Thanks - very helpful. New to doubles, and really needed a few simple rules to get started in understanding strategy. Great basic principles for a new doubles player, and gives us something to build off of. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
Thank you Coach Ryan. My son and his friend were talking part in Under 12 Boys USTA tournament. Before watching this video inspite of knowing what to do, both end up playing all their points from baseline. After watching this video, they were able to visualize it better, and literally as you say at the end on each video, they were able to win more double matches. Thanks for all your videos and good work.
Kids just need experience playing doubles. A lot of the issue for them is they are small and most juniors can’t volley very well relative to their ground strokes
Great basic video he’s 100% right HOWEVER rec level players have so many problems it makes even these mundane tactics hard to execute. Big one being they are constantly looking behind themselves lol. Out there playing doubles like they’re a great horned owl
Two comments- as the player in the back is ready to hit, the net player needs to be watching the opposite net player, not turning around to watch his partner. The net players should be watching the player who can hurt them first. Also, net players hitting to opposing net players works when the ball is up, not when it is below the net. Hitting up to the opposing net player is a disaster in the making.
