I love getting pieces of wood that nobody else wants and turning them into something useful or decorative and like you I use a lot of CA glue to fill cracks. For me it gives a feeling of satisfaction and a finished piece that is even more unique. Well done Peggy, a very enjoyable show.
I just picked up two apple wood bolts a few minutes ago, came in the house, kicked back in my chair, opened utube and you turning an apple bowl. Interesting. I like your bowl and hope mine looks as nice. Thank you
Beautiful bowl, Peggy. I just finished saying (to myself) that I love the bottom when you said the same thing. Great minds really do run on the same track!
It’s very pretty, Peggy. I sat down with a coffee to watch your video. Now I’m going into my workshop to turn perfectly respectable pieces of wood into shavings and sawdust. I might also manage to make a bowl 🌞
Glad to see you back on a regular basis, hope everything is healing fine for you. Enjoyed watching the video of the apple bowl, really like the fine edge of the live rim.
This is a sensational piece. Easily your best and that is saying a lot. Also, I was watching a national weather report and I am glad I live in Washington state. On Saturday the high is expected to be 51 and the low 41 with a little bit of rain. On Saturday in Caribou, Maine the low is expected to be MINUS 21 WITH A WIND CHILL BRINGING IT DOWN TO MINUS 54. BRRRRRR
Lovely bowl with very nice color and the finish is very nice! I have been told that fruit wood cracks are caused by stress on the wood from when the tree was producing fruit! Any way well done and thanks! Cheers Al
Great bowl. I love the way apple turns, wet or dry. Such a tight grained wood. Your pile of ribbons there at the end are so typical of apple. In fact, I have an apple blank sitting on the lathe now. It needs to wait for a small project to get done, but then it’s on like Johnny Appleseed. Well done Peggy!
I have heard that all the fruitwoods are prone to cracking. I twice turned some Bradford Pear and eventually lost half to cracks (they were cracking while I was turning because of the Texas heat). Maybe turning to final thickness in one go (keeping it wet with a spray bottle) is the solution. It may turn into a potato chip as it becomes fully dry. I do kind of like the distorted look on a finished bowl.. Good video, thank you.
Hey Peggy, are you the only one that turns in your family ? Another good one . My little Jet 12X21 is down , it just stopped running. I ordered a power switch and if that doesn't work I guess it will go to repair shop. Anyway now I can catch up on video's.
Yet again another great turn, nice to see the Apple wood, one of my favourite woods to turn if I can get it. How long did it take to turn this awkward piece?
That is beautiful! Would be appropriate to put some apples in it! I purchased the Ack's paste and polish on your recommendation and I love that stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice bowl Peggy. I especially like the live edge. Reminds me a bit of Phil Anderson. I would like to see more live edge work too. Best wishes from Ohio.
So gorgeous, Peggy.....thats such a lovely bowl. Apple absolutely is my favourite Wood......
Thanks so much 😊
Very pretty...love the bark inclusion!
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful bowl. My wife and I enjoy your videos. Thanks for the fun.
Thanks for watching! Much appreciated ✌️

That bowl looks like it's just waiting to be filled with somebody's favorite chips! Thanks for the video, Peggy.
I think so too!

Thanks. Yes, it’s been very cold in Maine!!🥶
Very nice, thought the big crack’s would have been a big distraction, but the quality and design of the turning compensated.
Thanks!

Oh, wow! I didn't know StarBond made black CA. I've been using StarBond for years for cracky wood.
Love the black! Discount code in description if you need some!
Very nice piece! Well done.
Thank you! Cheers!
Peggy that turned out beautiful as usual! 👌You think those cracks might open up over time? Thank you for sharing! ✌️
We shall see! Thanks for watching!

Yes, lots of cracks. Thanks for watching ✌️
@@PFWoodturning Peggy, I understand you have a Sorby Pro Edge for sharpening. Do you find any disadvantages when cutting due to the flat grind?
👍🏻👍🏻 fantastic bowl! I really like deep it is - great popcorn or chip bowl.
Thank you very much!
Beautiful piece!
Thank you very much!
Very nice. Natural edge looks great!! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much 🤗
Nice looking bowl, I liked the process.
Thanks 👍
Fabulous.
✌️😎
Nice bowl! I'll have to send you some of the apple I have. It's got a rich red color for the heartwood.
Cool!
Good looking bowl.
Thanks 👍
Good job Peggy, that came out great. Your skills are definitely improving, which is great to see.
Thank you! Cheers!
That looks amazing. Looks like a lot of working the beginning to get it round, but it was worth it!
It was!
It really came out beautifully! I agree with you, the color of the wood (or bark?) on the bottom is really striking.
Thanks very much!
Great work, as usual! :)
Thanks again!
Great bowl, great work as always.👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
Very nice, love your work.
Thank you very much!

Yes, I'm the only one. Fingers crossed for your power switch to work!
Awesome looking bowl Peggy. I've never turned apple wood, does it really turn as easy as it looks?
Thanks again for your channel!
Yes it does!
Yet again another great turn, nice to see the Apple wood, one of my favourite woods to turn if I can get it. How long did it take to turn this awkward piece?
Hours...
That is beautiful! Would be appropriate to put some apples in it! I purchased the Ack's paste and polish on your recommendation and I love that stuff. Thanks for sharing.
👍 Awesome! It's great stuff (Ack's)!
that is a YUGE piece of Applewood. I would love to get my hands on Apple wood that big.
Yes, it is. I think it's the largest piece of apple I have.
Really cool look...the grain and the colors of the wood is superb. Thanks for another beautiful piece.
Thank you! Cheers!

Wow love it.
Thank you! Cheers!
That's a beautiful bowl

Beautiful bowl. I was hoping you were gonna keep more of the live edge on the rim. But it still turned out awesome.
Thanks 👍
love it 😃😃😃😃
✌😎
Great bowl
Thanks!
Looks great!
Thanks!
Beautiful job Peggy. Your PVC lathe tool holder, where did you find the design/plans for it? I need to make one.
No plans, I just made it.
That’s very pretty.
Thanks!
Very nice bowl Peggy. I especially like the live edge. Reminds me a bit of Phil Anderson. I would like to see more live edge work too. Best wishes from Ohio.
Thanks!!
I agree the bottom is the best.
✌️👍🏻
Very Nice!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful bowl Peggy,
Do you have a coring system? Just a waste of lovely material.
No, unfortunately I don't.
Very nice! What thickness did you get it to? Looks like a 1/4” or less.
The top is less than a 1/4” for sure, as it goes down it gets thicker.
Pretty bowl.
Thank you!
What is your reason for not wearing a glove during the roughing operations?
No reason, I probably should have though.
great job xoxoxo
Thank you!!
Very nice
Thanks
Nice job, looks great. I’m not a fan of fruit woods for that reason
I understand👍🏻
I like it
Thanks!
Nice. You need a bowl saver tool. You wouldn’t have all those shavings and you would have a couple more nice bowls.
You're right!
Man, that is pretty.
Thanks!
Is that a 3/4" or a 5/8" gouge?
I have both and use both.
👍
✌️
nice
Thanks
Tried using the total boat discount and does not work says INVALID! 🤷♂️
Hmmm....let me check on that.
As always awesome job! I believe that I learn something from every one of your shows, please keep up the great work from another mainer.
Awesome, thank you!
