I love how the commentators, both Sajam and the ones for Topanga League, often say the same thing. It was great hearing them go "Now, *this* is Street Fighter." right before Sajam says "Fighting games are one of the only genres where doing nothing is hype."
Japan still being fairly insular by modern nation standards makes seeing the meta differences really interesting to watch. Like Luke falling off a cliff among pros or Akuma being that dominant.
Honestly I’m glad japan is out here enjoying Ed because the way I’ve always felt about the whole “his jab is bad” take is that EVERYTHING ELSE he has is pretty decent. The better the player is, the less those small weaknesses seem to matter since he can dish out some serious pressure and damage from mid screen to close range.
jumping in to sf6 from the season 2 hype has been quite the whiplash, all i find in regards to match footage channels is "akuma vs x" matches, or worse, akuma mirrors. i have high hopes for season 2's character spread!
Early on it was like this with other characters too. It will ebb and flow during the season for sure. At launch people complained about Honda more than any other character, but that dropped off fast.
I’m super interested in hearing your commentary on Hibikis matches. He’s insane and watching his play in this has really illustrated a lot of stuff I need to implement and improve.
Hey Sajam I don't know if it would possible but it would be nice if you could record while watching these vods because watching a vod of a vod ends up being a bit blurry. Anyways thanks for your great work keep it up!❤
It has been a blast watching the Ed pool because the commentary team is always like "Is this it? Is it the Dream?" whenever players started the desync combos. Because of course, Momochi has been calling it the "Dream" combo when he doing labbing for it, etc. It's also pretty amazing how well Kobayan has been doing - and I've been pulling hard for Itazan but he's been having trouble in his pool. I wonder if it is the character or the player matchups (it's the players).
5:00 the meaty double hit projectile also makes it basically impossible to get perfect parry reversal'd and you recover from it fast enough to DI back or jab to break DI armor - OD DP is the only reversal that beats it
When Sajam's explaining what a Topanga is, I just wanted him to say "It's this really hot girl from the 90s" or something cus boy meets world is all I can think of when I hear Topanga 😂
I know the stakes are higher these days, so the character choices make sense, but anyone miss when character specialists were more common ? I guess SF6 is too young still, but I don't get a lot of " This guy is one of the only player making this character work ! " stuff going on yet.
The weeks prior with ppl saying he may not be as good cause Tokido wasnt playing him blew my mind, like dude have you tried him for five mins? Hes incredible
I love Akuma but man its been Akuma season all day everyday every week ever since his drop. Out of all my matches i get one different character every 5-7 matches which are just Akuma mirrors. This mini balance patch that's coming with bison better change some things
Fair complaint but also hilarious to hear from a akuma main that there's too many akumas I don't mind as much cause I don't play him and half the players play differently and he has enough tools to where they play slightly different or wrongish to where it's interesting
@@Dhampire1976There’s no indication that the patch accompanying Bison will have any significant balance changes. It’s just UI/QOL stuff, and perhaps some bug fixes. To my knowledge I’ve seen every video on the Bison build as well as statements from capcom staff and social media, haven’t seen a single mention of actual balance changes. The last balance patch was like a month ago, and while they did say that they’d be patching more often than 1 patch per year… I doubt they’d go from one patch per year to one per *month*. But if you have info I’m not aware of, I’d love a link to it!
Cam anyone explain why people hate Zangief so much? He literally struggles every match, is not even top tier, however a character like Akuma and evil Ryu just goes crazy and destroys you with mixes, vortex and combos. Yet slow Zangief people are like "Please make him worse" they could just remove him from the game since he's hated so much even though he has disadvantage
If I had a nickel for every time a character got released as a simplified input beginner pick in a game, and then became a super high technical one in the next game of its serie, I'd had two, but it's weird it's happened twice. ( Ed in SF5 > SF6, and Jack'O in Xrd > Strive )
Gotta disagree with sajams crouching medium kick take. just my opinion but I’d rather have farther reaching moves than faster walk speed. I also don’t necessarily think his walk speed makes his crouching m kick that great, it’s still an above average button tho and is also comparatively better than a lot of characters because it’s cancellable. His crouching m punch tho. That shite so good.
Imo, Ed strong but more so he's very flexible with his movement. Which I'm sure is fun! I never understand the jab complaint, he's got some kind of short punch that hits me a bunch up close. I should investigate why that's worse than having a standard jab that reaches further... Study the game?!?!

Ed is honestly so much fun to watch I'm glad so many people are picking him up, just legitimately consistently fun to watch
Street fighter 6's dedication to making the franchise most mid characters fun and unique never fails to impress me
Daigo gives me inspiration that I can make it to master on Guile without learning a single real combo. 2MP 2MP Flash Kick, don't fail me now
Got to diamond just throwing booms and that combo with flash kicks
I did that with Honda.

They got the balance near perfect for the entire cast and then gave us Akuma haha
@sloesty Tbf the good balance was super brief as Ken JP was dominating tourneys

Ty for the SF6 content, Sajam. Always appreciate it!
Yeah Akuma is 100% a stable tournament character. Fear is bait whiff into DP.
Akuma walks so fast, everytime it makes me laugh 🎶

What do you mean Itabashi was calling Daigo old? Itabashi's 43 lol
I think it was more 'old man reactions.' As in he was calling out Daigo not being able to react to a raw DI.

I think Im an Ed upplayer, very tough to pilot but his potential is enormous imo
Ohh he's amazing
I like upplaying characters. For example, I think Ken is B+ tier. 😅
I think the future of Ed is in the fact that he can get so much without spending Drive Gauge.
I'm still surprised by how much they love Ed.
Gief getting the best head in the thumbnail
Don't tell us Japan complainers are going to get Zangief nerfed :(

I wonder how much the Japanese players reluctance to air fireball with Akuma is based on the fact they have so many Ed players too.
1:04:30 Ken’s low forward doesn’t hit?
1:11:49 Completely random detail, but if you dont get the poem text during the demon its not gonna kill, its an easy way to tell on a demon hit
