You don't use a halter? I used a halter and two (2) leashes for Cedar. We'd drop and drag one, and rely mostly on the (very long) leash attached to the halter so we could pretend we just happened to be walking in the same direction and not really leashed together at all. The second leash was for grabbing if we had an encounter of the prey kind. ("No! Those ducks are NOT prey for you!" "They LOOK like prey... you sure about that?")
