⚠ To clarify, this video is not based on our opinion. This resulted from extensive research and talking to foreigners who had lived in Portugal and had decided to leave for those reasons. We understand that some of the things discussed in the video may upset viewers, but it's essential to describe how those who left felt in Portugal. We recognize that no place is perfect, and Portugal is no exception. While we like it here (that's why we live here), we also agree that those who don't feel at home should consider leaving. However, it's important to respect everyone's opinion. Our channel is not here to paint Portugal as a perfect place but to inform those who have never been here about what it's like. This means sharing our perspective and those of others who have lived here and described their experiences too. Thank you for understanding.

As an American that lived in Portugal, I knew that people were pumping Portugal up to be something it's not. It is a beautiful country, but UA-camrs make it out to be " heaven on earth". I was working in a hotel in San Francisco. and I was amazed at how many people were uprooting their family to live in a place they have never visited before. Also, I don't believe that Portugal is not being honest about their crime rate.
Although Portuguese people seem nice on the surface, but it's hard to make true Portuguese friends.
Also, I don't believe that Americans are willing to learn Portuguese. I learned Portuguese in a few months.
I think people should learn the language before moving to a country where they speak a different language.

I have lived in 2 countries I have never visited for school and work. Sometimes it can work. Right now I live in honestly the best country in Europe. Switzerland. But it's hard to make friends here and I speak the damn language ! Every country, especially after a certain age, is difficult to make friends. Unfortunately I moved here single and that makes things harder. But Switzerland is so organised and easy when comes to paperwork. It is basically the second Portugal, this is where all the Portuguese run too. But personally as soon as I finish my job obligations....I am not so sure I would want to live here and that probably sounds blasphemous to most people. Everyone has to find what works for them. Everyone is different.

All true, perfectly delivered. I can say it after 2 and half years living and working there. If you are rich and retired could be ok, as many EU eldery people that making hop on/hop off the country 6 months: but just 2hrs flight and no shocking culture, more or less. For American could be painful. And yes, it is not a paradise also for youngers travellers, digital nomads paid with very low salary, problematic bureaucrazy and health care system. Grocery, rent and bills going crazy out of control; then politics, energy issue, corruption, unsafety and immigration all true troubles. Thats why many PT guys leave also the country for better salary abroad, isn't it? Now, for many PT properties owners the tourism golden era will surely drop down, despite their assumptions, arguments and fake news. As usual, there is no paradise in life: you just need to choose your preferred purgatory! Ciao 😉

You are kind of wrong when you say 'no shocking culture for other Europeans' I am French and I really find the Portuguese culture very shocking. First of all, waiting in lines for everything, staff extremely slow, boring culture, totally disrespectful of their neighbors as 90% of Portuguese are extremely loud and go to bed very late. Nothing interesting to do once you have visited the small country. You can never swim as the Atlantic is constantly cold all year long despite the beautiful beaches. It rains a lot or it's grey almost like in London Uk (contrarily as what the propaganda videos want you to believe) and restaurants won't serve you before noon sharp (stupid). They still don't want to adjust to the tourists and continue to do it their 'inefficient way', in short they don't want to progress. Men are so uninteresting and primitive for the most part and they drive so badly, killing all the poor pigeons on the way. So sad but real. So when people tell you 'oh Portuguese are so nice', yes when they want to sell you something but very few are very nice indeed.

@@Carolinapetroska I'm from Rome Italy. Well, I agree with you for 90% of what you said, the same vision I have of Portugal after 2 years "lost" there working. But what you say is the daily aspect of their life and how you see the country: which, in fact, you may like or not. My reference was to EU retired who, however with various differences, they should know and understand, more or less, the PT lifestyle. Which you may like or not. Then it's easier with less bureaucracy, they don't have to live all year round, and so on. Of course if they like!
For an American it's very different and completely new, if he doesn't get fooled by YT videos just about milk and honey, or PTs who just want to sell him a house! Then clashing with daily reality, the inefficiency of services and the backwardness of many other things. Ciao

North Americans went to Portugal for a slower pace of life and then gets mad that people take it slow. The things that made them go to Portugal are the same things that are making them leave. The bureaucracy is the same that any citizen of the world goes through when they want to go and live in the USA. I'm absolutely certain that you haven't seen badly treated dogs in Lisbon or Porto, They go to live inland to villages where the inhabitants are old people, people who lived during the dictatorship, people who lived gagged by the regime and are hoping that these people will be like them.
