I always silicone my overflow connections, as they can come loose over time, no matter how tight they are initially. Good video, lad! I know McAlpine says it’s not necessary, but I do it for the reason mentioned above.
This is exactly why we ALWAYS PAY A PLUMBER. It can take time to find a good one though. We have an excellent one now. He has a young apprentice too. We always treat our trades well and pay the bill promptly. Our old house always needs attention, usually water is at the root of our maintenance issues. We also have an excellent general maintenance and painter guy. He always has a waiting list but he is worth waiting for.
When he dropped his tool in the can with the blue water... I really felt that LOL. I would not have been able to keep my calm like he did when that happened haha.
I always use a wet and dry vac to get the excess water out of the cistern it makes for a lot cleaner jobs, good for getting the last bit of water out of the pan if you have to take that out as well, i hate those 1/2 inch connectors they a terrible to connect onto valve with a plastic thread , i always use brass thread if possible, the fibre washers always seem to fit loosey , i've found some with a rubber rather than a fibre washer and never have any problems
Nice work, its interesting to watch as a plumber from new Zealand.. the boiler units look complex. we only use hot water cylinders and gas califonts over here.
Fair play for recommending the client either fit the bath panel or find a handyman to fit it rather than charge the client more money than they need pay out! Many would just fit and charge an unnecessary rate for the job 👍
Thanks mate, same when someone calls me up to re seal a bath, I know a local handy man does a great job and less than me so happy to pass the work on 👍
Have you seen the Fluidmaster Flush and Sparkle kits? It's an attempt in the cistern that only adds clearer to the flush, I think I haven't had a chance to fit 1 yet. Looks interesting, think it's an American thing.
We need chest cams on care staff who work with children and adults with special needs! As a mum to my awesome autistic son I’m very lucky with the guys who support him but you read so many horror stories about care staff who abused people and get away with it! Trust is a rare thing today as well as a lack of common sense! This is a great video! Very informative!
Just thought I would add recently had water inspection in retirement home had to fit air gap bottom fill valve . or double check valve on cold feed to cistern inspector pointed out she was called to property where woman complained of blue water coming out of taps problem was tracked back to wc cistern with blue loo in it what do you think
Rubbing Alcohol (70%) is a good way to remove the blue stains from your hands from the toilet tablet. Another good way is distilled vinegar, but you're going to smell like vinegar for a while.
I was going to say wear gloves lol then you beat me to it lol, but a mask mmmm I don’t know if it calls for a mask, but clean clothes and really good arm and hand washing is a must 😊
I've got a tip for you, next time you get those fittings with the two notches, use a 2p coin ;) edit : or a 50p, obviously you charge more than me 🤣 Just think , while on your family break, of all those heating systems that refuse to start up in October🙂
I hate the blue loo toilet block. I had a lady customer that used so many that it was 4 inches deep in places. when I removed the fill valve it avalanched out through the hole
I always wondered if plumbers hated those blue things. Well, on the plus side, you’re all dressed up and ready for an appearance on an Olympic catwalk, now!
The problem if the toilet it’s feed from the mains water that’s a classed as fluid category 5 because water is filled from the bottom of that valve and when it shuts it has a back pressure slightly which pushes water back into mains and gets contaminated, hopefully you enjoying brushing your tooth and rinse your mouth with it 😅, because is not a part 2 ball cock filling valve , if it’s feed from gravity system that’s fine .
I see those cistern blocks as a danger, just imagine an inquisitive child who puts their hand in the toilet and then in their mouth, toilet water might not be the cleanest thing in the world but it should be somewhat safe if ingested. And just an FYI if you are cleaning a toilet bleach does hardly anything in a toilet and washes away really quickly, and it certinaly won't remove any limescale. Actual toilet cleaner is a completely different product and actually does something. Also never use toilet cleaner and bleach down a toilet, it will liberate chlorine gas and is potentialy deadly.
You're ex-BG, gloves, mask & other ppe should be ingrained into your soul 😆 yeah, chest cam is a winner mate 👍 thanks for the vid....i did really feel for you when your adjustable fell into the blue stuff 😢
If have to change a syphon on a toilet and there is blue blocks in there, I tell the customer they rot the plastic diaphragm in the syphon, they believe me , I say I will be back in 12 months redoing it, no blue blocks anymore
Ever thought of diversifying? Oh, I dunno. Maybe, Le Cirque du Soleil? Contortionists are in short supply. If customer accidentally stands on that pop up plug, whilst showering, you know that it'll damage the pop up lever arm mechanism. I'm getting tired or telling people, I told you so!
That's a deep trap. Would have been easier to swap out with a shallow trap. I follow your channel because I like your attitude. Can't stand the "I've been doing this for 27 years and never had a problem with silicone" attitude. I don't think that was a DIY install, just a bad plumber install.
Are you a plumber or a heating engineer ? If you’re a plumber then you shouldn’t be touching electrics unless you are suitably trained to the required NVQ standards. I’ve seen plumbers f””k electrics up and cost the home owner thousands.
Definitely not a plumber who fitted that bath,no need for all that silicone on the waste fitting and especially siliconing that bath panel, where was the framing.🥴🤔

