Sorry I'm just here by accident. But I'm a 2nd year PhD student and jobs market is really not something I considered when planning for my studies. I'm just consumed by passion. And I experienced a call. I think I was born to be a researcher and writing my statement of interest was relatively easy for me. I think guts feelings are crucial.

Great to find a vlog representing we Egyptologists! Tough time for our field, but i take solace in knowing that the subject of our studies has been around FAR longer than any economic downturn! As King Tut said “life’s sands shift with the desert moon”

Very sage review for all of us to consider. I received a PhD in Organization and Management from a for profit university taking 4 years. I was as able to pay for that education employing “pay as you go”, employee reimbursement and had the ability to pay off any loans within one year of graduation.
I agree that the costs incurred from a seven-year source of study and research is generally not economically beneficial. Enjoy your next phase 😀

A degree in Egyptology sounds pretty cool. I was attracted to Anthropology because I like Ancient Egyptian art and architecture. :)
