- Here is my 2017 Road King Special with the Milwaukee Eight (M8) sound comparison and install of my Cobra Neighbor Haters slip on.
I spoke with a Tech from Vance and Hines and he stated to use the Eliminator 400 slip on map for these pipes.

I have the same ones on my 2019 RKS and love them. Stock intake, and stock head pipe and they sound awesome

I put these on my Indian Challenger. I had the Cobra Scallop slip ons. These are a bit louder, but a noticeable deeper throaty tone. What I like about the neighbor haters is that they are not mid life crisis I am compensating for something loud. For me these are perfect.

You couldn’t see my face either when you put the cobra’s on and started it I was smiling ear to ear, just brought a 2020 street glide cvo it’s getting delivered this week I’m going to put same exhaust on hope I don’t get any problems with the running of it shouldn’t do. Best Tony. London uk.
Stock you will have no issues. When I did a cam and then de catted it is when I had low torque in the low rpm range.
I had neighbor haters on my 99 Electra glide and man did it rob it of power. I put on arleness magnaflow slip on and gained a ton of power. Whole different animal now. The neighbor haters are too open of a pipe
Yeah. I had a similar issue with my 17. I had to put lollipops (welded in washers) to help with the low end.
Just ordered a set of these for my 2021 Road King Special after being told my first choice, Rinehart DBX45s are backordered indefinitely. Hoping I made the right call. Good video bro.

I just put mine on my road king the other day, left was easy but that right one to take off was hard as hell.
They get to be a pain after sometime on there.
You can hear the "choofing" sound in the restrictive stock mufflers, absent in the afters. What a beautiful bike, I wish I could afford to replace my 99 RK... which is not to say I don't like her, I love her, but the young fresh one gives me a woody haha.

Looking at these for my soon-to-be-purchased 2018 Ultra Limited. I love the sound of these but don't want to: a) make the stereo useless or b) incur the wrath of my wife who will be sitting directly above the tips. What's your impression of the volume level?
My wife ride occasionally and she has made no comments. At cruising speed that are not too loud.

Pretty sure I am going with a set of these for my 17 RKS thanks to your video. My only gripe? I wish they were just a couple inches longer. I think they would look better poking out just a hair instead of being recessed in between bags and fender.

I agree. I think they're about an inch or two too short. It's a shame, because they're great looking pipes & I would buy a set for my new 2018 Street Glide if they were longer.

Sounds great, you can't go wrong with Cobras and plus the warranty is good. What caught my eyes was the removal of your bags, is it just two screws that hold them up? Seems like you got them off in no time...
Yes. Apparently that is the new design for 17 and up. better that the old clip style Harley had. They screw on and that’s it.

Yes extended bags no other mods at that point.
Thanks for this video! sounds very good! Id' like to put this mufflers on my 2018 street glide special. My question is: If I change only the mufflers, do I need to set the tune of the bike and put new filter too? I'd like to change only the mufflers for a better sound. Thanks in advance!
Tricky questions and the answer will be different every time if you ask 10 people. So here is mine: NO. you can change your mufflers with out tuning, lots of people have and have had great results. The stock system has the ability to adjust for some change with the stock o2 sensors and the stock map. Friend of my just did this exact thing and the bike is running perfect and it sounds great.

No tune required for just slip ons,you won't need that until you swap out the air intake & or cam.

I like the cobra, however money was in my decision. I do like the Vance and Hines on my buddies 14 touring. It’s a Tough choice.....

Warranty, that is tough to answer. I would say no, but Harley might see it another way. I am from AA Co.
I was told if it wasn't the screaming eagle turner being used harley is supposed to void the powertain warranty i guess it would be up to the dealer if they would have your back when it came to a warranty claim
I would say based upon the Magnuson-Moss act it would be based on the exact issue. Also if I had it all over again I would just get the screaming eagle as they do about the same thing, the FP3 just is more user friendly and you can use a phone and not need a whole pc. Which K&N Filter did you add and was the tuner pricey? 😕hmmm....
I used the K and N Filter only as I like the look of the stock filter housing available here amzn.to/2qXSOrD
The tuner I used was the FP3 which is I got for about 290.00 locally. You can get it here amzn.to/2Fdbmtf. Think I might go with the Screaming Eagle tuner next time or the Power vision as more features are available.

I have a 99 Road King that i bought new ..How does it sound with the baffles off.
The clip is the stock cobra baffles. Basically straight through.
Asked it somewhere below, but not you will see the question. Did the fact that they are just a little too short cause any damage to the bags due to the hot gasses?
Greetings! I've yet to hear the Milwaukee 8 motor live. Does it still have the classic Harley sound of the older motors? At the moment I'm saving for my future Road King. Is the new motor loud enough so that cars on the highway hear you before passing them? Thanks & congrats on the new bike!
Does it sound the same = Tough answer as I never owned an older model. Its tough for Harley as they have the EPA and noise laws to comply with. I think it is loud on the highways however I do think that the new mufflers make a huge difference.
Carl Recktenwald Jr. Thanks for the reply! 👍 Yeah I can imagine they have reduced the sound as some states have implemented tougher noise laws. I watched a video where the cops were being jerks to a Harley rider, they had several noise level meters to measure the sound levels. Nevertheless I still want the new Road King! In addition to the slip ons you installed, I'd highly recommend installing a set of Vance & Hines Power Duals. Great stuff!
I saw a video that the power duals actual reduced power (Matt Laidlaw). Never less I agree I think headpipes are next.
I heard if you changed the stock pipes it changes the power of your engine is that true?
If you are talking about just mufflers the gain is not at much as it was with the twin cam. You do get a little more power as the engine can breath better. Fuel moto has dyno charts on there site.
I had cfr pipes with v@h headpipes on my 14 street glide and it was pretty loud but i want i different sound for my 18 but i still want them loud.

I don’t believe so. Did the filter with the cam upgrade.

I did the s and s 475. Nice cam. Power hits a little later in rpm range but overall a good cam.

Are those led brake lights on your license plate? Where did you get them?
Yes they are Led. I got them from auto zone but I have also seen them at Tractor Supply. I have them running into a brake light flasher circuit I made.

They are noticeable on the highway, not super quiet.

Oh. Yes I changed the air filter to the k and n high flow and also I did remap it.
With out the new map the bike ran fine. I just get quicker throttle response. My opinion is that just muffler s and air cleaner a new map / tune is not required.
Are they made of stainless steel?
no. The end caps look like they are just chromed. The rest of the muffler is steel.

Yes. They are made for a specific price. Nice thing is that you get them and then could go with a different pipe in the future.

IDK. I like the sound. Harley has had a lot of pressure from the govt. I will however agree that pipes are a personnel preference.
They sound "tinny" for lack of a better word. I'm running CFR's on my Road Glide Ultra. I honestly don't think they can be topped. I was hopeful of the neighbor haters. Big disappointment in my opinion. Nothing personal.

What you did was basically a stage 1 except you didn’t tune the bike.
I tuned it after the air filter install prior to the slip on. I agree that after the stage 1 a tune should be done.

Nothing like the sound of an older evo with a carb.
Peter Kane fuel injection has nothing to do with the sound.
