I was studying a chapter of rajasthan vidhansabha and that time my father came and told me about the king of jodhpur-maharaja hanwant singh,like how he won with so much votes and then wanted to go out and celebrate but the plane he was flying gone crashed, immediately he told there's a movie named as zubaida too. It suddenly reminded me one of the instagram reel with that last helicopter scene. Was so excited to watch this. This movie is created so beautifully. In the time of early 20's,the dialogues were ahead of it's time. Amrish puri as usually nailed it.last but not the least that kho gaye song as backgorund makes us emotional.
When i saw the movie 1st time i really likes it but when I studied Rajasthan gk then I realised that this is the true story of jodhpur maharaja hanvanat singh ... And her 2nd wife zubaida which was not actually accepted as wife bcz of rajsthani culture and tradition... But maharraja loves her lot .❤

What a movie! Graceful performance of Karishma Kapoor. I don't judge her at all. Throughout her life, she's been controlled by her father. And when she met Victor, she saw a glimpse of freedom in him. But unfortunately, that ray of freedom was short-lived. Her life was very tough. So was Rekha's life. Very nice movie.
It was all fault of Victor and equally Rose. Victor could've told zubaidaa about his intentions & Rose aunty was knowing everything still she pushed Zubaidaa in that situation of loneliness and a shining toy doll life. Victor knows that he will never give equal respect to her like his wife. Still he kept her in darkness. Zubaidaa would've lived happily with her son rather than without him. 😢

watched this movie long time ago and now watched it again in 2024. I was a little apprehensive since early 2000s movies don't match my current sensibilities. But i was so pleasantly surprised by this It still holds up. I cannot believe how many times i teared up

An individual's parenting & nurturing style defines a lot about his/her future. Zubeida is just hungry for everlasting love & attention. She doesn't want to live a life like her mother. But along with love, care & attention, she also wishes to have her own control over her life. Yeah, she is demanding, adamant & a love seeker but she has a soft side too with a blend of outspoken & a carefree persona. Human psychology is very complex and gets affected with outside factors, you can't term every behaviour "toxic".

The Film was written by ZUibeda' s not hurting the feelings of him, there are four villains in this story one (the cruel one) is The Father of Zubeida. the second is Rose the definition of whose freedom depends on the time of her good looks, she purposefully ruined the innocent child Called Zuibeida while she knows perfectly how her father was, the third is the ignorant mother who was not able to maker her daughter understand, and the ultimate one was ZUbeida herself, she wanted to be free but without independent, she left the child which was her responsibility, and when she is married in to a royal family she needs to understand that those kind of families are way different than common families.
Since long time I wanted to see this movie and finally i completed watching this movie,what a dynamic movie this is. A perfect blend of all the emotions a women carries in the role of zubi's mother, zubi, mandy, and rose. Just loved this movie❤and the last scene i guess brought tears for everyone watching this

It happens sometimes that a song makes its place in your mind early in the morning and remains whole day. Once a song from zubaida came in my mind. I used to think to watch the movie. I finally watched it today. Mix of happiness, sadness, love, affection ..
Damn the ending scene of this movie always makes me cry. Seeing Faiyazi watch her daughter’s dance onscreen for the first time, seeing her daughter’s smile again likely after decades, truly seeing her in her element, and quietly realizing that it’s all gone…it just crushes me every time. I think this is a film about how little the women in that society could really pursue their own happiness, even when they had the means to make changes. Faiyazi had to put up with a cheating asswipe of a husband to get some modicum of a normal life, Rose got to be independent/have fun but ended up alone, Mandira Devi got respect but at the cost of her freedom and ability to choose her life partner or expect his loyalty. Zubeidaa the titular character was the only woman who tried to change her life circumstances multiple times, given the few resources she had. She tried to become an actress and was forced to stop, she was forced to end her education to marry a stranger, then forced to divorce him after having his kid, all for her father’s ego. After being treated like some kind of toy her whole life by her dad, she made a choice that appeared to allow her the most freedom and joy within the constraints given to her as an Indian woman in the ‘50s, and even that failed her. This film will always leave a deep impression on me.

