'You and I' was the gold of low's show off of her voice
Love this rehearsal, she’s not only navigating her own voice so well and performing outstandingly she’s making sure the backing vocals are right too
Even as a lifelong Mariah fan (I remember the very fist time I heard Vision of Love come on the radio and was completely blown away to the point that I could not even close my mouth from the shock when it was over), you forget how absolutely incredible she was in her prime. Like you hear other amazing singers over the years but then you go back to Mariah in her prime and it's like OMG she truly is just utterly and incomparably spectacular.
I could've written this comment word for word. I remember hearing her sing VOL as a teenager (I forget the performance, it was one of those classics where she's in a black dress with that glorious lion's mane hair) and by the end of the performance, I was 100% converted into a lifelong fan. Her singing made me think something I have never thought before or since about a singer: This voice is a gift from God.
I remember as well and my mouth was also hanging open. No one could touch her. And all before auto tune.

I remember watching the SNL performance of this when it aired. My wife (fiance at the time) watched it in my parent's basement and we both loved it. I went out and bought the cassette the very next day. I can't believe that the rehearsal version is even better. Just wow.

Very true Mariah can go very low for a female. She also supports her lows very well, and even supports all the way down to C3, she can go lower than a C3 but it's not supported or resonated.

I enjoyed your videos very much and would be happy if you would comment the singing of Angelina Jordan. She started her career very early and took part in "America's Got Talent - The Champions" in 2019/2020, at the age of 13. I recommend her version of "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Oh man that’s a tough question! I would say she is naturally a mezzo soprano or a soprano. Aka that’s where her voice feels most comfortable. BUT I think she can sing all the parts 😂
Houston Martinez she’s a light lyric soprano with a huge range, that’s why she has good low notes too
@@houstonmartinez9104 Listen to her voice in 1994 and up. You can definitely tell and hear the girley and lightness in her tone. And her voice starts to get brighter at B4 and above.
@@houstonmartinez9104 I don't think so. Her tone gets brighter the higher she goes. Mariah (to this day) has a really girley/bright tone the higher she goes. The only years she didn't was 90-92 and that was because of placement and technique issues.
Houston Martinez Mariah doesn’t have the same weight in her voice a mezzo has and her tone is naturally bright
