important parts of this discussion. First of all, when most people hear ‘we need better global vaccination efforts’ they think anti-vaxxers but when that REALLY means is we need to wave patents to allow vaccines to be produced in third world countries and make first world countries who bought out all the vaccines (millions more then they knew they needed) give their vaccines (for free not with strings attached) to those who need it whom were prevented from getting vaccinated through their greed.
Second, in almost all those scenarios, it won’t just be children getting sick. Immuno-compromised people exist (at least 10 MILLION adults in the Us are immno-compromised and those numbers are only rising from the effects of long covid) you can’t just leave them out of the discussion. It perpetuates the borderline (and actual) eugenics going around of leaving those who will bare the brunt of the deaths from the virus out of the conversation.
Again, i like the video, I just think these are important points that shouldn’t have been left out.

Thankfully it looks like Omicron uses a higher T cell immune response than delta which used more A and B cell immune responses. Meaning immunity to Omicron and especially cross infectious variants will be much more consistent. It also appears Omicron is less deadly than delta however the studies are inconsistent due to vaccination rates and past exposure to SARS-COV2. However small scale studies do show that Omicron does seem to hospitalise less people. It is unknown whether the long terms effects are more severe or more consistent though.

If you do masks and social distance, that protects people about 10% more than if you didn't. If you get one shot of the vaccine, you protect yourself up to 54% from the virus, two shots and you're protected 86% from the first wave of the virus (not these new variants), if you mix social distancing and masks with 2 shots, you're protected about 96%, but still people will get the virus, just it won't be so bad. Masks and social distancing alone, won't protect you very much, but you're supposed to use them in combination with the vaccine and that gets the protection up pretty high.
The key is using all the methods at once, which creates a wall of protection. It isn't fool proof, just increasing the odds. So to say that masks are pointless, is just demonstrably wrong.

      Many reasons:
      1. Covid has animal reservoirs and can jump from animals to humans, see cluster 5 mink in Denmark
      2. The immunity generated to this virus is not long lasting, antibodies only last a few months so everyone would need to continually get boosters to eliminate COVID even if the virus never mutated. Protection against severe COVID lasts much longer

@@unoriginal1086 well first of all Jesus is in a religion he's a personal relationship. You see I got saved at home in my living room by God. So how it happened for me was my sister died we all faced up right. So I cried to God I didn't know anything about God you know there's so many different gods. So God just woke me up the day after a funeral I had a mission to look for the truth I didn't know why but God did this to me. By the way the Bible says if you look for the truth you will find it. God also says if you look for him with all your heart you will find him. So I spent about a month looking into God. What I found was religion was perverted and doing a lot of false things. I saw that celebrity sell their souls. I saw that world leaders musicians and athletes were all using hand signs to worship the devil the truth right in plain sight. I even saw them sing to Lucifer in the Vatican. Now all the stuff I say is easily verifiable it's not a conspiracy theory and it's not a joke it's all real. The final straw that broke the camel's back was I saw a testimonies of heaven and Hell which scared the hell out of me not going to lie. After this I went home and I repented my sins to Jesus. God the guy who created everything answered my prayer letting me know I did the right thing. Then I went on my journey of giving up sin at first the obvious ones pornography alcohol drugs cigarettes. After this God showed me my sins and dreams cuz I didn't know. Then God showed me everything I saw about the devil was real. God told me I was in end times and he also told me that we were all kicked out of heaven that's why we're spiritually separated from God. So we're in the Devil's playground and if we die in sin without reconciling with God we go to hell. Now almost everybody goes to hell cuz everybody rejects God even me at my point of my life. Now the Earth is running cycle and God's getting ready to punish the Earth for rejecting him. God isn't what everybody imagines he's a loving God but if you choose sin and the things of this world over him he's not in your corner. So anybody a Muslim Buddhist anybody can come to Jesus all they have to do is ask God for the truth if they're doing the right thing if they want to know the truth God will lead them to jesus. Everybody makes these things about God what about this what about that God knows every single person on the earth and he knows every single person's thoughts on the Earth and he also knows whether you want him or not you can't fool God. The only thing you can do is kiss and make up and fix your relationship. If you don't you'll go under the wrath of God that's just the way he is.

Personally I believe that one of the hardest parts about combating this virus is communication. I think when we finally learn how to handle communicating we can start to see the end of the virus in our daily lives

I remember back in 2020 my class watched a video saying what is COVID-19, fast forward two years later and we are still experiencing it.

In other words, the simple answer is no. No one can guarantee that everyone will be vaccinated and/or if the virus will chuckle & say, "hey I think I want to evolve into something that will require new meds or vaccines to be developed😄". So it will not end this year. I love the research you guys share. It helps me understand some of what we know so far. Having Lupus, I really try to keep myself as informed as possible about any new diseases out there. Thanks again. 😊

      YOU can HELP.
I just wanna say in general: You can support Science-UA-camr.
Even in the worst case, if you dont have time to watch, you can still ‚sub-and-leave’, with even that helping. It helps those that try right now to spread Information
and fight against Misinformation or even Misinformations BIGGER Brother: The conspiracy-theorys!
Professor Dave, Sci Man Dan, ect, ect. They try to help and you can help them.

Vaccine doesn't stop the spread. So even if 100% get it which is impossible. It will still spread and mutate. The mutation is actually saving more lives than the vaccine is anyway.
