    When I saw Ube at an Asian Market not too far from me in Madison Heights, MI...I had to try it - see how it tasted! I steamed some one afternoon and found it to have a sweeter flavor than the orange ones that I grew up eating. Sadly, I HAVE BECOME ADDICTED...ADDICTED TO UBE - I CANNOT SEEM TO GET ENOUGH OF THIS PURPLE YAM!!! 😂😂😂🍴🍴🍴

    When I lived in Los Angeles, I discovered ube and omg, I would eat them every day! SO pretty, SO yummy, SO diverse! I wish I could find it more easily now that I live in Toronto.

    For about 3 years I've been growing these in my backyard out here in the southwest, totally by accident though. I threw the peels in the ground and they sprouted, then sprawled everywhere. They overwinter very well, thrive in the humid monsoon season with their beautiful vines, and in the Fall I get these massive clusters. They have since replaced mashed potatoes during Thanksgiving.

    In Ilocano it's also ubi. I hate when I'm at an American restaurant ordering ubi anything and the server says, "you mean ube?" No I meant what I said lol.

      Gean Vincent Almendras usually small businesses and not franchise restaurants. Like Americanized Asian fusion restaurants.

  • @kitchied
    @kitchied 5 років тому

    sorry but your ube doesn't look like ube. contrary to what you said, it's outer appearance does look closer to a taro root and NOT like a sweet potato,
