Not the best place to take a example off and then mirror it of the whole of Tunisia. Your asking this question in a area full of rich Tunisians I can guarantee you that because my dad is born and raised there also of a rich family and for him it was easy to escape the system and get school study abroad. But most Tunisian will never be able to so will be stuck and this system. Go outside the Carthage/La Marsa/Sidi bou Said and lac 2 area and you will find the answers most Tunisians will give you

Regardless of their social class, a big chunk of Millennials and Generation Z want to leave Tunisia. I haven't seen any surveys on this subject, so not going to comment on how many Tunisians are in the same boat.
@@NomadElite yes true as a local i can easily say that 90% of genz want to leave, but unfortunately alot of them are monolingual ,many left schools too early to learn second a language.
I don't understand how come that an indigenous to a specific country speaks a foreign language better than his native language. We are fighting to gain our arabic language back and root it deeply into the education system and get rid of the residues of colonialism... and those people are bragging about their french.
I'm sorry what? i'd rather pluck my eyes out than use French only in day to day life. we already use loan words from it which is fine but if anything the language we should use to study should be English. in day to day life our own Tunisian language is great in its own way. we're a culturally diverse country that cannot be represented by the two ladies in this video and if you really wish to know the point of view of Tunisians regarding this subject please find students from all different backgrounds social status and geographical location and i can promise you our young people wish to keep our language for day to day use and use english for both educational and commercial purposes. There is simply no benefit anymore from continuing to use the colonial French languge as the dominant language for both historic cultural reasons and also economical reasons as it only keeps us subserviant to our former colonials, a person who graduates here finds himself mostly fluent in French which pretty much limits his potential to a couple of French speking countries.. life does not adapt to us, we must adapt to it and we're behind them all because we're so fixated on being a a nice little puppy to our "former" masters while other countries moved on and started to finally realise a change.
Quebec and canada in general used to be the land of opportunity with high hope of having a good life if you work hard. But it’s sad to see it’s now becoming woke with high taxes and inflation resulting in declining quality of life.
I have recently traced my family back to Tunis. It was VERY far back. Like. 2k years ago. My eye doctor always said my eyes came from this area. They were far too beautiful for the Scot/Irish green. They were the Egyptian/Tunisian type green heterochromia. Sunflower eyes us what my family has always called them. Is Tunis welcoming to western immigrants? Especially now with the Trumpist people in the USA?
In all of three of the Maghreb countries, they speak French very well. Bilingual education is (almost) the norm as they start learning French at age 8. You will come across people who cannot speak French but that does not happen that often.
Since Africa will most likely see a lot of population and economic growth in the next 30 years, starting with and continuing French study right now is a great idea.
Good to hear our neighbors in Tunisia giving up arabic, i feel the same way here in Algeria, arabic and islam are huge setback, it’s what holding north africa back, I refuse to give birth in this country because of this
if you look at social media you would realize that in the last 10 years arabic is dominant in tunisians conversations. your hate for islam is snowballing to the hate of the arabic language, which is sad. one of the most eloquent and rich languages in the world.

The original native language of Tunisia is tamazight though, not arabic.
It's probably a class thing, signaling social status (I go to a fancy international school, my family can afford tuition fees...).

I assure you that if young Tunisians are growing to use another language more than or as much as Arabic, it's actually English and not French.

Well get out then we are arabs and Muslims and it will never change, Tunisians are NOT giving up on arabic
