I myself am transgender and of the Mormon church. I joined the church while I was transitioning, but I hid it from the church, so I got baptized as male. Not only that, but I finally stood up and said something to my bishop, and I can now say I'm being guided down the right path as a wonderful daughter to the father. The church helped me find my testimony now the church is helping strengthen it.

Be careful, Be patient. If he ever comes to your ward, don't presume to tell him he made the wrong choice, you... just... might... have... no... idea.

But if God intended him to be a son, he would have been born a man. Gender continues on in the eternity because we have a heavenly Mother and Father. So our gender is connected to our souls. Does that mean if he changes his physical being by removing genitalia his eternal self also becomes a woman? No it doesn't.

I am Transgender born to the mormon church and this video is so painful to me. I was told aged 19 in 1996 that if I transitioned i would go to outer darkness. I transitioned half way before my "family" cut me off and I was forced to stop. To this day even after a years worth of HRTs in 1996, I still get abuse from my family when I am a major bread winner and I have given away my gender so i can help raise my sister's kids. this video makes me cry. I am a daughter of the winter morning, I have carried my family over and over when they needed someone strong and yet my fundamental being they will NEVER acknowledge. and I am still faithful, I know Jesus will show them their daughter .. one day

Amen!! It's cognitive dissonance that keeps many mormons trapped in that religion. Many know that things aren't right, that there are conflicts between the bible (the truth) and the book of Mormon (fables, deception, lies, plagiary). But they choose to stay because their religion has become their life, their cult. All their friends and in some cases all their family are in the church. If they leave they will be outcast.
It does take time to recondition your mind and understanding of what is true doctrine and what was false and confusing/conflicting.
      You will get there!! :)
Keep praying, keep studying the bible, pray for wisdom and for guidance and revelation from the Holy Spirit.
The kingdom of heaven rejoices every time another persons leaves the mormon religion or any other religion.
Love and God bless to you too!! And to all those who have come out of religion and are now following Jesus.
Praise Jesus, forever and ever. Glory to the Father, for there is no one good bu the Father.

It's interesting that he's going to the mountains to feel close to Heavenly Father; in church doctrine we are taught that they are temples too. I've seen so many people, within the LGBT spectrum like me, letting themselves be pushed away from the church for being who they are and I'm so happy that Emmett understands that it's not God doing this but the limitations of men. The gospel is for everyone and we can only do what we can and love everyone, and work within the failings of a mortal church structure that can never match the love and understanding of the divine 💜

Raðni Neilsson I’m not really a Christian but I’ve done a lot of study and it seems to me that the Mountain is more a church than the modern institutions we call church. In scripture. Jesus preached in the temple sure but the church as it was founded existed as informal relationships between god and individuals and a community and the faith was practiced in nature as much as it was in buildings. In this way lgbt people cannot be rejected from the church as no body can as long as they practice the faith and hold it to be true.

Alex Thompson you might want to try and understand the hormones that are distributed from the carrier to the fetus in the third trimester. Gender is on a spectrum and everyone literally has different levels of estrogen and testosterone within each and every cell of ones body. If you look at siblings who are blood related, they still have different amounts of hair on their bodies or have things that are not genetically related and are hormon related ....plus intersex children are born everyday but because of religion and societies, there is only male and female and what is between your legs is the only deciding factor in what your gender is. That belief is not honest to nature. It’s a sex organ, not a gender marker. Being honest is following your natural biological make up. I grew Mormon and it’s a cult. I hope these people actually see they are belong fooled by a con man.

Cari G first of all gender and sex have been the same for hundreds of years(on many documents you see them used interchangablly). Secondly hormone level and being more feminine or masculine does not mean a different gender. You can't say "gender is a social construct" to justify changing it then say "I was born that way" when people say your doing something wrong because that is contradicting yourself. If gender is different from sex then why do you use intersex to justify transgenderism? Seems like you change the meaning of gender just to suit your situation. Also you obvious have little understanding about sex if you think it is as simple as what is between your legs. Chromozomes determine sex. Intersex is just a deformity as being born with 11 fingers is. Finally transgenderism still is not found to be biological as studies done on twins(which have the same genetic and go throught the same womb conditions) show that one can be trans and the not.

