Love this song so much. I know a lot of people prefer the original album version and also the live Australian version, but for me - this is the best. Just something about Elton's voice in this version, and the sound of the Yamaha...it's perfect.
As a young single mother of two little boys we didn't have much money for entertainment. We did have my stacks of Elton LPs and we would listen to them endlessly. Each boy had his favorite song but this one was "their song". When my oldest son got married last year this was the song we danced to for the mother/ son dance. It may seem like a strange choice to some but it has special meaning for us. I can never listen to this without tears streaming down my face.
I remember this song and have looked for it for a long time...just had the wrong name in mind. So great to finally find it! Those 2 men together have created some of the most timeless music...what talent!
This is just perfect. Musically and lyrically, this song is an example of a simple yet very powerful composition. It is one of very few songs that got me teary from the very first listen, and caused a strong emotional response inside me. I like this version the best because Elton's delivery, performance, and even facial expression matches so perfectly with the theme of the song, and the piano solo for this works a lot better for me to emphasize the simplicity and beauty of this song.
Tutta la vita che ascolto la tua " musica divina " e penso che sei stato il mio cantante preferito ❤️note angeliche meravigliose , passione , amore , lacrime e sorrisi 😘 indimenticabile Reg..!!!
Depending on my mood, I'll prefer the "1986 Live In Australia" version, because of the lush arrangement, with full orchestra. This simpler production has me mesmerized, and in some ways, I prefer this version. Both, however, always cause me to tear up. The truth and simplicity of the lyrics, are incredibly powerful. ".....large hands lift him through the air......excited eyes contain him there..." Just WOW! Elton's piano work, on this version, is exquisite, and fills in nicely, for the absent orchestra.
I heard Elton play this during a solo show in Denver. I was reduced to tears. Absolutely beautiful song.
I really love that YAMAHA sound so much.

Why has he apologized about his English?
He's evidently apologizing to the Spanish audience for speaking English and having it translated to them. In other words: Elton no habla Espanol!
Yep, but I haven't seen that in other audiences, like Russian or french
