I love how you walked us through and explained what you were doing. It would certainly help people, such as myself, who are interested it trying this out.
Well, THAT came out splendidly!!! Tom here; Gayle's husband. I have a lot of fun with resin . The maple top and finial totally made this!! Super elegant.
Nice job. I don't understand why people give a thumbs down. The way I look at it is, you took the time to post this so I can learn from what you are doing and I appreciate it. Thank you
The jar and lid are beautiful, but I don’t care for the finial. Just found your channel and I’ve watched it a lot today. Your voice narration is very calm and soothing.
Well Peggy, I have to admit that even though I don't care about epoxy turns, this is a really fantastic way to blend wood and epoxy. I've never seen anything as nice as this vase. Have a great week.
I watched your video last night Peggy on my Roku TV, unfortunately I can't post comments through the tv so here I am. Very nice work on the cedar shavings, everything can be repurposed I guess. Very nice.
Thanks for talking through your process and mentioning the tools you use. As a beginner turner, it's helpful since I don't know all the names and whatnot. Beautiful finished piece too. It makes me want to try resin projects.
Very happy to see this on my recommended videos! I am so pleased to see that woodturning is not an exclusively male club 😀 because I would love to try my hand at it someday!
@@PFWoodturning I just finished working with a small slab of ambrosia maple...several bowls and other vessels came of it. Some of the forstner bit shavings looked like striped ribbon. If only I had seen this video earlier, you might have had a box of maple "waste" taking a detour from my compost pile to your doorstep ;-) lol
Hi Peggy .. Just a tip.. I have two different types of lung dieseases and any type of cedar or redwood just creates breathing issues.. Even though I use great masks the filter all dust and chemicals the dust sort of clinks to my and shop.. So when I am not turning I get choked up. So as a warning to viewers. try to stay away from woods like this..There are other woods that are hard on our lungs.. I like you like to save shavings and use them to add color and keep the see thru in my bowls.. I also save the resin not used and rescue the left overs and cut strips for more accents in other bowls..Very nice work on this one too..☺️👍
Beautiful!! I love watching your videos. The narration throughout is very helpful for me to understand all that you're doing. I'm an artist but to me you're a true artist!! How you take pieces/logs of wood and make gorgeous works of art is unbelievable!!! Love your work!
Regarding your tip at 5:55... I remember years ago when there were a bunch of miners trapped and they had two teams drill bore holes down to reach them. One team used a diameter wide enough to rescue the miners directly while the other team first drilled a small diameter hole, maybe 1 foot or so. Once that bore was done, they then drilled a larger diameter bore on top of that. The 2nd team was the winning team, despite having to drill twice instead of once. I think the same concept applies with your bores here on the lathe.
Awesome project Peggy. Would make a nice pencil or utility holder without the lid. But it is even better with the lid. That finial looks great. Better go slow and safe instead of being sorry. Have you considered a core cutter in order to make more bowls or objects out of one piece like this? Please stay safe and take care.
I have done this myself, it did really well, I was really surprised, I will be doing another. I did not put any other timber in and it just worked. I did it because I had left over resin and thought it a good ides (one of my better ideas). I used a half inch swept back.
I've been watching you here and there for about a year. I have seen Ack's show up in most of the turners that I watch. I decided that I should get some and your 15% off was just the nudge that I needed. Thanks.
That came out nice I really like it a lot. Out of all the turning channels I am subscribed to, I look forward to your videos the most. Also I see you like playing with silly string.
Another excellent job. I love the color of the Cedar shavings in the resin. Adding the lid was cool. I see that your still rocking that wild hairdo 👍. Can’t wait to see what you make next.
Hello Peggy So good to see a really nice piece . Your last two items have been exceptional, sorry the Alzheimer's Disease has not let me do a lot and had to spend a long time looking at the pieces before I could comment with any clarity stay save peace out
Fantastic job. The way you can see the shavings is just amazing. It looks great with or without the lid. But since you made a lid it looks better with a lid. Have a wonderful weekend.
Great looking piece Peggy. Those shavings from the epoxy really make a mess. How do you care for your carbide cutters? Are you able to sharpen them? If you rotate them for a sharp edge, do you mark it any way so you know where it was at? Thanks.
I love how that came out. I always worry about CA glue on wood. Probably nothing wrong with it. Just my bias. How do you find it works? Does it ever fail on you? Keep the vids coming!
Thank you for sharing your art, very nice looking bowl. Great size for a lot of different things, keep up the good work. By the way ,it looks like your hands are healing well.
Very nice! Did any of the smell of the cedar survive the casting? I still have a few bags full and if it survived, I may try this. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks also for wearing a shirt honoring the Coast Guard. If you or your family have served, thanks for the service.
Jim
Thanks. My Dad, 30+ years.

