Hey Cookie 🍪 eaters! If you missed it, here is our first video on the top five modeling tools you'll need to model anything in Blender - ua-cam.com/video/kejQ8nX5YZA/v-deo.html Thanks for being part of the Cookie movement! - Wes
What the name of the addon dat shows what you're pressing in the workplace?
Coming from someone that works in Blender quite a lot, I still forget to use several of these. What a great tips video. Thank you.
Yay! Glad it helped - Wes
If you turn on the Loop tools you can create a circle
Exactly what I was thinking, though I appreciate the approach with the Vanilla tools for beginners who haven't jumped into Add-ons yet.
@@hazchickgames2840 Why loop tools isn't part of standard tools is beyond me. If I'm ever doing a fresh install of Blender it's literally the first add-on I enable.
Loop tools are part of blender, you just have to enable it.
Not a circle if you have 40 vertex and need make a esphere or something similar this tool make this .......in the example he make a circle ...
@@michaeltyers7336 If everyone's favorite tool was enabled by default, you'd have 6000 hot keys to learn. :-)
This is actually an amazing practice project. Super useful and helps people practice not only all the shortcuts but also understand how each tool is used.
I was having frustrating issues with the bridge edge loop part. It was creating entirely too many verticies when bridging and took me about 15 annoying minutes to figure out, but I found the solution:
When I created my circle in the center, I needed to make sure it was 100% aligned on the Z axis, exactly the same as the outer cirlce and that fixed the issue. Hope this helps anyone who had the same issue.
omg ty
Wooow honestly for me this was the ultimate tutorial for hard surface modelling , its so rich in information that I will be watching this particular tutorial every time I do modelling , I just love your tutorials , I just hit the bell can't wait for more like this tutorial
A very cool, clear and precise explanation. I love the way you bring the basics to very concrete projects. Tkx mate.
0:00 This guy is so good at blender he can make stuff without even looking at it, or even using the keyboard or mouse...Amazing.
hahahaha
This is just the tutorial I was looking for. Very useful for me. Thank you for sharing!
Good tutorial to learn a few things, but I still reccomend including fixing N-Gons, whether they are high-impact or low-impact. You should never have N-Gons in a final model.
My only other addition is more of a personal preference/Game Dev specific tip. Unless this controller is some big hero piece, floating geometry would be preferred for both the stick and the face button, as opposed to it all being one combined mesh. To save on poly's.
Strategic use of Floating Geometry was hard to learn, as I was first taught that everything should be one piece at all times and later learned that, atleast in game-dev, floating geometry is nearly required for optimization.
Hey, i'm new to Blender, so I just want to make sure I understand what you're suggesting. Do you mean that the button could have easily just been a solid mix of cylinders that sat "on top" of the base? hovering so close to the other mesh that you wouldnt be able to tell it was hovering?
@@gavinator354 the link below is a good example to what it is and how its used
ua-cam.com/video/o6zkYB5E1lo/v-deo.html
@@perciacc6754 holy crap thats awesome. thanks so much!
@@gavinator354 it could probably be clipping through the face, not above it, through it.
One of the best blender tutorials I ever saw
thank you I've been working with blender for awhile now and I just found out about the merge tool!
Such good tips! I never knew about some of these and I'll be looking forward to using them in the future! Good job Chris!
Perfect. Fast, easy and full of tips and tricks... thx
These tutorials are spot on man, amazing stuff.
I think your videos have been the best that I’ve found so far. Thank you.
Absolutely loving these tutorials. Such a great, levelheaded introduction to these various tools!
This should continue as series 😀
I really like you tutorial style! No wasted time or resource
First video was like 7 minutes, this one is 13, nothing too confusing but alot of useful stuff fit into the time, Chris is a good teacher
This is the best simple demonstration of KB shortcuts.
thanks for help beginners like me for basic fundamentals . keep up good work
9:00 modifier "WeightedNormal" helped me many times with that
This is gold ! Thx
I love your tuts brother
Really informative
Bro you nailed it
Thank you
lightwaver here taking the plunge, blender has powerful modelling tools. thanks for the tute.
Great videos as always!!!
This was great, thank you.
Great tutorial to practice modeling in Blender.👍
Great tutorial - thank you for your the clear explanation. I also love your edits of the joystick with what technique is coming up next and the pace of the music keeps me focused. Great work!