Good shout mate. How often do they need to come off so permanent fix won’t hurt 👍👍

I was ready to walk out 😂👍
I hate bloo-loo too, nothing beats bleach and a loo brush after every use, clean loo, clean brush.
Chest cam worked great mate 👍
Thanks mate 🙌👍
Chest cam is great Luke. Thank you.
Great to hear you're necking off a bit to enjoy the summer. Good man.
Enjoy Luke.
Thanks mate much appreciated 👍
I agree with everyone else. Great POV camera.
Thanks mate 👍
Chest cam . Great addition 👊🏻
Thanks mate…stay tuned for the next one 🙌👍
New cam looks more natural, not one-handed, great video as usual. Keep up the good work.

Boilers not that bad once you get used to them, most work on same principle and even share same parts 👍

Top job Luke. Some tricky n sticky ones but you donned it as usual buddy❤
Thanks mate 👍
You need a really big flat head to do that screw, but if you have a fifty pence piece it fits perfectly, that is what I have used before.
50p for the win 🙌
Plus the blue blocks void the warranty on flush/inlet valves
Didn’t know that 👍
Cam worked great and obvs better for you ..😊
Thanks mate 👍👍
Another good video! Smurf 😅 Love the chest cam.

Will be a bottom fill fill valve fitted so chance of water contamination, always go for WRAS approved 👍

Definitely got to wear my gloves more 😅
If there’s silicone there TJ F plumber has been at it before 😂😂😂
I was literally ducking and tilting my head on parts of that video!
😂😂👍
I hate the blue blocks . Great video. Cheers Luke
Thanks mate 👍
They Mcalpine wastes normally come with a plastic tool to tighten the nuts.
Do they? Never saw it

Thanks for tips mate…I’m going on holiday soon so all I’m going to be thinking of is…winter is coming 😅🤯
What is the make of those scrappers please
Nerrad 👍
I was surprised there wasn't any water in the outlet pipe, when you removed it.
Did well changing the bath waste in a very tight space , if you don’t mind me asking what did you charge for that job 👍😁
Thanks mate 👍 £135
@@bluebulldog_uk£135!!

Much better with the chest cam, you're not dropping as much as when you tried doing it all one handed!
Thanks mate 👍👍
Just ordered one of those knives keep seeing them! Need a new 15 cutter whats everyone suggest? Been through them all, monument, nerrad, ox
My monument 15mm cutter is nearly 20 yrs old 🤣
@@zombienation68 what is the make of the knife can’t find it any were
@@zombienation68 Like Trigger with his brush. it's had 14 new wheels, 9 cases, but it's still the same cutter.

Pitbull are my favourite at moment…nerrad I wasn’t impressed with, monument I like as well though
Great video mate
Thanks mate 👍
Mate you need to get one of those plumb sharks for your keys for that bath waste, or a 10 or 50p will work aswell 😂😂
50p is good 👍 plumb sharks look ok but never got one
What chest cam was it
Only a cheap one from Amazon no brand I don’t think
I hate the blue loo toilet block. I had a lady customer that used so many that it was 4 inches deep in places. when I removed the fill valve it avalanched out through the hole

I'm blue, da ba dee da ba di 😂
Spanner bloody was…still is 😂😂
@bluebulldog_uk cracked me up mate, you was so close to effing
why do people silicone the waste? If it leaks it isn't fitted right, re fit FFS.
So the leak was coming from overflow the whole time
On the bath?
@@bluebulldog_uk yes

Where's your foot protection ?
The bath trap is touching the floor. When the bath is full, plus the weight of a human body it will leak eventually over time.
Very good point to be fair
Nice video I think it’s good to do chest cam on a few videos
Thanks mate 🙌👍
Could have been worse, pump valves could have been stuck open, like they do when I swap pumps 99% of the time 😂
Yeah to be fair I got lucky on this one most of time they pass 😅
What do you hate?
Why arent bath panels made so they can come off easily.
Gate valves...horrible things
I hate bath panels absolutel pain
Ive been using a chin cam for a while now as most of my audience likes to watch me do mediocre plumbing from the perspective of my chin
