- It's a an alltime classic, a movie to be reckoned with till now. Released in 1965 , winner of 13 Oscar that year in all most every sphere of film making.
Did the creators of this film intentionally packed so much bitter-sweetness in this film that many of us cant stop watching this film, yet we can't stop feeling so much sadness and nostalgia and inexpressible amount of love and joy all at once?
I don’t see any bitterness just a wonderful family story of Love and beautiful music with helpful people to assist the family for a HAPPY ending .
Dear@@benrey9,
Dont you recognize that feeling where you deeply love something, yet that thing makes you cry, still you just cant let go of it, instead, you cling even stronger.
It’s absolutely spellbinding ❤

He might not be as polished as the singer they put in the movie, but he has a sincerity that is needed.
One of the most beautiful films I have seen in my life
Absolutely gorgeous. what a touching moment in this film! This level of tender love and caring could never be captured by mainstream Hollywood nowadays
He's very handsome. And what a beautiful song it is
A little red-headed girl sat in a movie theater on her 10th birthday and fell in love at that very moment. That little girl was me 52 years ago. Whenever I was asked who my favorite actor was, I always replied Christopher Plummer.❤
Very close to my heart! ❤😢
I think he sounds amazing 😊❤❤
I would have never guessed that they would have dubbed his voice. It is beautiful. So absolutely full of emotion.
Beautiful...i have loved this film forever
I was six with my late dad when we first saw this masterpiece ❤😢
I always love this movie, and never stop.
❤❤❤
He had a good voice I can’t believe they dubbed him.
Most of all, he as the emotion.
Yes he does.
Should have used Plummer's actual voice. Though it was not perfect it was how a voice sounds when not used in a while. Yet it still was on key perfectly. It would have fit with the film narrative much better.
Totally love this song.❤😊
"bless my home land forever" 😭😭
This sounds more authentic (though it's all acting) than the dubbed I'm glad I got to hear it.
This is wonderful! I've never heard it with Christopher Plummer's voice before. They shouldn't have dubbed his voice.
He couldn't sing.
He could actually sing,
@@teres248 No.
I had no idea! I love how he sings 💜
Can’t help of all the old emotions this songs evokes from the bottom of my soul & what a role it had in my childhood. I only hope that it is not too too woke for this special guy in my life who was born in Germany. Can only hope he can remember treasured times when he was a kid in his father country. ❤️😅💕
First movie I ever saw in a theatre. I will love it forever ❤
How does one take one of cinema's most beloved musical moments and make it better? Show the unedited version with Plummer's actual voice.

This was the movie I saw on my very first date. I was maybe 17. It was a magical night I'll never forget. I have never sat and watched it with anyone including my husband of 45 years. It's just a memory for me.
Film i aktorzy super lubie wracać do tego pieknego filmu😢
Honestly this has been the best movie out n it has lasted for so many generations n it is just a classic show I love it every time i hear any part of the show n it takes me straight back to my childhood Absolutely spectacular 😊
I saw it twice when it came out in 1964 and have seen it dozens of times since then. A superb film with never a full moment.
I have 2 Edelweiss flowers in glass. Picture and a Heart shape glass shape necklace with black Velvet 60 years ago.
I miss my parents. They are from GERMANY. They were teenagers during the war.
Dad had to fight at 17. World war 11.
World war eleven-
Why doesn't they let actors sing then. Jeremy Brett had a beautiful voice too. This is so nice thank you
Greatest movie of all! All categories of Lifestyle can be found in this movie! Congratulations to the Director, Producer and Everyone who has a part in this movie. 😊
Not Christmas without this on
It's racist filth.
My heart is melting❤
What a true gentleman 👏 ❤
oh, this is going to make me cry like a baby. my mom would sing me this song as a baby, it was the only way to make me fall asleep. the “unconfident and untrained” sound (which isn’t even *that* apparent) reminds me of the way my mom would sing it.
O filme mais lindo do mundo. ❤❤❤🙌👍
i loved to sing this song to my grandma when she was in the nering home she had elshimers
Edelweiss is such a beautiful song... specially in German
Christopher plummer .my favourite actor.