I agree, its so snazzy and makes me excited for whats next!
thank you so much!!!!
💙
Thank you so much very useful 3D designing video .
love it!
Million thanks for sharing
so many features to learn and use... wish I had more hours in the day to learn all these things!
upto the point explained 👌
Inefficient workflow for when he bridged the edge loops, also the bad topology at the bottom could have easily been fixed
Also the 2 concave ploys for the button. At least make some triangles?
I don't think it would affect the shading.
i learned alot thanks❤
Love the Ford truck background music makes the tutorial more thrilling
Can you tell me this Baground music namr
Thanks for video! Like as always. Will you show next steps? With visualization?
Great. I love how basic this is and with the on-screen keys displayed. I'm somewhat annoyed by the background music but I'll survive for now :D
these vids inspire me
Thanks 😁
Nice job!
thank you cookie man
it reminded me of my first atari 🤩
Thanks for the tutorial I really enjoyed it a lot
You got 9 subscribers
Thank You
Nice. I use those features.
8:13 when the shape is relatively simple, yeah you can delete the faces, but when the shape is a little bit complex, you can also hide a section of the model, and then add the loops you want. After that you can unhide by Alt+H. That is the method you want yourself to get familiar with. this is a well made tips video, liked.
that's great! thanks for sharing man!
Thanks for watching!
my pleasure!
Sou do Brasil, gosto muito dos seus tutorias, estou aprendendo muito com você! Obrigado
Brilliant, love the way you guys explain stuff!
Does your paid online course have support or a forum where we can find answers. This will be helpful for newbies who get stuck
I got myself another 3D item, and you sir got a like... thx
Awesome
Thanks for sharing 😃🇨🇴
This new video style is so awesome. Great work on this one!
great video
Interesting to watch the tutorial until the end, curious, what the final result will be
Instead of using the Loop cut when adding the button. I would have just selected the top and bottom edges of the side face then search > subdivide. which would create the points in the middle of that face. you'd have to recreate the face on bottom either way but it just feels more natural to me to do it that way.
There should be a Love button for us to click. The Like button is not enough.
Hey ! I love that you do an beginner tutorial. But at 8:00 that was the best time do explain how pols work. And how you can clever merg Vertex to get rid of this Ngons. I know some of the beginners will say.. Maaaan .. why. But learn to topo correctly at the beginning is key. I spend hours to relearn this hole process to understand how topology works. Because no one explain it in these beginner lessons.
Another way to use Bridge Edge Loop is to press Ctrl + E and select it from menu
Leaving the n-gon there felt like a personal attack xd
yes
I'm new to Blender, but I've used CAD for several years now, and this kind of seem like hard way of creating this shape. I guess I'll find out soon enough.
if you would 'box cut'the ouside part after you insert, you dont need to add, a circle and delete the geometry, you can jus slide the edges, to make it more rounder
Man, I wish I was that clever.
1:40 this would’ve been useful for a few things I already completed😫
Same, on 3dsmax you can use a modifier named spherify or a tool to force vertex to make a circle, I search quickly on internet for blender and didn't find, but I see this is pretty much the same name
@@erwandelfour5172 there is an add-on called "loop tools" which does this, idk why it isnt automatically on, its extremely useful. when u turn it on, select the vertices you want to make into a circle and right click > loop tools > circle
Good
You know the artist is a pro when he doesn't delete the default cube
I have been modeling for a while but I having issue everytime and I cant detect where it is so guess I need to learn everything one by one
on 12:17 - why this new line didn't soothed by subdivision modifier?
What version of blender are you using? After you adjust the size of the joystick then go to add the bevel modifier, it shows on your blender two big rectangles, one says vertices and the other says edges with the edges rectangle highlighted. Mine doesn't have that. And when I follow you're steps it doesn't smooth my model like yours does
Reminde me a lot about working in aerospace. Why is there never enough time for you to do the video right, but there is plenty of time for us to play it several times to figure out what you are saying?
