Alicent loves him. When he asked her if he loved her and she answered with "you imbicile" that was clearly her calling him an idiot for even thinking that she might not love him. Despite that though I don't think she managed to make him feel loved at all so he probably did feel like Sunfire and maybe his kids were the only ones who loved him.

Also, the only being that loves him is Sunfrye, his dragon- no real family support whatsoever.

It’s actually interesting how Aegon speaks to Sunfyre in English, and it shows how close their bond is. In season one, they said he had “complete mastery” over Sunfyre. Which means he has completely bonded with him without using Valyrian, that’s very impressive. And canonically, they have the closest bond between any dragon and rider in asoiaf. It’s very cute

I actually forgot that line about Aegon's relationship with Sunfyre. I honestly wish they would have included a bit more of that. They never really showed them together. So I'd forgotten and was thinking more that Aegon had less control because he wasn't using High Valyrian. So that detail adds a bit more perspective, I think. Would've been nice to see a bit more.

@@TheCuriousCaseofJace It really does suck that they didn’t show us more of their bond, and that the first time we see him in his full glory is right before he gets mangled. And for him having less control, I think it’s because he was extremely drunk. He drank that entire flagon of wine and went headfirst into battle hotheaded. Sunfyre had his back, but maybe they could’ve done some real damage to Meleys if Aegon was sober

Visenya would never use common sense? Vhagar was not under the influence of Aemond when she ambushed Arrax. Therefore, Vhagar either learnt this from his previous battle rider or learnt it right then and there. I'm inclined to believe she learnt it from Visenya. Plus, it is more important for Aemond to utilise this technique because Vhagar has gotten so big by the time he rides her.

Technically, the Battle of Rook's Rest is a Pyrrhic Victory for both sides (a draw) They both inflict heavy damages on each other but also lose a lot. The Greens are so far ahead in that they are the ones making moves, employing strategy and tactics like setting a trap for the Blacks (which was the plan all along with Rook's Rest) The Blacks are behind because of waiting too long. Then again, this is early days of the Dance of Dragons. Things should pick up eventually and it becomes hard to know which side is winning. Their respective allies have yet to come into the fray. Barartheon, Lannister & Hightower armies for the Greens and the North and the Vale for the Blacks. Daemon is yet to unify the Riverlords for the Blacks.

Then you see how deadly things like lions, tigers, bears, sharks are and how easily they can mess us up. So needless to say people crap themselves if an angry animal comes at them. Now with that in mind imagine a giant dragon that can breathe fire flying towards you. Yup, I'd crap myself and run crying to my mom and I'm a full grown dude 😂 Seeing that on the battlefield would be absolute heart dropping. no- i never expected aegon to be a character i liked or felt sympathy for (especially when he does crimes), but all of his issues have understandable sources (mostly lack of guidance/parenting + privilege + pressure) and he’s become one of the most interesting and enjoyable characters of the series for me.
he went from walking to his coronation with tear tracks down his face, to triumphantly waving a sword around happy because he’s being shown love/admiration that he never got from his parents.
he went from as a teen saying he just wouldn’t challenge rhaenyra (as in seeing her as legitimate), to an adult who calls his sister the queen of bastards and abandons his own in child fighting rings.
with a character like joffrey boratheon, u never get the sense that the character could have been redeemed at any point. but with aegon, one rly has to wonder how he would have turned out if he had better guidance/support and less pressure when he was younger.

@@beezyqueen I think he is a bit different from what you describe.
12 year old Aegon didn't want to challenge Rheanyra, not because he thought she was legitimate, but because he didn't care for the throne. That was the only reason. Or atleast the main reason.
Aegon is currently 19, still a teenager.
Aegon never abandoned his child in the fighting pit. He has no idea his child is there, he has no idea he even has a bastard. The show never said he knew this.

Meleys is not faster than Vhagar. A sparrow can't fly faster than a hawk. When it comes to straight line speed size matters. Meleys is likely more maneuverable, but Rheanys knew she couldn't get away from Vhagar because she would run her down and attack from behind. What she should have done is first not fly directly over the only object Vhagar could ambush her from and zig-zagged her way to places she could hide, but that would have been very difficult. She knew she couldn't go back to Dragonstone because Aemond would have followed her there and destroyed her anyway and the castle.

