Rejecting the corporate duopoly and its two wings-a neofascist Republican party, and the neoliberal Democrats-West calls for a multiracial alliance of poor and working people against militarism, corporatism, racism, and all other forms of bigotry and oppression.

We meet on the street a few times a month, the most honest down to earth human. Great man and candidate.
I shared a ride to Laguardia airport with him, very insightful individual.
Cornell West is a spoiler candidate at this point, by running 3rd party he's guaranteed a loss for himself and potentially opened up spoiling the black vote for Biden. It's an absolute joke, also his foreign policy includes "Ending NATO". Okay, so he's essentially a pro-russian spoiler candidate. Got it.. What an unbelievably naive and idiotic idea. Yeah lets end the greatest defense alliance the world has ever seen for no reason at all. fuckn awesome. Also, the US can't unilaterally "END NATO" anyway. Also, furthermore, anyone who doesn't understand this most likely hasn't spent more than a few hours paying attention to what's going on in Ukraine. It's an entirely naive idea and it genuinely pisses me off that he's running and progressives are supporting him. This is how we end up with another 4 years of Trump, and if you don't think Trump or republicans are a existential risk to the country you need to have your head examined.

The cut in food stamps is really hurting me. If I didn't have family to help me out, I'd have to make an ugly choice between housing or hunger. I feel lucky at the same time that I feel guilt twisting in my guts for the less fortunate.

There actually won’t be debates. The establishment is fully behind Biden and it’ll be him or someone like Newsom, those are the options you’ll have. Personally, if it’s between biden and trump I’ll vote for trump, not that it matters from NY and with the Electoral college existing, but Biden or Newsom or Harris will walk us into WW3 and I wont accept that.

If you're a Cornell West supporter but don't vote for him because "He can't win" then any third party candidate can never win if you don't vote . Every vote matters. Any destination begins with one step.
That's why in maine we have ranked choice voting that allows us to vote for a 3rd party candidate without feeling like we're wasting our vote. If the candidate doesn't get enough votes to really put them in the running your vote defaults to your second choice.

Voting for a third party candidate can get the party to a 5%+ share of the national vote, which opens up guaranteed space on the debate stage the next cycle and millions of dollars in FEC funding. If you are voting in a state with a 99.9% chance of it being Red or being Blue, then you are throwing away your vote by NOT voting third party.
He is the only reason I'm voting.
I’ve only been on this planet for 26 years but every presidential vote I’ve ever cast has been done begrudgingly and as a moral compromise. Dr. West is the first candidate I can wholeheartedly put myself behind, both as an individual and as an American.

I couldn't agree more with your view on Dr. Cornel West, my vote is already set up and I won't give a second thought to stand by him. The problem : The powerful mainstream media will not waste a single second to start demonizing Dr. Cornel West as soon as he gives some signs of posing a barrier for the two traditional parties to keep spreading their nasty sickening rethoric that everyone is already familiar with. I think the only president I would've have voted for shamelessly if I was old enough to it would have been Obama. People can say what they want about him, but culturally so many massive, important changes happened. I was a big Supporter of Andrew Yang last time, but the DNC kept burying him every chance they had.
I have voted for 50 years, always 3rd party. I encourage you to follow your instincts about voting. People will disparage you and blame you when there are problems but voting should not be a moral compromise. Well-said.

If Cornel west is half as good a politician as he is an orator, then the USA would turn on a dime towards Justice during his presidency. But rationally, my best hope is that his spoken poetry and his jazz riffs start to infiltrate the political conversation and stimulate the shrivelled moral roots of the "great experiment". Preach on brother Cornel! Few voices are as important , and yet as neglected as yours. A Love Supreme indeed.
Unfortunately being a good orator doesn't necessarily mean being a good president... See what Obama did (or didn't)... He might win a Nobel prize though, for some reason....
I fully agree and relate to your concerns. My hope is he can get high enough for enough people to listen up and he can encourage solidarity and unity for the working class. America is too divided and the working class is broken. He can unite this country without even winning. And if by some miracle he does win, great! It won't be easy for him tho. He will need help. And ppl will sabotage him.
But if he can disrupt this election and get people thinking and talking across the aisle then that's fantastic and that's enough for me to support him I want him to win. But I'm not naive. This isnt about actually winning. And he knows that.
There is so much more at stake than a mere election.
The facts are one of these old fucking boomers will win. Best case scenario they die and we end up with a slightly less incompetent Corporate Xer like DeSantis or the shill Kamala Harris. That's reality.

What the? Hedges has a new venue. He is one of the only few journalists I still respect. He helped to bring to light alot of the broken understandings I had about US politics.

This is the first one I got excited about since Bernie's 2016 run. I'm also glad Chris talked him into running for Green party. He's a message candidate but he's got a great one and it would be nice to have someone on the ballot that actually represents my views.
He will be a sell out just like Bernie and his followers did.
The Electoral College decides the "winner". Only Republicans and Democrats are part of the Electoral College. They are not obliged to vote in line with the popular vote. That said, if Cornel West could capture enough percentage to get on the debate stage, he would gain enough support to win the popular vote, putting the Electoral College on blast to prove that we live in a democracy. But, the duopoly learned from Ross Perot getting in the debates in the 90's, and were successful at making sure Ralph Nader and Jill Stein could not make it on the debate stage for the previous 24 years. Mainstream News media is the key to getting his message out there, and they will not give him a platform. It may take getting out in the streets to demand media coverage, and ultimately, debate stage.

Cornel West is an educated and conscientious man who sees the world rationally and with a consistent moral code. He has strong grassroots credibility. He’s bold yet diplomatic. Oh, to imagine a world in which the likes of Dr. Cornel West could become President of the United States. What a marvelous man!

Thank you for this. I would love for their to be a possibility in this country for ANY 3rd party candidate to rise. Reality is we live in a two party government that pretends to dislike each other but both share the common interest of PROFITS OVER PEOPLE.

I’m voting for and supporting Dr West for President because many of the things he care about and will fight for we share. We’ve heard it all before: “he don’t stand a chance” “you’re throwing away your vote” “a vote for a third party is a vote for Trump”(under the delusion that they would vote Biden if they didn’t vote third party). The Corporate Democratic Party’s lies and fake promises just won’t fly this time. Enough is enough. I went back and watched this with the legendary Professor Cornel West. I've always appreciated his articulate opposition to U.S. imperialism, the war on drugs and mass incarceration, and corporate power, as well as his general love and unity vibe.