Alex Thompson being intersex is a part of being human which is also a part of being trans. Why? Because the hormones dispersed into every cell of the human body includes the brain AND other organs....being intersex is based off of hormones effecting the organs between your legs and ovaries (which are also balls) and trans is hormones effecting the brain. We are all given a genetic code of xx or xy chromosome initially but it is in the third trimester when all our organs are being masculinised and or feminised based off this code, sometimes the hormones given from the carrier (“mother”) are dispersed in areas that effect us and dont complete this code in the areas for instinse, estrogen given to a male body part/s in this trimester.... maybe someone has their ovaries drop down into balls being masculinized but then their clitoris isn’t masculinized with testosterone to grow into a dick. Please educate yourself on what it truly means to be human..... we are all humans on different levels of masculinity and femininity. Fuck gender stereotypes and be you. Peace and love to all yall!!!!! *mic drop*

Emmett Claren, We are with you always and forever. "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself" (emphasis added). Matthew 22:39 "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
I had never realized that loving myself was a commandment. I had always understood that self-love was important, but I believed the purpose of self-love was primarily to enable us to better serve others. While this is a true and important concept, self-love is also meant for us. I experienced a significant paradigm shift when I realized that God’s commandment to love and serve His children includes loving and serving ourselves-not only because self-love fills us with more love to give others, but also because He wants us to love ourselves the way He loves us.
Jesus Christ-demonstrated self-love many times throughout His life, probably more than what is recorded in the scriptures. There are several accounts in the New Testament of the Savior taking time to be alone. For example, after He performed the miracle of feeding the five thousand with five loaves and two fishes, He “sent the multitudes away . . . [and] went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone” (see Matthew 14:23). Christ’s commitment to self-love in this instance is significant-although He could have continued to serve, He recognized His personal need for solitude and “sent the multitudes away” in order to care for Himself and connect with His Father in Heaven.

Honestly, I don't like religion either, but it seems to be important to him. I wonder, does it have to be the Mormon church? Like , can he join a different more accepting church? They're all Christian churches, right? Or do they believe that other Christians are going to hell, and only Mormonism is the one true religion? I grew up Baptist, personally, and when I moved to America, we switch to a different protestant church without much trouble, but maybe it's different for Mormonism? I'm also happy to have organized religion out of my life, as it's run by people, and people are corrupt by nature.

@@BothHands1 Well thats the point really. People should be choosing Christianity over religion. And many people are today. There are many people who were once caught up in religious institutions who have now fled those religions and are now following Jesus. There are many of us who call us "non religious Christians". We stick to the bible and to the Lord and the Holy Spirit.
God created man, man created religion.
Jesus and the Gospel were no longer enough for man so they created religions with false doctrines (fables of men and doctrines of devils) and set them before them like idols and now worship those idols/religions.
Jesus leads to salvation, religion leads to destruction.
Jesus is the narrow path/gate, religion is the broad path.
And as we're seeing today, all religions are being united by the Ecumenical movement which is being driven by the Roman Catholic Church. They are all being united under a one world, Babylonian mystery religion. This is why it is so important that true Christians COME OUT OF religion NOW and turn back to the Lord. Religion is going to drag everyone to their destruction.
Jesus loves everyone, however He wants you, no matter who you are, to trust in HIM!!!
Too many people are turning away from God because of what religion is saying and doing. But they need only turn away from religion and turn back to God.

