Wow, that's high tech kayak fishing! Bummer, you got seasick. The worst feeling. It happens to me almost every time I go to the ocean. The ground swell gets me. Nice job on halibut limits Blake and friends.
Thanks Jerry! Exactly the same here. I don't get seasick in regular Puget Sound. But the rollers get me, even if they're pretty small. So Westport, Neah, sometimes Sekiu.
Get this man on a starship, hes a TROOPER. Dude you were kidding about this video! Wholly cow I read the comments first and then totally forgot, shocked me when you started barfing. Also, id rather drown than squeeze myself in that suit!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Now that came as a shocker Blake.! The guy who loves fishing, is out in a boat all the time gets sea sick. I can’t help but laugh 😆 Either way, nice job on the catch and toughing it out.!
hehehe, with this electric reel reminds me of electric mtb guys vs manual mtb guys, glad you guys got fish! oof are you a seasick Kinda guy? I gotta do the first vomit and I'm good for the rest of the boat ride XD
Yep! I get terrible seasickness. Only way I've found to beat it is multiple days on the water. Pretty common for me to barf/dry heave 5 or 6 times if I'm fishing hard.
It happens to all of us. I think the best yield to flavor ratio is about 65# for halibut. I take bigger ling, but 28-32 inches is definitely the best eating.
Helpful tip for seasickness: if you dont take dramamine, take some crystallized ginger. Conveniently I learned this from a fiction book I read as a kid, but it holds true - ginger alleviates sea sickness. Take some before getting on the boat and keep some onhand to chew/suck on while onboare.
@@WAFishQuestOne seasick person to another, I hope it helps! (My folks and I went fishing in Alaska a few years back - I was good all the way up until the boat stopped. I threw up within the first 10 minutes. I was in this weird state of seasick delirium the rest of the trip but was lucky to catch two cod through it all; we had 12 foot swells and were bracing vertical against the railing through much of it. I didnt have ginger then, but I did on a separate, much calmer trip and was ok).
Oh man, I can empathize big time on the barfing. I haven’t taken my yak in the ocean yet just because of that. Great that you were rewarded for the suffering though.
You paid the price for that cod and halibut. Glad to hear that you typically rally, though. The only time I've been halibut fishing was off from Oregon. I pulled up a 46 inch hen (she was loaded with eggs). She was good tasting the first day, but the meat dried out really fast and got mealy the longer it sat in the freezer. If I go out again, I'll be looking for 30-40 inch chickens. Anything over 45 inches will be going back to produce more halibut.
Well I gotta say I fish for halibut out of Victoria and my fav for eating is the 30ish pound fish but catching anything over 50 is fun fun fun. Again Blake you made a great video your content and adventures are very similar to what I do in southern bc. Tha ks for filming the fun.
Are the smaller fish on the ring o' death at the end of the video count as "bottom fish"... are they "starry flounder" or some such, and not "halibut" .... I think that's the reg and species, but was surprised to see those in that final photo. Awesome video. Headed to Sekiu thursday for our annual spearing trip.... psyched!
Hey Belcher! Those are actually rock sole I believe. (Gigantic ones). And indeed they're part of the general bottomfish limit, not the halibut limit. Thanks for asking! 😊
Well, keep in mind I'm a very skilled kayak halibut angler. All I need is a much better fisherman to peddle me to their coordinates, give me their rod, bait my hook, and tell me when to set. Pure skill! 💪
Your Grampa always got sea sick too. Hard on a Navy guy. I didn’t realize how much you and Chad resemble each other until this video. Did you like the kayak? And dry suit?
Hey Blake nice video nice halibut where exactly we’re fishing at out in Neah Bay I want to make a trip out there soon if you can say I remember like 10 years ago I went there with an old friend to a place called garbage dump if I’m not mistaken Blake it’s all good I have been just like you there I chummed the waters before out of Westport and caught more fish them my buddy.
Kayaking and puking all in one episode! I'm hooked.
Not the chum😂😂. Awesome video
Thanks Levi! No mouth of the Hoko River to save me this time!
Now that’s what I called a quest, insane! Kayak for halibut, great stuff and nice catch. 👍
Thank you Slab Slayers! Peter put me right on the fish. All I had to do was reel em up!
Great episode Blake!
Thanks brother!!
Nice! Peter cool guy, helps a lot to figure neah bay fishery.
Thank you for saying that! Peter was so selfless taking me out!

