Hey, I saw myself! At 6:02, you passed a muddy crash. The guy who crashed was none other than John Burke, the president of Trek Bicycle. He was right in front of me when it happened. By the time you passed, he was up and walking, but hurt. I'm in the Eddy Merckx replica jersey on the right side of the trail, next to John Burke in the red/white/blue "Forward" jersey. It was a wet, greasy day on those dirt trails for sure. Lots of people went down.
Those wet bridges can get pretty sketchy with road bike tires. I can’t imagine riding through the 4400 foot tunnel.. it’s pretty gnarly in there. The shorter ones no problem.. glad you had a good experience and didn’t get hurt
Currently on the fence if I should do rideacrosswisconsin in 2023 or not. I think this video convinced me that I should at least do the first leg from La Crosse to the Dells
I think I was on CX tires around 33 which was great for me, but if it was dry you can easily run 25's...the tunnels are sketchy no matter the weather, but the rest is easy if it is dry. If wet, slow the F down and dont ride in packs. I have to say A LOT of the crashing could have been prevented with that advice.
Good question. I used my CX bike so that was 33cm tires with a lil tread on the sides and file tread down the center. I did a preview video on RAW too where I talk more about the bike/tire choices for this ride. If I were doing the 1 day I would have to go road tire 28 but on the 2 I knew the pace would be slower (for me at least) so I could go with more tire. I think overall 28-32 touring tire would be the best choice on this route for 2 day
Try 1200 miles in three weeks 24 times 500 miles in 7 days. 41 times from head waters of the Wisconsin River to the Mississippi. Try that after riding in Georgia across Georgia 500 miles two weeks before Wisconsin coming from Virginia cycling 600 miles 8 day all in the month of June 19 86 thru 2018. That’s just June then onto July and Iowa cycling from the Mississippi to the start of ragbrai across Iowa to the Mississippi then up to Minnesota for 500 mile 7 day averaging 8,000 miles a year for 45 years over 360 -across state bicycles rides, 500 mile events good job though keep track of your miles, maybe you’ll catch up with me I just cross the 300,250 miles 55 years of cycling 18 country’s, 47 states just think you have 46 more states to ride.
Lol. You can see I sorta hesitated on that statement. In my head I was thinking - like compared to car racing or cocaine then yeah it’s cheap. Lololol. Good catch Jon
Awesome, thanks for sharing.
Can't wait to see RAW 2024 video.
Didn’t make it this year. It’s a fun event tho!

that bridge took out A LOT of folks - I thought that was John, hope everyone healed up!

Awesome job Brian Davis races.
Thank you for taking a moment to write that. Much appreciated!
Great job on a beautiful 2-day adventure. Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
It was a blast. Made editing easy! Thx Lucas!
Another great video, Brian! I toyed with coming up for this ride, and your video has sold me on it for 2023.
I’ll see ya there - planning on it again!
Awesome positivity and great video thank you.
Thanks Matt. I really appreciate the positive comment
Excellent video man! 👌🏻
thank you Edward - that means a lot to me!
Been looking for the route , but can't find it.
Great stuff mate. All about getting out and just doing it. Always love your vids.
Awesome Peter. Thank you so much!
Always cable operated. Very very very rarely lets you down.
And if it does, you can buy a cable anywhere. Even Walmart.

It was a blast, really well run and I loved the trail section, but it had a share of people that didn't - right bike = good times
Was that Bryant Kelly at 3:08 ish?
I think he did race the lake instead. Not 100% sure
I'm comin in to see bike dr!
Coming in hot!
Maybe a dumb question but did anybody there have flat bars?
Oh absolutely. Many riders on hybrids but I suspect they were doing the shorter route options.
What width tires did you ride and with all the accidents, would you recommend a different width or tread?

I’m not sure if I missed you mentioning it. But what tires did you run? And would they be your tire of choice for next time?

Lies Cyclists Tell Newbies: “Doesn’t cost nearly as much as some other choices…” 🤣😂🤣😂
Just messing with ya Brian! Loved the video!

Gotta charge your Di2
Really needed that comment the week prior 🤣
Did you ride RAW? Tell me about it (or ask a question)
