An old stone mason once taught me that your top course should comprise your latest heaviest stones, besides the ones you used for your foundation... This way its harder for anyone or thing to just knock or pull them out of place, and they increase the gravity role in holding every thing together...
Nice work! Lots of character within your wall. I only wish you used larger cap stones. For some reason, kids like climbing and walking along the edges of stone walls, intentionally or unintentionally knocking over smaller cap stones. With that said, great job
@@plantguy902 you stack 2 stones over 1, and 1 stone over 2, so the joints are always "staggered" like we say in construction. if not you end up having 1 long vertical joint that ends up being a serious weak poin in a stone wall....
Thank you! Every job is different but more often than not I do not use landscape fabric. Weeds do not typically pop up through the wall, the top of this one will get mulched and planted by the homeowner and the lawn will grow up to it at the base. If you keep those things maintained and an occasional weed pokes through somewhere, you pluck it out but I haven’t seen any weed activity in my walls in the past
Including the prep work of the area and sourcing the rocks (removing them from another site, loading, and dumping them on the work site) and completely finishing the wall, about 40 hours

Thank you for showing us how it’s done. I’m having a smaller one done.
You make me remind myself not to overcomplicate dry stack
2 over 1, 1 over 2 always a good rule of thumb , but yeah I was thinking the same thing watching this
@fittestofthefittest what's this rule refer too?

Great video keep it up . How do you keep weeds out from between the boulders ? Do you use landscape fabric behind the wall ?

How many hours in the wall that you showed at first?

Wonderful
Damn
Замечательный фильм, но
звуки и грохот, отдалённо
напоминающие музыку,
отвратительны !
