- Building a horse Eventing Pond turns out to be more challenging than Tractor Time with Tim thought it might be. TTWT and 21st Century Equipment uses two sub compact John Deere tractors to first fill in a giant hole for Carpe Diem horse arena before starting to construct the Eventing Course.
Special thanks to @21stEquip for bringing us out to Colorado for this project and providing two JD 1025Rs!

Nice to see 1025R content! Those little suckers are such amazing machines for their size
Making good progress on this big project!
Definitely a better tool for that job but I’d die to have a project where I have 4 or 5 buddies on compact tractors doing a big project. That just looks like a whole lot of fun.
Well Tim and Christy, you’re always up for a challenge, and it looks like you’ve got one! Looking forward to seeing what “done” looks like. Blessings.
Thanks for coming out!
Nothing better than Johnny and his friends playing in the dirt together.😁
Pushing dirt around is always good therapy.
Love the moving of dirt! This is the best with the commentary with it!
It’s good to see more 1025R content!
I really like my turf tires for compacting dirt/sand. When I am filling in holes or ruts- the turf tires are great for compacting.
Hey Tim, do a search for slot Dozing or dozing a slot.
You basically attack the center of the pile and use windrows to keep material in front of you for a distance... was taught by in army equipment training. served me well in my 25 year operator career.
Interesting! I have had zero training in techniques like this.
Been off line for a week, glad to be back to see Tractor Tim! Love the channel, content, and the video... Simply the best!
Welcome back!
Great job!!
Time for you to jump into a Deere Skid steer
I'm pulling back on the reins to stop from making several horse puns here.
Great example of using what you have available!!
Honestly, if you had a fraction of the folks that you've gotten into subcompacts able to show up? This'd take about an afternoon to fill in! lol
Yep! Assuming we could get organized and stay out of each other’s way!
Thanks for the kind words!
Bigger tractors always make the 1025r look underpowered, but it still impresses me what a sub compact (of any brand) is able to do. Time is the one thing I sorta have enough of and the back saving capabilities of having even a modest bucket, hp, lift, etc is hard to deny.
Use a pond sealer
keep practicing
There's no money like horse money
Looks like you almost tipped it at the beginning of the episode? Front tire took a surprising drop?
Hey Tim, I finally got my first new John Deere. You're going to laugh, but it's an S170 riding mower. It has a 24 HP engine and 48" cut. My old, used when bought, Craftsman riding mower is about to fall apart after probably 12 years or more of tinkering and using it as little as possible. The old Craftsman has a 42" cut and it takes about 2 hours to mow about 9/10ths of an acre. I guess my younger son has a way to learn how to mow grass now while I take care of the harder areas in less time. The nice part is that Green Part Store has parts. I pick it up tomorrow, but I'll still watch your channel to see what you're up to. LOL 😊I hope you had a good time with the horses. God Bless.
Congratulations! Why would I laugh?? That is exciting!
@@TractorTimewithTim I have to make a correction. It turned out to be an S140 instead of the S170. We had to make an adjustment due to our needs, not "wants". A Deere is still a Deere though.
Seems in the end it would be more cost effective to make the water feature larger to steal dirt to fill the hole. Hauling dirt is not cheap. But with the liner and cover material I have no idea.
While that may look like fun, I bet it gets old after the first 2 or 3 hours. Especially when you have to drive the little 1025R across 'bumpy' ground to get to those further piles. I have one and just driving across my back yard can get bumpy. As always, thanks for sharing.
12:40 😍 uhh a let me correct that....16:13!🥰
Did you sell your JD5075e ? Seems that would have been a better choice to bring on this project. Nice to see all that green paint working together.
This project was in Colorado. We live in Indiana. :-)
Yeah Tim I had to subscribe again too.
You need a john deere scraper 2112 DC, deere 8R and deere bulldozer
me thinks later a jd dozer would be handy!! or STRUCK MH4900 MINI DOZER
👍👍
Green Green everywhere and not a vegetation🥦 in sight😂
Tim, good video as always, but I have to disagree completely with your comment about pulling down the pile being a waste of time. With a powerful enough machine or loose enough material, maybe. But with these smaller tractors I find it absolutely advantageous to pull down the material before scooping.
There's an episode idea for you! Invite Mike Morgan out to your place for a visit (he's an advocate for pulling down the top of the pile). You two could have a competition with two similar tractors moving two identical piles of dense material from A to B. That would show if pulling down the pile really is a waste of time or not. If nothing else it would be fun to watch! 😃
Ah, always fun to disagree about stuff that doesn’t matter :-)
Thanks for watching!
@TractorTimewithTim I say to each their own and do what works for you. And you're right. It's better to argue about more important things, like what toppings are best on cheeseburgers! 🍔
I still think that would be a fun video though. 🙂
You all weren't horsin around.
🧐
In time 😬
Always pull down material from the top of a stock pile it is easier on the machine. Driving straight on is like hitting a brick wall every time. Just saying.
🇨🇦👍
It can but it will be a long day
Wouldn't a bulldozer have been a better option for that job? (what I mean is a front mound blade like a snow pusher, I forget the name of the implement to be honest!). I enjoy watching y'all play in the dirt. Brings me some calming joy. Hope you and Christy are feeling a little better!
Hmm. I think I mentioned that first thing.
@@TractorTimewithTim You did mention a bulldozer would be the correct tool but on a small tractor there is a blade that can be used like one... That is what I am getting at. I've seen them used here by farmers for their ditches as they can angle them easily.
I have BX Kubota. If it's an available attachment, I agree a frame mounted blade would be a huge help. I am also huge on using what tools are available. We have much harder soil in Central PA, but my BX is a bulldozer on wheels whether it is pushing soil, snow, or gravel. Tires are loaded lawn tires.
Why are y’all not using a dump trailer at least?
Don’t have one available.
And the distance is right on the edge anyway. It would take significant time to back the trailer in to dump, etc.
That’s a lot of soil to fill in
Keep going don't stop now?! Don't think you have enough dirt/sand... Where can you get more!!!??? 😮😢😅
I saw a sticker on the rear window of a car the other day that said are you following Jesus this closely. It made me think of you and Christy…
My power been out for 9 days, no internet no wi-Fi no phones service. These guys couldn’t find anything. Where these guys get their training is unknown. Took 5 guys and still couldn’t find it. Finally today it was fixed took one guy that new what he was doing to fix it. Took him almost 4 hours. And we had gone with no power for 9 days. I will tell this company to hit the road. On with the video.
Glad you are back!!
Rather put some panfish in there and fish. Wasted on horses.
Better than wasting it on fishing lmao
