@@RussCR5187 I think just by what you define practical as not being poetic, one cannot mean that facing the truth doesn't require a keen insight as well as intellect. If you want practical solution, then, your practical approach should never be void of human compassion or respect. Those virtues are quite poetic and should be written in verse, but, if we do such things for the people we are ridiculed by others. Without poetry you cannot touch the humanity of people because poetry is like a flower, it takes time, effort, and love. Unlike the instant gratification of hitting a problem head-on just to solve it, every racial issue cannot be solved through a practical approach there is a deeper problem when it comes to human beings and their interaction, and interaction needs reform. One needs to look at poets, authors, and orators to know how to strengthen the collective consciousness as well teach black people to want a better life for themselves as individuals.

Professor West, for years have I seen you present your erudition upon the critical issues that for generations have confronted us in the United States of America and the world. I have come to respect and admire you for your incisive, unrelenting candour and your abiding kindness.
I bring to you this following, because I can find little else I can reach (and frankly, I can trust). I do so here, for my chief means to communicate with the wider world is through UA-cam; and this through typing with just one finger on a ludicrously small keyboard, itself on a little screen.
On the issues of race, racism, etc., I have so much to say--many just ques- tions, in an effort to understand, though I have a number of observa- tions, primarily of what most informal- ly call "white people"--and so much to learn.
I shall begin with the most pressing of late. What is "woke"? My rudimen- tary assessment is that it is an effort of African Americans 1) truly to learn of their circumstances, 2) to determ- ine their way out, and to rise above, and 3) to end racism, toward making a United States of America that truly is free and equal.