I felt Zubaida was going through depression. And she was insecure, lonely and felt unimp as she was just a lover to her husband. Wo unki life me koi help ya imp role provide ni kr pa rhi thi as that first rani. Most probably she was the reason of that plane crash. May be she had madeup her mind ki sath me sucide kr lenge. Khi kl ko unke 2nd husband ne b unko talaq de diya to unka koi future ni h. She was already traumatize by her past . Pehle controling father than husband se talaq ab dusri bar phir se wo sb unko ni sehna pade so she did that just to prevent all that from happening with her Again. It was a terrible life she gone through. If she had a career to ye sb ni hota.

Yeah, she is demanding, adamant & a love seeker but she has a soft side too with a blend of outspoken & a carefree persona. Human psychology is very complex and gets affected with outside factors, you can't term every behaviour "toxic".

She still praised Mandy at times for her calibre. And that's called respecting oneself & taking stand for oneself when she decided to leave her dominant father, submissive mother. She wanted to take her child with her but didn't as her mother didn't let her do so. Through this scene, it has also been conveyed that it's not just a father who frees himself from his duties towards his child but sometimes a mother should have done so whether intentionally or not.

The truth is patriarchy puts these two women (those days polygamy was allowed among Hindus) against each other, when actually their Husband was the culprit. He was so selfish. The Film was written by ZUibeda' s not hurting the feelings of him, there are four villains in this story one (the cruel one) is The Father of Zubeida. the second is Rose the definition of whose freedom depends on the time of her good looks, she purposefully ruined the innocent child Called Zuibeida while she knows perfectly how her father was, the third is the ignorant mother who was not able to maker her daughter understand, and the ultimate one was ZUbeida herself, she wanted to be free but without independent, she left the child which was her responsibility, and when she is married in to a royal family she needs to understand that those kind of families are way different than common families.
Since long time I wanted to see this movie and finally i completed watching this movie,what a dynamic movie this is. A perfect blend of all the emotions a women carries in the role of zubi's mother, zubi, mandy, and rose. Just loved this movie❤and the last scene i guess brought tears for everyone watching this

It happens sometimes that a song makes its place in your mind early in the morning and remains whole day. Once a song from zubaida came in my mind. I used to think to watch the movie. I finally watched it today. Mix of happiness, sadness, love, affection ..
Damn the ending scene of this movie always makes me cry. Seeing Faiyazi watch her daughter’s dance onscreen for the first time, seeing her daughter’s smile again likely after decades, truly seeing her in her element, and quietly realizing that it’s all gone…it just crushes me every time.
I think this is a film about how little the women in that society could really pursue their own happiness, even when they had the means to make changes.
Faiyazi had to put up with a cheating asswipe of a husband to get some modicum of a normal life, Rose got to be independent/have fun but ended up alone, Mandira Devi got respect but at the cost of her freedom and ability to choose her life partner or expect his loyalty.
Zubeidaa the titular character was the only woman who tried to change her life circumstances multiple times, given the few resources she had. She tried to become an actress and was forced to stop, she was forced to end her education to marry a stranger, then forced to divorce him after having his kid, all for her father’s ego. After being treated like some kind of toy her whole life by her dad, she made a choice that appeared to allow her the most freedom and joy within the constraints given to her as an Indian woman in the ‘50s, and even that failed her.
This film will always leave a deep impression on me.

And she was insecure, lonely and felt unimp as she was just a lover to her husband. Wo unki life me koi help ya imp role provide ni kr pa rhi thi as that first rani.

Khi kl ko unke 2nd husband ne b unko talaq de diya to unka koi future ni h. She was already traumatize by her past . Pehle controling father than husband se talaq ab dusri bar phir se wo sb unko ni sehna pade so she did that just to prevent all that from happening with her Again.
