Your face says "I'm disappointed in this place" 😂😂
lol right 😂
He's trying so hard not to disparate the business lol
Mother’s is another tourist trap in New Orleans. I get so sad when I walk past and see a line outside the door, knowing no one from New Orleans eats there, and knowing there are hundreds of better places tourists could go.
Im from Baton Rouge. Even we know not to eat there. Tourist trap.
My first time visiting New Orleans I went there also, and was like eh. This isn’t worth it. Definite tourist trap.
You don't like nothing from Nola you from a fit culture shut up
40 years ago they had fantastic poboys. Also, Galatoire's used to be one of the BEST but turned into a tourist trap as well.
Well I went there 4 years ago and that food was good as hell!!!!And I’m very picky 😊So I don’t know what y’all talking about the wait was worth it for me
NEW ORLEANIAN HERE
DO NOT DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES EAT AT MOTHERS
ITS A SCAM
YOULL NEVER IN YOUR LIFE FIND SOMEONE FROM NEW ORLEANS EATING AT MOTHERS
JUST SKIP IT
Wow that bad? Lol
@@samuthmonychann9319 I've NEVER in my life rich poor yt blq Italian Vietnamese Irish West bank down to chalmations to the north shore , I mean never in my life my Baby have I've ever heard someone say on a casual Tuesday "I got a hankering for some mothers" never
What they said ☝️☝️☝️...
For inquisitive tourists dat don't know any better 🤷♂️.
I said only go at 6am for a black ham biscuit and grits with debris, everything else is for tourists 😂
This comment couldnt be more true. Tourist trap vile crap😂
Looks like left over food you'd find in the fridge and make a meal out of last minute.
Mother's??? You can tell immediately who owns it based on the photos on the wall right at the entrance. 😂
I remember I had friends that came to Philly and I took them all over place and they just kept saying how beautiful Philly is. I never paid any attention to it because I'm from Philly. But, when I would go to other cities, I would think their city is awesome, until one day I was looking at photos and realized it wasn't, it was just new. I think most ppl don't appreciate what they see every day but appreciate things that are new to them. It was ppl coming from out of town that made me appreciate Philly, the Parkway, Olde City. UC, Chestnut Hill, Germantown, Fairmount Park etc. Side Note: There are certain parts I hope our new mayor does clean up, if she doesn't the developer will. 😂
Enjoy yourself and may you and your wife have safe travels back home 🙏
I stayed at a hotel directly across from Mother’s and the lady at the desk advised us not to go to Mothers’s. She said the birds wouldn’t eat it! So we went to The Ruby Slipper.
Ruby Slipper is top tier! One of my favorite places ! Actually top favorite
Yeah the Ruby Slipper is really good ❤
This is a subliminal to all the moms out there. I love you mom, see you Sunday.
I'm dying laughing because my son is just like JL. He doesn't like "string bean juice" touching anything else on his plate.
Hello and good day to you ladies and gentlemen watching this video ☮️ of JLJUPITER❤ Saying hello from Melrose Park Illinois 🇺🇲
Much appreciated and good day to you and your family and friends ❤
Lol, when JL is not feeling a place, he let's you know. I've rarely seen him push a plate away like he did in this video.
I try to watch all your videos, and I appreciate your true feelings.
🤣 My Boy Said " I'm going to Stop Eating This." Then pushed it Away 🤢🤮 💯💯💯
Enjoy yourselves in New Orleans . Be blessed 🙌
Crystal sauce, a staple. Both platters look home made.
Hey JL...
Dooky's / Dooky Chase...
A popular & Famous Black Owned
Family Restaurant...
Please go there...
In New Orleans...
I believe you both will
Love it ❤ 😍
Blessings 🎉❤
You cannot ask working people that question. Just look it up for the best meals that are rated...
“Day known for da ham.” 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow, this is 1 of the rare times you actually express how much you dont like something haha
Happy Mother's day to your wife and your mom and above all to all the mom's in the world
I used to own a restaurant and customers would ask what's good and I would tell them. They would order the direct opposite. Thanks why you get " everything is good".
Mother's is alright. No complaints about the food or service. It's just become a tourist attraction more than a local spot. And the prices reflect it. Seafood plates are the best in NOLA. Po Boy's are good, but a good seafood plate? Heaven!
I love your honesty! And yes, I feel the same way about that “everything is good” comment, like you know you gotta favorite! Stop playin loollll😂
Deanie's in Metairie, La. (Lake Ave.) is a great place to eat.
Amen, I got ruined on green beans as a kid. Between the nasty school canned beans and my mom cooking them to death in water lol
If you didn’t like green, why in hell you order it fam, fried chicken is the best there!
Willie Mae's Scotch house truly has the best fried chicken I've ever tasted!
2:55 you couldn't pay me $1000 to eat that nasty food
Would you compromise for $2000?