I am using Blender 2.93 not sure if the bridge loop tool has changed some how but my ciricle closed off with faces going across it ...So mine was because the circle mesh was a little bit to big and after I shrunk it down now working as expected
yaaaes nice you took your time and made a comment about it, is scaled it down and there was still something wrong, flipped 180 degrees and now it works :))
@@gustavnordkildchristensen1684 could you pls tell me what did you exactly do? im a beginner so i couldnt fix it
@@djordjestokic7962 when you have made the circle, if it looks wierd with a lot of edges, crossing over, then try flipping the circle around, i had to turn my over the x axis 180 degrees, but try flipping it on all axis and see for your self :)
hope it makes sense :/
@@gustavnordkildchristensen1684 Thanks alot man, it worked :D I just rotated by 180 degress on Z axis
my circle for the button segment was not matching up, the vertices aren't matching or aligned in edit mode?? HELP!
Figured it out, turn off Realtime on subdivide!
Wait, why wouldn't you just use loop tools > circle and then use a loop cut (ctrl + R)?
No offense but this is how I did stuff when I didn't know about any of the mesh editing tools
Probably because he wants to show how you would do it in stock Blender. I use LoopTools to tho.
Because he already showed it off in another video about the tools. It's nice to show different things.
Now I'm curious about what LoopTools is, thanks ☺️
I'm a simple man, I see an Atari controller and I click
I don't know what to do with a circle that you mention at 6:27, it has these points around it and I can't access the actual vertices of the circle to manipulate it/incorporate into the big mesh, if that makes sense
same
It’s only the same as extrude and scale in this particular example. If you did extrude then scale on something that wasn’t planar you would get two different results. Otherwise brilliant video. ☺️
the geometry completely distorts where the joystick joins the first circle on the base, also the bevel doesnt create nice smooth corners like with yours and Ihave check i have the same settings in the bevel.
EDIT: I found I had overlapping verts and faces so a quick select all verts and M merge by distance fixed that and bevel now works like in the video
U saved me :D
Thanks
Hello! Please tell me what you did at 6:48? Tnx
On the Bridge edge loop portion, my Blender keeps filling up the space inside the inner circle 😢 Any tips as to why that might be ?
me toooo need help
Check the normals and make sure they're facing outwards
Just got my MacBook Air M1 16GB ram, (my first somewhat powerful computer) do you guys think it will be good enough for a good blender experience?
Stay on evee for your render to avoid warming too much the processor and you should be fine, i use old pc with 8gb for students and as long you stick to hard modeling and you’re not too greedy with the rendering, shading process you’ll be fine. You can look up optimization for blender on entry level computer on youtube too
@@abaratien thanks for the tip! Had no Idea that was a factor to consider
how i can remove those lines around my "circle"? at 06:45
something that bothers me a lot is that you can't chose which vertex to snap to which vertex when you select a group of vertices. Hopefully they'll improve it in future updates
Yeah switching back from Maya, the lack of this incredibly basic feature was PAINFUL. Thankfully there's a slightly hacky workaround: go to the origin drop down menu at the top of the screen and make sure active is selected. Then in vertex mode, select everything you want to move, then shift + double click on the vert you want to use as your snapping point. What you're actually doing is unselecting and then re-selecting that vert, which (since active is based on the last thing selected) moves the origin to that vert.
What is the background music you are using?
2:46 Shift + alt and click this ring... BUT why I can't click anything after I press shirt+alt.... How to select second ring ?
The bevel modifier had no effect on my model. I'm sad.
As a 12 year long Blender user, I do not find Blender (or any subsurface modeler) a great choice for hard surface products. Tools like Fusion 360, Tinker Cad an the awesome SolidWorks are far more suited for that. And you can import them in Blender for texturing.
great tutorial, but those beats and the FIFA goal cheers induce headaches, must be me ive gone soft, old man ears
I'm new to Blender, I need to model a letterbox with precise measurement but I don't know where and how please help I'm so lost
there should be a third video titled "5 even more things you can do with Blender!". That way, there's now 15 total different ways to make anything in blender :)
wy not have "to sphere" create perfect circle?
Looptools
I wonder what link he was talking about in the thumbnail
Hello, The bevel modifier does not work with me... Help !
If I use the Loop Tool to make the circle, then the Bevel Modifier works... Strange. Any idea ? I use Blender 2.92
what is the name of background music
Loving the tutorials, but for 10+ minute videos, the background siren has to go at least during the modeling.