I am a Mormon mom with 3 boys & 1 daughter. This was very emotional, so moving, so sad but also awesome to see Emmett be brave enough, & strong enough to share his story, & to follow his heart to become the person he is now. Much love to you Emmett and anyone else who is going through the similar changes. I believe in you. Be strong and stay strong. 💪🏽🙏🏽💞
I have male and female friends who are gay and lesbians around my age. I am friends with parents who have gay and lesbian children. My own kids have been friends with both gay and lesbians. They also have friends with a mom or dad or brother or sister who are gay and lesbian. My oldest son had a birthday party when he was in 1st grade and he had a male friend who was African American & not a Mormon, another who was Hispanic who was a Catholic, another who was Samoan & went to The Church of the Bible, one who's last name was Mormon but was not Mormon, another friends who was Is Mormon but I felt from about the age of 2 had very feminine characteristics and I told my husband I felt he was going to be gay or transgender when he came to grips with who he really was. That young man came out in High School that he was gay but a lot of the kids knew before he knew or recognized it himself. I never told my kids who to be friends with and who he couldn't hang out with. I just wanted them to be kind and loving to everyone. Everyone of my 4 children hung out with kids of all different races, different religions, different family dynamics, guys and girls. I was and am very proud of them for loving the Lord, loving themselves, & loving others. None of them served a formal 2 year Mormon Mission but I feel they have been missionaries throughout their lives by living, loving, staying true to themselves, their beliefs, leading by example, accepting others as they are no matter their race, religion, or gender. My husband & I have always told my kids I would love them always and forever no matter what. We may not like what they do but we would always love them. In return we have been very fortunate to have their friends be very respectful and part of our family and always welcome in our home. We've also had our kids talk to us about things they've done or heard it from their sibling or friends and had open & honest conversations. I've always felt I was judged more harshly for me or my family's trials by others who think they are better than everyone else. It's not exclusive to Mormons but I know that it is not for me to judge them back. We've talked to some people who feel they are 'better than anyone else' but I realize that it doesn't matter what race, religion, or gender others are. We are all human beings with our own imperfections and trials. Instead of ostracizing people who are different than us, we should be loving them, talking to them, listening to them and helping them. It is so sad for me when I see people struggling.
Emmett is a good example of how and why we should all reach out and help each other's through our trials and struggles. Maybe we will come out of that trial different but does that really matter in the big picture? We are all in this life together. As a Mormon I can say I am proud of who I am. I believe in the teachings and basic principles of the Mormon religion. I can honestly say that I know we have a Heavenly Father who loves everyone. He loves all of us. We should not ask others if they need help or how we can help, we should be opening our eyes, our minds, & our hearts and just help. Instead of doing this 🙈🙉🙊, we should be doing this 👀👂🏻👄💞🙏🏽

When Jesus left us He sent us the Holy Spirit. It is through the Holy Spirit that we receive guidance and counsel and direction.
Its not something that you can see but something that you know. And if at first we ignore or doubt what we've been prompted to know/do then we receive the same prompting again and again until we take action.
Being a Christian is about being in a personal relationship with Jesus and the Father.
When you look at religion and all the religious institutions such as Mormons, Catholics, Baptists etc etc then you will obviously not see any evidence of God because they don't follow God. They preach hatred and judgment and condemnation. They exclude anyone who doesn't conform to their ideals, to their image. They show no love .... and I understand thats what you mean by "don't see any evidence" because only by their fruits will you know that they truly love and serve the Lord and are lead by Him.
With religion all you see is confusion and rejection, very rarely any love let alone true love. Most of the love shown in religion is feigned, its false, its forced, its all for show rather than being genuine. Don't look to religion for evidence!
If you truly want to know if God/Jesus exist then all you need to do is to look AWAY FROM religion and turn to Jesus for answers. Turn away from man and turn unto the Lord. Only the Lord will reveal the truth to you, man cannot do this for you. No one can tell you that God is true and that you simply just need to "believe" and "have faith" because again it is about having your own personal relationship with God. If you truly want to know then pray to the Lord and you will receive your answer.
And God will never ever tell you to go and join some of religion after that, because again, religion is not of God. Religion is man made.
Many people are waking up to what religion is and are coming out of it. We call ourselves non denominational Christians. We are simply just Christians, we dont use any other labels such as Mormon, Catholic, Pentecostal etc.
      I hope this helps.
It takes time to understand all this. Allow yourself time. Keep praying and trusting the Lord. Seek Him.
      God bless.
      Praise Jesus.

