Hi guys, glad you visiting all the major cities in South Africa. Please stop at the Townships as well, the vibes are awesome too, local cuisine, music and dance. Enjoy and be safe.
The Cape Malays are a Muslim sub-group of the coloured people. Actually their ancestors came mainly from Indonesia; mostly from Java. They were dubbed "Malay" because way back then the peoples from that region spoke a fusion dialect called "Malay" similar to what the Jews of Europe did when they created Yiddish as a lingua franca for transnational communication.
Ypu guys were so afraid of coming into South Africa I wanted to see how your perceptions would change....wow its taking a while....thought as ppl from the third world ypu would adapt quicker! By the way as a South African I am afraid to travel India! It has more to do with your road safety and my sensitive stomach!!!
Yeah it is definitely taking a while. I also think that they are believing the media too much, or whatever other people told them. We definitely have problems, we don't deny that, but if you are sensible, you will be fine.
Nearly everyone who we met between Nairobi and Cape Town had something to warn about the high crime rate in ZA - thanks to the media and some, their personal experiences. They all spoke of guns, knives and violence targeting pretty much anyone on any street in the city centre and certain neighbourhoods. Of course, it does not mean that they / we believe the country is dangerous in entirety! The repeated warnings probably made us feel very anxious about entering ZA. We understood a lot better once we came here that it was not the case. There is a lot more spoken about ZA, than there probably is - atleast, we're grateful to have not encountered bad as we explored the country! And for the most part, South Africans have been very kind and protective of us on our journey. Coming from India, particularly the south, we are generally not exposed to violent crimes on ordinary streets; gun wielding, knives etc., are uncommon. Even snatching is not as common as we were told would happen here. So you can see why we were scared. I guess in trying to be too cautious, we may have come off as insecure and mis-understanding. While you are probably referencing some tiktok videos about crazy drivers and unhygenic food in India, the image is very similar to what ZA has about safety. Yes there are some bad apples, but they don't represent the whole orchard. India is beautiful. South Africa is beautiful. We love our days exploring your country. We don't have a negative perception of South Africa - thanks to the kindness of people we have met here, it has definitely changed. I hope you get to see that in the vlogs ahead.
Are Rodney and Donald brothers? They look the same. 😂😂😂 On my first trip, I stayed at Long Street Backpackers. Mama Africa has been there for more then 20yrs. There was a sandwhich shop called Mr. Pick wicks on Long Street which was good but I see it's closed down. CBD is dodgy at night. Love the Waterfront.
Thank you Rodney for hosting our friends. Your hospitality is admirable. Stay blessed…
Rodney has been very kind!
I really like your thumbnails lately, good job!
Thank you! We're trying!