Hey Meesh and Dee, "Happy Tuesday".This was a great episode with so much going on. Daemon is constantly hallucinating seeing those of the past that haunts him as he's trying to gather soldiers from Harrenhal. Alicent still processing with what happened with her reunion with Rhaenyra as well did Viserys choose Aegon as heir to the stone. Is asking the Maester for some tea in which she takes in which appears she's pregnant by the way she touch her stomach. In which I feel Larys Strong knows during their conversation.
Aegon does not like that he's not being respected. As Aemond and Cole make decisions behind his back. You can see the tension between Aegon and Aemond as Aemond wants to get back at Aegon for embarrassing him at the brothel. As well Alicent showing her disappointment in him with Aegon killing the Ratcatchers and removing his father as Hand. In which pushes Aegon to take part in the battlefield.
Cole took down Duskendale, Rosby, and Darkyln. Forcing some men of Darkyln to side with the Greens as Cole killed Lord Darkyln. With his hand arriving at Dragonstone in which forces Rhaenys to go into the battle knowing that Rhaenyra is important to the throne as she's expandable. The battle with Dragons so well done. Damn Aemond really tried to take Aegon out along with Rhaenys lol. RIP to Rhaenys who died on the battlefield. I'm looking forward episode 5. But anyway I hope you two have a wonderful day. battle plan explanation:
cole moved on rooks rest because rhaenyra doesnt have an actual standing army. shes basically trapped on dragon stone with just dragons and most dont even have riders. which is why she requires so much diplomacy before she can just go to war. with coles previous attacks on her smaller house supporters he's set a precedent that he's fighting without a dragon all while coming up with a plan with aemond behind the aegons back. so hearing that cole is moving on rooks rest and because rhaenyra doesnt have an army her only choice is to send a dragon. but she only has 4 dragons available for any purpose. technically only 3 because its too dangerous to put her at risk. she doesnt want to loose her son either so shes not gonna send him into any battles, and baelas dragon is probably the smallest rideable dragon alive. so only rhaenys is available for actual combat against people shooting arrows at her. even if aemond wasnt there, all it takes is one arrow to hit her. also she could only send rhaenys because baela and moondancer would barely scratch vhagar, even during a 2v1 in fact she'd probably just get in rhaenys' way. so thats why things played out how you saw them. the reason rhaenys came back was because 1. she had to protect rooks rest the reason she came. 2. she could probably have beaten vhagar in a 1v1 without aemonds sneak tactis. she was able to wrestle vhagar to the ground not only hurting vhagar but also coles army.
so yeah while it may seem like a bad idea, sending rhaenys alone was the best thing to do with the options presented. otherwise you just get baela or jace killed for nothing

@@AriSellassie Meleys was hardly a challenge for the monstrous vhagar & Aemond.
Sunfyre's fire had almost no effect on meleys, but vhagars fire did. Vhagars fire
was hotter than sunfyre's flames, vhagars flames had a visible effect on meleys. You can see where Rhaenys has sut all over her body from vhagars flames.
Meleys scratch on Sunfyre tore her up badly, but when she used it on vhagar it didnt do much damage at all due to vhagar having much thicker scales than sunfyre.
Meleys had to get a little distance from vhagar, then loop back around. Meleys wasnt able to get turned around in time before vhagar moved.
Meleys never stood a chance of beating Vhagar in a 1v1.
So many people aren't understanding what happened in this fight. Meleys didn't knock vhagar down, it's actually the exact opposite. Vhagar was the one who brought the fight down to the ground
As vhagar and meleys flew towards each other, Vhagar grabbed Meleys by the leg and broke it, then began dragging meleys down to the ground. Vhagar knew meleys wouldn't be able to take flight again with a broken leg, which would've made her a sitting duck.
As they got closer to the ground Vhagar had to release meleys leg so she could start slowing her own descent rate, thus cushioning her landing.
Meleys almost touched the ground, but she had just enough time/altitude to flap her wings to create lift and save herself from impact with the ground.

Great reaction! I just want to point out that Rhaynis was a boss in that fight, she was clearly outclassing Aegon. In the fight versus Vagar, she had the upper hand, she had wounded Vagar already and threw him to the ground. I think she went back cause she just thought she could be them. Only real reason why she gets got there is she is flying low surveying the area. Also important to point out it is a bit different in the book. Great reaction ladies, love you guys!

Meleys scratched Vhagar in the chest, but it didn't seem to affect her any. I don't know in which part you thought Meleys had the upper hand? Vhagar had her grabbed on first contact and they were throwing fire at each other while spiraling down. She didn't throw her to the ground, they both let go to brace for impact of the fall. Meleys was just able to recover much faster, you can see her flying off by the time Vhagar even begins to stand back up. I just don't see any scenario there where Meleys would win. Not even close lol

Rhaenys doesnt leave the battle because if she leaves then they loose the castle for sure, she knew fighting Vhagar was gonna mean her death but she was hoping to take aemond with her. And without aemond vhagar has no rider and will no longer partake in the war unless someone else claims her.

    Today’s word was Grouse. Lol
Also, how DARE Alicent come at Aegon like that? SHE raised him. If he’s not proving to be a good king it’s her fault for not raising him and preparing him better. He didn’t even want to be king, they forced it on him and now she berates him for failing to fill the role adequately. He told you he wasn’t fit for the role, you KNEW you raised him to not be fit for the role and now it’s his fault he hasn’t risen to the occasion? He’s a child of his surroundings. Screw her. No wonder he turned to debauchery and drinking to numb his feeling of inadequacy. Aegon is a tragic figure, not a villain.

Well what could she do? Aemond's just isn't bright. He's a dullard. You can't fix that. It's Aemond that is the bright shinning star among her offspring and she ruined his potential. Too bad he wasn't sent to Raynera to be fostered as her third son Daeron was when they sent him away to be fostered outside of Kings landing. Aemond would have turned out much better under the care of Raynera. Probably a completely different person but still a brilliant, educated young man and a fierce warrior.

@@Shazzam12 False, the results clearly prove otherwise. Additionally, the source material is purposely wrong. It is told from the perspective of an observer and like all history told from second hand sources it's inherently wrong. Only the three-eyed Raven (GRRM) knows the true history. This writing style leaves itself open to film and TV shows to create the actual cannon as long as they don't change the final outcomes they can fill in the true details. Case in point, in the source indicates Ameond and Aegon worked as a team to battle Rheanys and from an observer that may appear to be correct, however, that wasn't the case at all. The TV show revealed what really happened. It will be the cannon, not the book.