@@FenroyIII maybe 2500 actually 5000 it's the shame that would come from it. Like. " You down that bad' might as well eat garbage
I couldn't 5,000 then I can afford a quick trip out of town but the social shame ain't no way
@@makeitmakesense2616 🤣🤣🤣
I love Mother's, been there every time I've visited NOLA, half dozen times or so. You should have got the gumbo or etoufee, their po'boy is also really good. Never went with any of the stuff you ordered lol
Looking like something you get at the family picnic where auntys special canned greens come in handy 😂
We went to Mother’s in 2004 when we visited there. Loved it!
JL's mood is like he wore his brand new Jordans & it rained so hard it ruined it 😂
I wish you had a better experience. Have a blessed day ❤
JL you the man . Much love to you and the family from Orlando!
The Ferdi Special po'boy is 1 of the things Mother's is best known for. I didn't think it measured up with the po'boy selections at Parkway Tavern. Next visit you should try a grilled shrimp po'boy from Guy's po'boys. Ask for Marvin. It's 🔥
You’re right when the juice ,from your sides, doesn’t taste right, that ham had it going on.
Glad You To Enjoying Yourself
The food looks warmed over. Watery looking food normally means canned fare.
If you haven't tried bourbon chicken. It's a must before leaving New Orleans. Great video
Go to Willie Mae’s next for the fried chicken 👌🏾
You hit the nail on the head with the green beans. I don’t like them and never put it together as to why. But when you said school lunch it clicked as to why.
MISS YOU WITH YOUR BOYS! 💯💯💯💯🤷♀️🤦♀️😞
Love your honesty ,not a great way to end your trip.your taste buds were to high.plate looked unappealing .Sotty to end trip on sour note.Been to New Orleans myself and they do hav3 some great foods.Safe travels save some for the next time
Great content as usual
You should review Dakar next time while in NOLA, it's a Senegalese joint that is well-received, hence the reservations and booking being full. Please please please make reservations for this spot way ahead of your next trip.
Love your honesty. Please keep it up!
A person is from the city. Mothers is more of a tourist restaurant have some people from the city that go there it’s more of a tourist or a certain geographic.
@JL JUPITER - Hey, I am a fan from Chicago. JL, if you come here, please step outside of the city, and take a trip to ELK GROVE where you need to visit and try - RAMMY'S SUB CONTRACTORS. They have their own bread baked just beside their store, and offer some fantastic tasting subs and a good variety of Chips that are not very well known. I really like this joint, and I head over there once or so every two weeks(I like variety, ok)..... If you stop over again, or if you stop over, please give them a try. Super awesome place that not many go to eat at....Also, not too far from there, for Pizza, check out MORETTI'S - Skip the Giordanos, the Rosati's, and hit up Aurelio's, Nardi's, Casino's and on and on. Many places in the subs that will outdo the bigger guys in the city. Do try RAMMY'S, however... Great place to have a sandwich.
I never seen this man so disappointed and defeated lmaoooo that food looked like someone's aunt cooked it days ago and is selling leftovers. I dont know why you got only wet sides too but mistakes were learned!
Hey JL & Wife.. Have a blessed one! Enjoy.. 🐞😋🤗
Little Dizzy's Cafe you got to go there
Happy Mother’s Day to my foodie friends ❤😊
Coming from Philly down to NO, I was highly disappointed with the food selections down in the French Quarter. The food outside the tourist spots was not all that either. You do have some gems down there but most if the spots were MID to say the least.. keep on keeping us informed and hungry!!!
I like mothers crawfish etouffee
There probably saving themselves from doing extra dishes and call it a platter lol. Because it probably be best served in individual side dishes. But then it will be just a plate with a few pieces of ham. Plate the ham and rice and beans. Then serve other sides individually. I get you though looks mushed together.
Love the brutal honesty it’s refreshing I trust JL
Whoever suggested Mothers to you wasnt from the NO 😂😂😂
Same reason I wasn’t a fan of green beans (I was thinking just the memory of the snell and taste when I saw them) but I do eat then fresh or frozen w/some smoked meat (not too soft(.
When that food came out, I thought of some generic food that you would get if you were invited to have dinner at your friend's house on a school night... Once you see the food his mom cooked up, you instantly knew to never accept another dinner night at that friend's house. For anyone who has a mother who can cook genuine food from the country that their family is from, you know how good your mother's cooking is and how it completely outshines anything a "domestic" mother can put together. Casseroles, Hamburger helper, canned soups, hotdogs, prepared tacos, veggies from the freezer, and so on can never give a child or even an adult the nutrition or the satisfying taste that a person knows of.
Home made soups from actual stock, Tacos from actual beef and homemade tortillas, Chicken from the over or frying pan with the correct breading and seasonings, as well as hand cut potatoes baked to perfection or lasagna made with hours of prep, PIEROGIES that take a full day to make, Ribs the Cajun way, Shrimp and Crab prepared fresh with the herbs and spices to match, Lamb, DUCK, RABBIT, VENISON, actual chili slow cooked, and so much more.... Those dishes are what fill you up...