Thanks you, Beverly! Welcome! ✌️

Thanks very much!!!! ✌️
Nice work. I like the way you narrate the video and explain the process. It's great to see a fellow female woodworker represent! Well done! 👍🏻
Awesome, thank you! What kind of woodworking do you do?
Awesome job Peggy. Resign sure does make a mess but it turns out great when a artist is doing the work. Bravo my friend.
Thanks so much 😊
Very beautiful Peggy, it was very nice to watch again, thank you. 🌹
Thanks so much 😊
Beautiful contrast of colour repeated from bottom to top. The resin highlights the colour of the wood shavings very well
Thank you so much 😀

Very nice Peggy and a great use of the shavings!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow that turned out nice Peggy, nothing wasted.
Exactly, no waste! 😎
That really is lovely. So pleased you were able to use the cedar shavings. Thanks for the videos.
Thanks for watching 😎
That is very cool. The wood choices do set the colors off nicely.
Thanks 👍
The double sided tape idea is genius!
Ha! Tip---only if you buy the right kind...some of them don't stick very well.
That’s pretty cool, Peggy!
Thanks, Rick!!
Sweet piece! Like the use of the cedar shavings.
Thank you very much!
I love it! Simple and elegant!!!
Very Nice Peggy!
Thanks!
Always a pleasure thanks for the links
You bet!
Wow. Great idea. Turned out beautifully!!!! Thank You

This came out so beautifully!!! Love how you repurposed the cedar shavings!
Thanks very much!! 😊
Nice turning and I really love the U.S. Coast Guard shirt

Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you do try it one day! Warning: it's addictive!
@@PFWoodturning She's right, it's addictive. It's a great hobby.
Just remember buying a wood lathe is just half of the expense.$$$
thanks for sharing, nice job, I've kept some Ebony shaving to put into a bowl rim... never throw anything away... cheers
Right on! Thanks for watching!
This just proves that it's always worth keeping great coloured shavings. Really nice piece. Keep safe and well.👍
Thanks 👍

@@PFWoodturning I do oil painting. Landscapes, still life, and some animals.
I know it's a late comment, but it looks great. AWESOME job
Thanks very much!
Very nice piece ….. really like the simple lid with the finial, nice touch 🤠
Thanks! 👍
Cedar shavings in resin? Yep. I'm here for that.
Cool, thanks!😊
Great work and yes I agree old clothes when using resin.
Yes! Thank you!
It would make a great candle too and when it burns down it would illuminate the chips. Looks great!!!
Great idea! 💡
Wow that looks really good I like the cedar shavings
Thanks very much!
Simple, yet beatiful. I like this little project of yours. That shavings really looks nice in the resin. Well done 😁👏👍🏼
Thanks for watching 😊✌️

Peggy that's a very beautiful pot its amazing what can be made from what would normally be thrown away or burnt. Nice job as always

Really looks good Peggy. I could almost smell the cedar.
Right?!! Thanks for watching.
I like the Coast Guard sweatshirt! I am a retired active duty Coastie and currently work as a CG civilian.
Cool. My dad was in for over 30...I’m a Coastie kid...
The polishing paste is my favorite part too! Well done, Peggy. I enjoy watching you so much!
I'm so glad! Thanks a ton!
That turned out beautifully! Great repurposing of the cedar shavings too. Cheers, Paige C.
Thanks, Paige!! ✌️
Beautiful, cedar colored the resin nicely, love the color and design ♥️

Hi Peggy, I really like the scale of the top to your piece. The cedar shavings are a hit, nice contrast all the way. Beautiful work as usual!
Thanks 😊
toujours aussi magnifique , toujours aussi original et parfaitement maitrisé, bravo
Thanks!
I'm in the middle of making a table out of slabs and was wondering how shavings and resin would look to fill in the gaps, now I know, thank you 👍👍
Fantastic!
Looks great great use of shavings 👍

It’s called face shield and respirator hair!
When I worked in a machine shop many years ago, we called double-sided tape "Foreman's Tape".....because it was 2-faced.

Great looking piece Peggy. Those shavings from the epoxy really make a mess. How do you care for your carbide cutters? Are you able to sharpen them? If you rotate them for a sharp edge, do you mark it any way so you know where it was at? Thanks.
The negative rake carbide is great for resin and very hard woods. I don't sharpen them, but I do rotate them to get the most use.
Wow Peg! I can't believe you didn't add any color to the resin and it ended up that dark. That is so very cool! Nice job! 💜
I know!!! Thank you!

Yes, they are. Thanks!!
Great piece! Love using the shavings. What grit do you sand to before using the paste? Really interested in the Acks products.
Thank you. I sanded from 80 to 2000 grit on this one.
Thanks so much. Stay safe, my wife is a nurse....crazy times!!
Very nice! Did any of the smell of the cedar survive the casting? I still have a few bags full and if it survived, I may try this. Thanks for the video.
Thanks. No, I don't think the smell survived, but then again I had a respirator on....I'll let you know if any survived...
Beautiful. I like the contrast. I feels strange to complement this piece like it stands out above the other work you do. It's all so beautiful 😍.