Welcome to Washington Puke Quest.
Washington Puke Fact: Blake had a cheeseburger with onion rings for dinner. (They tasted better going down)!
You are a trooper for reeling and yaking.
Thank you! I used the yak to grease the reel (j/k... Maybe)

Thanks Tony! More where that came from. Much, much more!

Blake excited for the Seahawks season I can’t wait🥳💙💚

Awesome catches. Sucks about the sea sickness. Nice seeing more fish quests. 👍
Thanks Brett! Yeah, it's my personal curse. That's what I get for hitting a wizard with my car I guess.

As a huge fan of the film Starship Troopers this is the greatest line I've heard in a while! J-Swizzy is doing their part! 🫡
Brother nice to see you out with the fantastic plastic fleet! Feeding the fish may get you in trouble with the Game Warden!
Lol dang anti-chumming laws. Thank you Kevin!
Come on blake, you know your supposed to chum before hooking up. Lol
Awesome video
Oh, BEFORE. Where were you then Don?! 😅
@@WAFishQuest im reserving my chum for salmon season 😆😆
Oh, Blake, I feel for you. I couldn't last very long without up-chucking. Glad you caught some good fish!
Thank you Joe! Yeah, if I've deep sea fished 30 times, I've puked at least 28 of those times.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Wait a second! That's not funny at all Curt! In fact probably the saddest thing ever! 😅
Nice!
Thanks Kirk!!
Nice! Shrimping video?
Thank you Sam!! I didn't film a shrimping video this year. But it's not too late!

I was thinking the same thing “chumming up the water”. 😂
Fantastic episode Blake and Mark!
Thanks YAFK! Peter spoon fed me that halibut. All credit to him. 😊
thumbs up just for the puke n rally. good vid!
Thank you thank you, Fresh Coast Life! Yeah, it's my curse.
Good day, some nice fish, and from a kayak to boot! Getting out of the drysuit was probably just as much fun! haha
Good day Mike! It's about 20 days later and I'm still wearing the dry suit. We are one now.
That chumming was the best 😂😂😂, ohhhh I hate that feeling
Yeah it's the worst alright! Thanks for the solidarity! ✊
That's great work, especially on a 'yak. Well done fellas.

Thank you NW Open Season! Yeah I'm a regular barf machine in the big water! Terrible feeling, but worth it.
Halibut on kayak, that's impressive, great work, master blake.
Thank you Bashi! 🙏 I see your shad season is off to a great start!
Thank you for the video! Was it scary at all being out there in a kayak? This is on my bucket list
Peter is a super pro, so not with him. By myself, I would have been out of my depth for sure.
Were ya using Rays Baits Black Label? Lol
Maybe! Peter had a big bucket of em.
Tribal guy gave me a 3 gallon bucket filled but most green label
Just like me haha chumming the water and all 😂

Hey Carlos! They're Peter's coordinates so I'm not exactly sure. Inner Neah tho, not far off garbage dump I think.
Great video.
Suggestion: If you puke on those halibut I bet you can de-life them faster than you can with a blast from a .410.
Great idea Mo! Especially if I can focus the puke like a high pressure water cannon. 🤔
Yeah, they catch a lot of those in front of my home on the straits…..
Yeah pete!
How deep were you fishing??
I think we were around 250 or so. Definitely shallower than 300.
@WAFishQuest thanks , I'm subscriber for many years. You always helps alot
Great vid -- also, there's not a person here who has never done any 5 point chumming at one time or another. 🤢
Thanks Corb! Yeah, for me it's part of the routine out of Neah or Westport. How it goes.
