    I never knew Horchata was rice based. I just thought it was cinnamon milk. So now I understand why Rice Dream makes a horchata variety.

    Greetings from Tucson, AZ! It's gonna be 107°F or more here for a bit so this is perfect for me and my friends, especially since they've never had horchata or aguas frescas. Aguas de pepino is also a favorite of mine but I didn't know about the melon one. We'll be making all three this summer for sure. And yes, as someone who cooks for a living, that Vitamix is a beast.

    I am glade you did not add sugar the Horchatch I see in the grocery store has so much sugar 24 gram and 20 gram of added sugar which is Sugar Alcohol beeing diabetic. I like to try making this.

    •  2 місяці тому +10

      The sweetened condensed milk is sugary, so you'll want to omit that and use your preferred substitute. 😊

    I use vinegar water but I add a small amount of baking soda before rinsing because it will bubble up and act as a gentle debriding agent.

    She didn’t "just throw" anything together. She used the traditional recipe for making horchata. I have an fyi for you. If you've had horchata anywhere, you've drank ground up raw rice with water and other ingredients added. BECAUSE THAT'S HOW IT'S MADE!! Before you put someone down, do a little research and know what you're talking about so you don't look like the a$$. Also, you could have just skipped commenting all together. People have enough sh$t to deal with without being beat down on UA-cam by strangers. I hope you have a wonderful day, and if you have your own channel, I pray nobody subjects you to unkind words.

    why rice?

    • @A.x3
      @A.x3 2 місяці тому +4

      Because blending it creates a "milky" texture- very similar to oat milk, soy milk, ect.
      Mexicans always use rice as it's traditional and culture.
