    The song is predicted to debut around 80 on the charts and while it may rise, that position speaks volumes. The gimmick considered art cleary isn't working.

      @@CrownedYetiI shouldn't have high expectations on his music because I was disappointed. It's so bland. When he teased that he's doing Christian music, I was hoping he would parody gospel music which would've worked better in his better (he's done rap country fusion before so it could work for this too). It's trying to be like CMBYN but it's an unseasoned mess.

    It's absolutely valid to explore provocative themes in art and music, pushing boundaries and challenging societal norms. However, the true essence of creativity lies in the ability to convey meaningful messages that resonate with a diverse audience. While it's understandable that artists like Lil Nas X may use religious imagery to make a statement, it's crucial to strike a balance between artistic expression and the potential impact on one's legacy. Crafting a lasting career involves transcending momentary controversies and ensuring that your work sparks thoughtful conversations about the art itself rather than solely focusing on its shock value. By fostering a dialogue around the creativity, depth, and emotion within the music, artists can build a legacy that stands the test of time and continues to captivate audiences across different perspectives.

    People lost their minds over Madonna, back in the day. She was really the first pop artist to combine religion and sexuality. Her content was very controversial, at the time. "Like a Prayer" made people clutch their pearls 😂 I love artists who push the envelope, but not for the sake of clout.

    I'm curious to see where he goes from here. I actually didn't mind the video, I agree that maybe certain things weren't needed, but this definitely feels like an intro into a new era more so than an actual comeback single. The shock value felt intentional, but the song and video felt like a setup for a new chapter to me, similar to Cobra. Unlike Bongos, which I felt was a real attempt at a comeback. This gives "I'm on my way" not "I'm here". If that makes sense.

    I interpreted this as a sign of Lil Nas X moving on to other things. I’m not sure if people choose to forget his portrayal as Noah at the end of the video, but the tale of Noah is about a man embracing his faith and connection with God to literally rise above the hatefulness of mankind, finding a new safe space amidst the storm. Even though the beginning felt more like him reminding the world about what he can do/has done, the ending felt strong and a smooth transition image wise for me, it felt purposeful, and even his ship kind of represents his future direction music wise. I personally just hope that he pulls through.

    This is his brand, but I considered it a rollout video. Obviously, this is lead in to the next single. Nothing too serious, but the next few songs (especially the ones on the album) will most likely delve deeper because that too is his brand. I guess we will see for sure. He is talented and has the potential to become one of the greats. However, we have to remember he is not obligated to. He has the freedom to make what he wants and we can either keep listening and watching or not. I think there is an unfair standard for queer artists, most aggressively against queer black/poc.

    I’m not trying to be funny, but have y’all actually ever been friends with actual devout Christians that chose it as adults? This comment section is so full of generalizations and a lot of statements that are false and I just get the impression that a lot of y’all are forming your opinions based on what you’ve heard and or traumatic experience from people that may have called themselves Christian because that’s what they grew up as but haven’t read a bible. Just like any generalization, I think it’s dangerous to put any one group into a box and make assumptions. If every black woman is not represented by Sexy Red and every gay person does not automatically become represented by Lil Nas X then is it really fair to base every Christian off of whatever the worst or most extreme stereotype of Christianity you’ve observed? There is nuance and context to everything and every people group. When did it become trendy to mock or persecute anyone is what I’m saying. Wouldn’t it be healthier for everyone to just deal with their own personal trauma instead of lashing out at entire populations. Not saying their perfect either, heck I’m pretty sure two of my pastors were in the news for questionable things as we speak and I know I’m not saint, but I also know that a lot of what y’all experienced is not what Christianity represents. I think people go through many different stages of healing and may make mistakes during some of those stages and it may hurt others but then hold those folks accountable on a personal level, why make people who didn’t harm you feel shame just because they follow core beliefs that you don’t like?
    I don’t mean any harm, for real but I am genuinely concerned about the way that people are so quick to jump on the pitchfork bandwagon. Yes, I understand the irony of referencing pitchforks but I’m sure we all know at least 1 person who does not line up with the assumed character that is often portrayed about anyone. There are still good people. Good gay people, good straight people, good Christians good XYZ. Or rather I think there are a few bad people who do good things and many good people that do bad things. Nuance is all I’m sayin.

      Well they won’t do that because then they would have to admit this is a bias agaisnt Christians and Lil Nas X is wrong.
      It’s easier to justify his behavior of disrespecting others if you say Christians are horrible people. Please, also keep in mind a lot of people also assosciating Christianity with White Supremacy and Racism so that’s why they will also excuse this behavior from him.

    • @infinitecdc
      @infinitecdc 4 місяці тому +2

      That’s facts, I’m glad. I want to find more community my dang self. Like it’s good to have that with content creators if you can but to experience the love from a person face to face is something else. There’s been so many genuinely loving and selfless things done for me by Christians and so much kindness that I’ve experienced that you never hear about from folks. Like humor me on a scenario.
      Imagine you are an orphan and you are unfortunately placed in an environment with people who do not love you. They abuse you and they do not affirm you emotionally. You feel alone. One day, you get adopted by a person who radiates love. They teach you so many things to keep you safe and they’re always kind to the other kids in the community. You’re clothed, you’re fed and you are loved and welcome. You spend 10 years being sooo loved by this person and then one day the people who originally cared for you claimed you were stolen and they want you back at the price of blood. Your adopted parent goes out with friends and you don’t see them anymore. You later find them hanging on a crucifix. Turns out they turned them self in for you. You then find out that your caregiver was beaten, spit on, sexually assaulted, laughed at and displayed for everyone to see. No one defended your caregiver. Every one of those friends abandoned them, even though they loved the person also. So you guys gather in rememberance and try to remember the good things that you were taught. Then one day you turn on the TV and see that someone has a replica of the outfit that your caregiver was murdered in and is making fun. This person is calling other over to laugh and to your dismay, other people are defending this action… I think that the reason why so many people can take stances like what people like Nas X is doing is because it was never real to them. Maybe consider to the people who really are lovers of Jesus, people who are called Christians (not the people who call themselves Christians), this is real and it hurts. Jesus loves you guys. That’s why I’m saying, the people who feel attacked by Christians, were those people even Christian’s and were you really being attacked when you look at it? Because things like what is happening actually is a spiritual warfare level of attack.

    If Lil Nas X wants to make his mark steadily with similar and familiar images throughout his work, that's good. it's leaving a mark, it's got people talking which is what most artists strive for. I just hope the stage presence and the growth when it comes to the live performances has come up a smidge. I'm curiouus and intrigued about the new project and the direction he is going next. I always keep in mind that he's a black queer artist in the mainstream and unapologetic about it.

    I think from both ends religious and gay people have backgrounds of trauma. And it makes sense why someone might be mad at religions and being gay cause they don’t always treat them too kindly. But I’m gay and I see it from religious people they see it as them being threatened as well because for some of them they view it as a threat to their religion and children. Even while rationally it isn’t.

    I honestly had the same thought after listening to the song and then seeing the music video where I loved the visuals more than the actual song. like very safe for a Lil Nas song but still really good and the visuals imo EAT. like I love how it seems like he's sorta connecting the MONTERO era and this new era. I feel like if he was gonna go this route tho, he should've either leaned off the religious implications OR gone full force. like give us a black choir singing in the background, have Sunday brunch with the Taylor and Barack impersonators, maybe even choose a different religious figure, idk just sumn like that. I still think it's pretty good tho.

Why not tap into all religions? Even with his background in Christianity.. that alone shows it’s either targeted or personal ♥️ he’s so talented.
