When I saw Ube at an Asian Market not too far from me in Madison Heights, MI...I had to try it - see how it tasted! I steamed some one afternoon and found it to have a sweeter flavor than the orange ones that I grew up eating. Sadly, I HAVE BECOME ADDICTED...ADDICTED TO UBE - I CANNOT SEEM TO GET ENOUGH OF THIS PURPLE YAM!!! 😂😂😂🍴🍴🍴
When I lived in Los Angeles, I discovered ube and omg, I would eat them every day! SO pretty, SO yummy, SO diverse! I wish I could find it more easily now that I live in Toronto.
Oh wow we call it "uhi" in the Solomon Islands and we grow that in big size gardens for that crop alone. Amazing!
Cool. So far away lol.
Thanks for the info. Now I'm hungry for some Uni.
I used to eat ube with sugar as a little child, when I was still in the Philippines. Wish purple yam grew in the US...
Really great communicator
I love ube and I used to plant these in my backyard and harvest it during december it time for the Christmas Season....😁😁
In the Torres strait island of far north Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 our lady's eat ube to have twin's, thanks for the rest of the info about ube great to hear 😀
For about 3 years I've been growing these in my backyard out here in the southwest, totally by accident though. I threw the peels in the ground and they sprouted, then sprawled everywhere. They overwinter very well, thrive in the humid monsoon season with their beautiful vines, and in the Fall I get these massive clusters. They have since replaced mashed potatoes during Thanksgiving.
Thank you
I grew up eating Negro Yam/Ufi which is similar but its white inside. There is another 1 thats’ named Kape’ that is lavender not purple inside. My Favorite Tho is still Cassava & Japanese Yam. Thanks for Sharing✨🌺✨

In Ilocano it's also ubi. I hate when I'm at an American restaurant ordering ubi anything and the server says, "you mean ube?" No I meant what I said lol.
What American restaurants serve Ube things on their menu? I’m legitimately curious
Gean Vincent Almendras usually small businesses and not franchise restaurants. Like Americanized Asian fusion restaurants.

All I know is ube in English is purple yam.
sorry but your ube doesn't look like ube. contrary to what you said, it's outer appearance does look closer to a taro root and NOT like a sweet potato,
You’re wrong.
common hahaha alam ng lahat yan