You deserve to be treated better regardless of whether you stay with the church. Its tough to advocate for yourself but just remember that you matter.

Humans are just struggling on gender identity. I AM SURE God loves all of us and all who love him and love their neighbor as themselves will be saved. That is STILL the greatest commandment of all. Churches are struggling with this -- but in the end GOD is the ONLY judge. Let's just focus in the plank on our own eye. God have mercy on us all.

The moment he started crying after seeing his chest, I just wanted to hug him, cry with him and congratulate him because this what he's been wanting for so long and he deserves so much happiness and love!
What people seem to forget is that, people who are trans, gay, nonbinary, really anyone in the LGBTQ+ community is still human. They still feel happiness, heartache, anger, and yet people treat them as less than human and that's just so heartbreaking to see. But when you see stuff like this, you can see the happiness that they're experiencing when becoming their true selves and it makes you want to celebrate with them.
You may never understand what they're going through, or ever get to feel what they felt, but things like this, certainly help us cis genders understand them better. I know it did with me.
I didn't understand anything about being trans, but I was just like "Okay, so you changed genders, that's cool." But I never understood what trans people went through or the internal struggle and this helped me to understand it and I just respect trans people so much because of their courage to fight to become who they are on the inside.
People of religion say that God hates gays, trans folk, etc., but in the same breath say that God loves all his children. The way I see it, God wouldn't create you that way if he didn't love you. He always has a plan for you before you're even born, so he knows, and he still loves you even when others don't. So never blame him for those people who interpret the Bible wrong, that's their own fault.

Once upon a time a man had a private spiritual encounter, where he produced a book which he said was from God. He said it confirmed previous Scriptures, though in actual fact it added fundamentally new doctrines (and by implication, overrode previous doctrines). It never outright criticised the actual Scriptures Christians had, but this Book by implication criticised them. To make sense of their new religion, these followers had to say that the Word of God in the Bible had been corrupted and lost somewhere on the way. This new book produced a whole load of other stories about Prophets. But rather than these Prophets speaking this themselves, with miracles of amazing power that were witnessed by whole communities of people (such as seeing the Red Sea part, or seeing a man raised from the dead), this man instead asked you to believe the book based on your feeling of simply reading that book. The man who declared himself a Prophet used his revelation to justify marrying many women. He also used his book to justify a return to legalism. The effect of his book was to bring the "holy land" to the place where he lived. That man's name was Muhammad and the book he brought was the Quran, and he brought the "holy land" to Mecca and the Kaaba, and used his revelation to justify marrying many women. If that story sounds similar, it's because its meant to- it's been rehashed and repackaged just for you. But if you want the Message that was confirmed by the Prophets themselves, where God promised not to let His Word pass away (Isaiah 40:8), and declared that death would not overcome His Message (Matthew 16:18), then I exhort you to look into the Message of love and grace in the Bible, whereby the "only true God" (John 17:3) who says "besides me there is no God" (Isaiah 45:5), comes and saves you, even when you were counted as His enemy (Romans 5:10). That was done in love. If you want to explore that message more, consider the videos on youtube by the "Bible Project". And if you want to refute me on anything I've said, please feel free. I'm not anti-Mormon, I love Mormons. But I also love the truth and I love the perfect Word of God which is "is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for EVERY good work". (2 Timothy 3:16-17, emphasis added). Love, peace and respect to all.

