- From my old VHS recording of Top Gear on 14th October 1999. Poor quality as it has been through multiple recoding but it's not available anywhere else.

I live in Ireland and a guy on my estate has one of these , 00 - D - Reg Plate , always liked the car growing up ; if I remember correctly he got it around 03 .
When 'Wheel of fortune' was on here in Australia, these cars were the top prize around 2000/2001

Despite input from Lotus the Proton GTI was never popular here in the UK; Protons were seen as a 'budget' car...
However in its home country of Malaysia it was said to be a source of national pride...
Malaysia was said to be an emerging economy in the 1980s like Vietnam is today...

Can you tell me a little about them I’m from Canada but I live in America but I drive a 1992 eagle talon tsi awd it’s basically the same car as the Plymouth laser rs turbo awd and Mitsubishi eclipse gsx. But I’m very curious about what these vehicle have in common with the whole lineup do they use Mitsubishi engine? Particularly 420a’s to 4g63’s and 4g63t?
It’s like a Malaysian evo? Kind of like what the Mitsubishi eclipse Plymouth laser and eagle talon was to Canadians and Americans
@@YUM_DustDSM4G63 If you're talking about the car on the video, yes Proton do actually use 4G63 (just without the turbo and HP decreased) on their older car particularly Perdana. Most people who love Proton here in Malaysia would rather swap for 4G63 or 93 and sell the 4G15 instead(?) due to how popular the engine is. 4G93 were also used in Proton Limited Edition car in the past which is very cool. Oh yeah tuner at here also find a way to even tune 4G15 engine too and its crazy to think it can go like 400-500HP.
Mind you too that Proton do rebadged old Mitsubishi's like Lancer Fiore, normal Lancer and Mirage. But now they're hot rubbish who followed a Chinese design but I don't really care much.

No, it's the old Top Gear which ended in 2001. Tiff/Vicki and the team that made old Top Gear moved to a different channel in 2002 to make Fifth Gear.

The satria GTi is quite similar to the CC GSR Lancer, and I find it quite comfortable, I even have GTi seats in my GSR
Yup.. They using Recaro enjoy seats for the best comfort for your back and butt. Plus it has a 4 inline 4g93 n/a 1.8cc. Or you can just put an evo engine with 4wd.
Go for the proton persona 1.6 campro.
+mohd tarmizi Roslan basic campro engine is shitty. not sure about the cps and cfe version though
walter alborovi it suits both city and long drive. Engine is a Mitsubishi 4G92 and chasis is a Mitsubishi Colt. Proton had partnership with Mitsubishi to developt most of Proton cars back then. Then came the Lotus specific on handlings/suspensions.