This is not one of your best food vids, that is for sure....
Doesn't look like that's it
I've eaten at a lot of places when I visited N.O and mothers was my least favorite. I didn't like their food at all. I almost asked for a refund. It was so bland😢
Change in cooks use to be bomb.
Ya we knew it was over when JL said "I mean it don't look like nothing" covers it in hot sauce before tasting doesn't like green beans orders green beans didn't bother to watch the rest👍
They didn't want the fried seafood to get soggy more than likely.
I always ask "what's your 3 favorite things on the menu that I must order?" It kind of corners them into a more direct answer.
Living in NOLA my whole life, dad had a restaurant down the street from Mother's and I never understood why people go there! I've had better food at my high school's cafeteria.
Every place you have been is a tourist spot.. When you come to the N.O you have to go to the spots outside of the CBD ( Central Business District )
Bro I felt the same way when I was there. I was a little disappointed when I left such a hyped up joint. I wish I got the Ferdi though
I’m still a fan…. of the channel & Mothers. I’ll be having a Ferdi Special this time next week.
Went to Mothers when our rugby team from Newport RI went down to Nola to play their rugby team. We enjoyed Mothers,Nola and the Nola rugby team were great hosts.
You maybe should try each item naked before putting the hot sauce on it. That way, you can honestly give a review on the true taste. Some restaurants have sauces that would make a flip-flop taste delicious. IJS🤷🏽♂️
that looks wonderful!!!
Hey JL think you and your wife should have tried out Dookey Chase ! 😮 The Original Queen of Creole Cuisine 🎉❤!
I have a feeling Jl is having a visit from his aunt flow.
All the juices mixed up! And, school lunch. LOL. Good stuff Big Bro.
Same here..then I have to ask the question in a different way. What sells the best here? But to be honest, I don't ask at Chinese restaurants because they seem to recommend what they need to get rid of and about to expire lol.
I've always wanted to try them I'm glad u posted this I'm good now
I went to this pace in 1990. Remember they were famous for the debris.
The food looks like it has no love in it! It's like an assembly line of buffet food! There is no rich color to it! You guys be safe, you and your family !
I was watching this while still waiting for dinner. It looks good, but maybe minus the string beans they way they are made there. I love the rice and red beans! Your wife's seafood I'll take along with the red beans. So that looks like traditional home cooked New Orleans food to me.
I agree that tha workers should b able 2 tell their customers tha best food 2 get in their restaurants!! C'mon!! That fish platter was looking RIGHT!!!
Facts.. tell me the truth I don't have money to waste lol
What made you order green beans if you don’t like them? I really disliked them in school as well but now I love them. Just have to season them right
I low-key like the green beans from tv dinners 😅
Mothers is for tourists and workers who go at 6am.
Look in the background, the picture of the guy from man VS food. I use to love that show.
The crawfish e'touffee omelet is insane .Best omelete I've eaten!
I dont know but yall but that looks good! I would eat that any day! Especially on cold weathers with a hot meal piled on a plate that to me is comfort food! Plus I dont get to be so guilty eating that much because it’s mostly vegetables.
Mandinas. Tops!
It's called soul food that's why it's touching each other....lol
Right, JL!! I wasn't a fan of Mother's while in New Orleans 😐
the coffee, biscuit and house jelly in the morning
JL all salty from jump in this one lol
Hilarious 😂 I went to this place too! My experience was good. That menu was alot! I did get the seafood platter too. 😋 but I get order anxiety as well. I also agree I hate hearing every is good. 😩😂😂
I did tell you what to get!
Breakfast. You have to go early and get a black ham biscuit (they sell out early it’s the bark, so damn good) and grits with debris gravy, mannnn no you don’t get a platter at Mothers. You ain’t even got cornbread.
Shoulda got a Ferdie. They are famous for the Ferdie it’s shaved ham with roast beef gravy called debris.
Probably one of the only reviews I've seen where you know he's not into it.
JL if u see green beans on ur selection don't order them or ask 4 them on the side. The only vegetable I don't like is okra, I would never allow it on my plate. Sorry the server, said everything was best. Thank u for acknowledging u made bad side choices. You seem tired, remember I commented on a earlier video, I was there for 2 weeks for Mardi Gras and never had a bad meal. 3 days is not enough to enjoy the food, aleast stay a week. Also we went outside of New Orleans to side towns and the locals made us awesome food!!!!🍤🍸🧅🥒🌶
GO TO DEANIES and get a seafood fried AND broiled platter!!
jl your plate looked 🔥...I grew up on ham and smothered cabbage and green beans! Yummy 🤠👍🏾
Yeah, they should've drained those green beans better. Could have made a world of difference. But I respect JL for believing that his subscribers wouldn't steer him wrong. ✌🏼&❤
When anyone hits me with the "everything is good" line i assume they have a pallete where they think boxed mac n' cheese with hot dogs and a Sunny D is good. Lemme' ask someone with culture. 🤦🤷😆