Please don't investigate or look into Mormonism or any of the religions out there. They are all spiritual death traps.
You only need to follow Jesus, study the bible, pray, allow yourself to be lead by the Holy Spirit of God.
They should not be asking about your sexuality. That is between you and God.
Mormons only ask personal questions such as that so that they can control and manipulate you.
When John the Baptist and his followers were baptizing people they didn't ask what sins they committed .... they simply baptized them.
Jesus knows that we are all sinners, that we have all sinned and all have come short of the glory of God .... yet He died for ALL men. He shed His blood so that we could all be washed clean in His blood. And after all, the Blood of Jesus is the true baptism.
So please, seek Jesus, not religion.
      Jesus saves, religion destroys.

Mormons created an image unto themselves, and expect everyone to conform to that image.
God created man, man created religion!
God created man to serve Him, man created religion for its followers to serve.
Man serves religion more than they serve God.
Jesus wants us to follow Him, not religion.
Jesus said I Am the way, not religion is the way.
Jesus said Follow Me, not follow me then pick some brand of worldly religion to follow also.
Jesus never followed a religion. In fact Jesus was against the religious people of His day and He even went as far as to call them the children of the devil.

I just wonder if these people that are Mormon and trans actually believe the church is true. As in they have the standard testimony (i.e. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is God's one true church, Joseph Smith restored the gospel, the Book of Mormon is the word of God, Thomas S. Monson is God's prophet today, etc., etc. if you grew up Mormon you know what I'm talking about). Or if they're testimony is more vague, like Mormonism is their spiritual home, and whether they believe the actual doctrine or not does not concern them that much, because either way Mormons are their spiritual family, for better or worse. Or I'm wondering if maybe they believe the Church is true but the Church is just going through some growing pains and eventually the Church will accept LGBT people as full members.

I am Mormon, I grew up Mormon, I remain Mormon, I am Transgender, I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God, I know the Bible is the word of God (but I do not believe in Solo Sciptora), I have a testomony of the 9th article of faith, oh how you don't know how hard I hang on to the 9th Article of Faith. I know Christ is my Savior, I know President Nelson is God's Prophet today, and the only person on earth authorized to exercise all priesthood keys. I also (unavoidably, and despite Five decades of suppressing and fighting, and burying it in myself) am a Transgender Person. My mind and my heart and my spirit feel inextricably female... even though I am in a bishopric (closeted etc). I love the church, I love my Savior, I love the people in my ward, I love my family (who has continued to love me back even though this reality is very hard for my wife), even though I feel... often feel... usually feel... like I would rather just die.(some trolls might say to just go ahead and die, but they are already dead themselves). Suicide attempts among transgender individuals in unsupportive milieus is tragically high (may be up to 40%!)... the only way I am still alive today is by finally accepting myself and I have found in the process that Heavenly Father accepts me too, his church (my church too mind you), has done all but nearly entirely turn its back on me, giving me little hope even for a framework of joy in the resurrection with some of the rhetoric that is out there. Thank God, literally, that he has not turned his back on me and that the Savior knows zactly zactly zactly what we are going through (see Alma chapter 7), that he thereby might know how to succor his people. The only way I have found to stay in the church is to keep my testimony that it is true, but that the people in it, including the prophets, seers, and revelators, are not always right, but that Christ will continue to lead us forward. Remember that President Nelson himself humbly reminded us in his testimony when the First Presidency was announced that he is NOT infallible. I sustain him. Prophets have been wrong before, and were still prophets. I am going to stay in the church, but if it ever comes down to the choice of living or staying in the church... I am going to live, I am going to keep my first covenant, even if the church kicks me out of the temple or the church itself for it. So, since you were wondering... there is a snippet of this transgender girl's testimony, not a "standard testimony" perhaps in that it is not a collection of the typical liturgical testimony phrases you mentioned above, but a blood-money testimony. I know who paid, and although the prophets and seers and revelators have sacrificed much through their service, they are not the ones who paid, and not the ones I ultimately trust with my life. That person would be Christ. Your question touched me, I could not let it go... since you asked. Lona.