It makes me crazy that this song is frequently cut from TV, and even musicals. It is so lovely, and it is central to the movie plot as well as to the response of the Australn populace in WWII. It was (is?) the Austrian national flower, a symbol that was used to covertly resist the Nazis.
Beautiful voice but I understand why they used someone else. His voice is so sophisticated that it makes him sound older than he was. Wish he was still here ❤
Ésta película es bella, que pena que ya hagan así, fue un caso real🙏❤️👍👏
아름다운 추억~ 노래하게 이끌어준 마리아~

... I cry ...I smale...and prayer for you, Julie..don' t stop t,o Sing!!!...Singer...Deyse .Rio Caxias
He reminds me a bit of Elvis ✌️..not sure if it's the haircut, face or voice...
Cómo película me fascina !!! Después salen de Austria tienen 3 hijos y cantan para vivir !! Y ya se vuelve una pesadilla en la vida real....
I've always thought Charmian Carr was lovely; I presume that is her joining in too.
Wish she had done more movies. She said in an interview that her and Plummer were staying at the same hotel.Everynight he would drink and play piano at the bar.
She was dubbed as well ....
@@maestroclassico5801 By someone else, or just herself on recording? I know even Julie's singing in the film wasn't "live", of course. Especially on this clip where we hear the real Christopher Plummer, I wondered if that was a live CC.
@@G6JPG😂😂😂
@@fep.langston293 Oops - CP corrected to CC.
Really disappointed that they didn’t use his voice in the movie. Shame on them
" EDELWEIS " Past World War II the Austrians really had considered to make this song their anathema
Sorry? Edelweiss was written in 1959? They couldn’t have?
Essa música desse filme tao bonito ,e muito inspiradora...
What was wrong with Christopher Plummer's voice that they had to change it?
some executive was fucked in the head....
Are you crazy? They just made his voice deeper by using the voice of Bill Lee! Because, Christopher Plummer could not really sing! ❤❤❤
@@theotyler8350 listen to his natural voice he sings well...and look what he is supposed to be? not fucking Pavarotti
He himself didn't think it was good enough - he knew it was going to be dubbed (I think he worked with Bill Lee on it). I agree, he sings it nicely. It _is_ a "small" voice. (Perhaps OK for a room setting - maybe he didn't think it was strong enough for the concert hall later in the movie? See other videos about it - there are several.)
@@G6JPG one of my favorite songs....and I have about 18000 favorite songs....but the music from mary poppins, fiddler on the roof and The sound of music always take me back too when I was a kid...
Eu e muitos amigos meus adoramos este filme, más em nenhuma rede, App, UA-cam tem o filme completo dublado em português, o que é uma pena !!!
should have kept his voice. it’s way more tender and loving
É uma grande tristeza não ser dublado em português 😢😢
❤
your harmonica?
이러한 가정환경과 풍부함은 많은 자녀양육에 매우 적절
did all other actors sing or were they all dubbed? rev mother, sister nuns, rolf liesel, children?
Captain Von Trapp and the Reverend Mother were both dubbed. The children's voices were "augmented" -meaning they sang, but other singers were added in (including the sisters of both Angela Cartwright and Charmian Carr). If the songs for Max and Elsa hadn't been cut, they would have been dubbed also.
I like to watch english movies where can i watch the full movie?
Disney plus and I think Hulu
Not all Austrians. That is why Maria and the Captain escaped.
Dang. Good point..
💗♾️💡
Script plz
I prefer Plummer's hesitant, shaky voice. NO CONTEST!!! The voice of the singer who dubbed him was too perfect.
Que d emotions avec cette chanson et tout le film idem❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
not closed captioned so I could not enjoy it
what?

Música maravilhosa 😘🌹 Brasil filme lindíssimo 👏👏👏

This revisionist film should be banned as it massively downplays the extent to which Austria supported the Anschluss.
It’s a musical for crying out loud!!!
@@francisblake1549 It is racist filth.
epic trolling but you arent going to get too many bites and no one gives a shit about what austria supported...They didn't in fact..they were annexed and had no say in anything...The catholic church said nothing either...
@@mottthehoople693 Austria voted to ally with Nazi Germany. The Catholic Church actively supported the Third Reich.
Whine, whine, whine, gripe, gripe, gripe. History used to be fun and instructive. Great stories of the past and lessons to be learned from it. Now it's just endless retroactive complaining.
The guitar is a levin👍
I've tried to grow edelweiss on my farm...its pretty hard
