Great job! I was a Realtor in MN and then TX for 25+ years. Loved every minute of it. Both areas were resort areas. In MN I was about 3 hrs north of Mpls in lake country selling lake homes and cabins and then in TX I sold on South Padre Island…beachfront condos and homes.
After 32 years in the area, the one thing that I am not a fan of is the wind. You can get tired of the constant, especially in the Winter months when you have to be outdoors for work or errands.
It definitively depends on where you live. Some places in Tehachapi get hit harder with wind. I’ve lived in some windy cities, so it doesn’t phase me, but there are definitely some weeks each year that the wind can be exhausting!
I've lived with a friend out there for a few months, also visited, rented a hotel room at at a few of the restaurants on Tahachipi Blvd., been in the more rural area's, it snowed pretty good there in 2020, it was quite cold at that time, I like Tahachipi, it's quiet out there for the most part, it's like being back on time.
Yes, it is great for retired people, young families, and remote workers like myself! Many people know about the Tehachapi Loop, and there is a lot of great content about it online. I'm just trying to share a little about life here (outside of the fun train activity). Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment!
Thank you for the video and information. I was trying to help my mom with a broken cabinet and I was looking for hinges and somehow your video popped up. We have cousins who live in Bakersfield and are planning on building a home and to retire in Tehachapi. They are going to build a home or may have started. I live in Seal Beach, CA next to Long Beach and I think of the prison because I had friends that would volunteer there but didnt know much about the city so thank you. I am my mothers caretaker and I am stuck here with her because she has dementia, but I was starting to think of where I want to retire or live many years ago because I love nature but it is an all day event to try and get to a hiking spot that isnt super crowded but 17 years ago those spots were not packed. My other cousin lives in Grants Pass Oregon and I love it there and have spent a lot of time there. I am 56 now and I am tired of all the people. I have done it all and we have a pretty beach here but it is crowded and dirty. I never knew your city had 4 seasons! Thanks
Yes, I grew tired of the crowds myself in beach areas and cities, so I'm loving the peaceful, quiet life in Tehachapi. I think this is a wonderful place for many people! Definitely feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions or if you decide to retire here in the future. Thanks for watching and leaving a thoughtful comment!
Well, I lived in Tehachapi for 2 years when I worked at Edwards Air Force Base. The winds and occasional snow storms have always been a part of living there. But it is the lack some social amenities and the Railroad trains blowing their whistles in the middle of the night that can get a little tiring.
Thanks for sharing! I never hear the trains unless I’m in the city of Tehachapi. More than half of the people living in the Greater Tehachapi area don’t actually live in the city, so many of us don’t hear the trains at home. It’s a small town, so it definitely lacks some stores/amenities/things to do, but it’s not far to bigger cities for things we don’t have. I often go to Bakersfield, the AV and LA for social stuff and the stores that we don’t have here. I’d be happy to share lots of local social things going on if you ever move back to the area.
@@courtneychalupahomes Okay. I lived on Mills Road right across from the Home Depot, which was just being built when I moved there. So I was next to the train tracks. The whistle was always used because of the Railroad regulations. But there was a good urban legend surrounding the blowing of it in the middle of the night. As told, one of the Engineers had a bad divorce and his wife was still living in town. So in order to get even with her, he and his buddies would purposely blow their whistles at 3:00 in the morning just to annoy her.
We’re definitely planning to move here in the near future! We’re in Yucaipa and absolutely love it BUT, we really need more space. Tehachapi looks very similar! We’ll be contacting you☺️
Great video, thank you. My husband and I visited Tehachapi today. We will be looking to purchase our retirement home in summer of 2026 and will be reaching out to you close to that time.
I would highly recommend contacting a local Tehachapi Realtor (me or someone else). We can help connect you with a local lender whi can help get you pre-approved for a loan so you know what price point you can look for.

Sounds like you've lived in some fun places! Thanks for sharing and for watching this video :)

Sounds good as a retiree, Tehachapi is also famous for Railfanning with amazing video scenery.

I love in Georgia, but I grew up in Tehachapi all my life.
I’m looking to eventually move here from Bakersfield and this will be my first time trying to buy a home and idk where to start.

Great Video thinking of buying our first home there. If things work out 😊
Awesome!
I mean ate at a few restaurants's there, there's also a very good Mexican restaurant on Tahachipi blvd.
thank you for sharing this information to us 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I live here and got this in my recommendations 😂
Awesome! Hope you are enjoying the summer!
Tehachapi is great. Still too close to Barstow tho. And that is a total deal breaker.
Barstow is 2 hours away, so that isn’t close to me.
Soooo, move to Tehachapi? 😂
lol, well, I moved here and I have zero regrets 😉
You look exactly like another youtuber who camps in her Jeep compass with her dog.
Same person, different channel.
