These lessons are beautifully done, Blue. Simple, clear, practical. Wish I had encountered these earlier in my guitar playing, they would’ve accelerated my learning considerably.
This is exactly what i was looking for - subscribed - please post more like this - simple stuff is great - the same / similar / same chords different licks and turnaround - doesn’t matter - just please post more like this! Thank you 🤘🎸🎶
Thank you for this! I hope you’ll consider following up with a more advanced version of combined rhythm+lead playing, Hendrix styles, etc. I’d love a whole series of videos on this topic, going from intermediate to advanced concepts. It’s not something I’ve been able to find much instruction on.
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver Awesome! So glad you are making videos on this topic. After writing this I realized that there is actually a ton of instruction on the related concept of chord melody in the Jazz world, but I think many guitarists will be interested as I am to develop the skill to combine rhythm and lead playing for blues/country/rock/indie/pop etc
Thank you! Such a valuable lesson in my journey right now. No looper pedal, no jam tracks, no metronome - Just an intimate connection with the guitar+amp+timing. Felt magical once I nailed it. Absolutely no one does this on YT. Maybe active melody to some extent.
This video hits right were I am at as an intermediate player. Like most other people I have watched literally hundreds of other guitar videos explaining soloing over the 12 bar blues but none have been as concise and to the point as this video. Thank you!
Thank you!! This lesson is just genius, because it simplifies what many teachers make complicated. By reducing the soloing spot(s) it makes it possible for beginner/intermediates like me to make the 12 bar format musical and to ‘just play’ :)
Fantastic Blue! The concept of understanding how much space and time you must fit a "solo" in was completely lost to me. Of course, bringing it back to the 12-bar blues form is what the doctor ordered! Thanks!
A fairly simple concept to grasp theoretically but not so simple (in my experience) to follow-through on practically. Fantastic approach and explanation. Thank you.
I love this video and the other video of yours that I also watched today.. I would like even more videos expanding on this topic. Good job. Craig Ewinger
The more I look at this (And I have been working with it for 3 days now) the more I realize how great this is on so many different kevels. For so long now, I have known my pentatonic up and down the neck, I have known by Diatonic up and down the neck, but have never been able to accomplish a nice blues sound, mostly because NOBODY talks about timing between chords, and exactly how to accomplish what this video talks about, and the connections it makes. Not sure how you can follow this up with something similar, where the focus is on timing the chores as they come and pass, but that would be brilliant to do! ... Thanks so much for this lesson! ,
Thanks for the great feedback. I do plan on doing more like this one. Might be a few weeks away for another on this subject as I'm working ahead of schedule, but definitely more to come. Thanks!
Holly shit this video and lesson , is pure Gold! I always struggled knowing where I am in the measure. Can I do another lesson like this but not using the quick change to know when a phrase is finished to go to the next chord. Thx 🙏
Man another great lesson. Well explained. Still paging through your book on soloing. Good job. It's a little simple for me for where I am in my journey, but good for a beginner. I would recommend anybody who's beginning to complement these lessons with your book. Looking forward to the second book on soloing with some emphasis on major stuff. Keep it up!
G'day Blue, enjoying the simplicity of your lessons Bloke!! Most players I follow on UA-cam are seriously advanced players that leave me in the dust!!! I like your style of teaching the basics!! Cheers. See ya on the next one.
Awesome lesson to learn, practice and get confident enough to be able to include solo fills with the blues, please could you teach how to count and/or be in time, thanks a lot!
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver No hurry, take your time, I create videos too so I know it takes time (click my username and check out my channel when you get time) am subbed and along for the ride ☺🤘 Another suggestion: Pentatonic, most people are comfortable playing in position 1 , and 2 (BBs box) but moving on to 3,4 and 5 - not so much, would be good to see some ideas there. Cheers!
This is blues style I am trying to learn as a beginner. How to know how much space for solo in 1 bar, think metronome will help. Hope se more this type blues lessons. Thanks

@@GuitarLessonsVancouver Great sound and finish! Great Lesson! Been looking at your lessons for a few months now! You are a really good teacher not going over the heads of the players that you are targeting! Thank You, Gary
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver I like your descriptions of the easy shape and the easy pattern but I also use the jimi hendrix E shape and the Jimi Hendrix A minor shape. The thumb over the neck allows me to see where I am on the front board by looking at my thumb on the top. I can move up the front board very quickly find chords and hammer embellishments. I was hoping you could do a lesson on that.
My dude, I get it. but you never "play CHORDS and SOLO at the SAME TIME" - you are switching off, task switching as oppose to multi-tasking. The kind of multi-tasking to actually play them at the same time is a godlike skill using multiple fingers of the picking hand (or maybe fingerpicks). I personally I had seen Jimi Hendrix, Steve Howe, Adrian Legg, John McLaughlin, Arlo Guthrie, Jeff Beck, Jorma Kaukonen, Al Di Meola, and many accomplished classical guitarists do this. That madman, Di Meola does it in one SINGLE flat pick, no fingerpicking! I cannot explain how. Maybe he in fact, made a contract with Ole Scratch down at the Crossroads. But saw it, myself.
Thanks Ceres, we can also use chords in a solo, especially small tiads. Check out my video "The Incredible Chord Scale Connector" which does a similar thing.
