Within higher ed there can be a ceiling in some administrative departments if you do not have a PH.D. That said, the pay for many of these administrative positions does not warrant a Ph.D. and cost unless as Dr. Hobson suggests you wish to be an Assc. Dean, Dean, or whatever.

This is a tip-top video. I myself was three years beyond my master's when I realized I could accomplish a hundred times more by returning to teaching in a classroom and conducting countless thousands of field observations on students, which university researchers cannot do. What an incredible treasure that was. I continue building on the findings. Being in charge of deciding how learners spend their time is a lovely privilege.
