Dude 😮 this is what customization should look like. You did a spectacular job putting this together! I also like your playlists, War pulled me right in. Subbing
Thanks for the comment! Though the front fender is only stretched down. Same clearance as the original fender in proximity to where the oil filter is. I can say 100% that it does not block the oil filter. I changed my own oil in August before the end of the riding season, zero issues getting to the oil filter (which sits behind the front of the frame, so way behind the front fender).
@@CheckYourPremises Oh gotcha, and yes you’re correct it does stretch in front of the oil cooler. Luckily 5k later I haven’t had any issues with it overheating. Thanks again, good observation.

My Man, thank you for sharing this video with your loyal subscribers. The video was narrated perfectly and all the upgrades to darkness are absolutely amazing. Hands down one of the most amazing beautiful RK special I’ve seen in New Jersey by far. It’s obvious to all of us that a lot of love and planning went into this awesome build. Amazing build. Exactly my style. I’m working on blacking out my street glide after seeing your videos. I’m in NY about 2 1/2 hrs away. Would be great to meet up sometime. I call my bike dark side.
Did you have any issues with your KW slip on’s coming in contact with the rear SCC guards? I’m still running stock slip ons and already rubbing. Not sure if I should build it up with washers. Thanks man and great video!
You got it already! Great question: Yes I run half-inch spacers between the frame and where the lower part of the guards connect. The spacers keep the guards off of standard size mufflers.
Thanks for the comment Paul. The secret is actually that I’ve had the bike professionally ceramic coated twice since I got it (once in 2019 and again in 2023) keeps the paint looking like glass.
bro!!! So I just got my first Harley, 1989 electra glide. And I always had liked the look of the nighttrain all blacked out look. Your bike is sick!!! I am gonna be buying one part at a time..But what beautiful inspiration !!!
DANG, that bike is fire😳!! I’d be embarrassed for that bike to pull up right next to me at a stop light😂. VERY beautiful. I’m still not sure what I would do to mine. I’m kind of new to motorcycles. My wife just bought me my first bike as a 40th bday present last week. I can’t complain with what I have, which is a 2005 Road King Special. So far, love my bike as it is. I know I’ll do something to her over time. I have a buddy right now that wants to upgrade some stuff on mine. He loves working on bikes and cars. We’ll see what happens. Again, very, very beautiful bike👌🏽
Dakota Digital MLX has been zero problems (3 yrs now). Its plenty bright in the day time (not perfect in super sunny conditions, but good enough). Set up is zero effort (plug & play). The gas gauge gives a % number for the remaining fuel (close to accurate but I go by the Harley flush mount gas indicator most times) 🤟🏽
Yes and it’s not a special type just regular powder coat. The bike is dyno tuned so runs cooler than stock. The powder coat has held up so far (1 full riding season).
Damn brah...bad ass. Just picked up my 2017 Road King special from Cowboy Harley inBeaumont, Texas. Looking forward to tricking her out. Gonna be looking at darkness for some ideas !!!
I am strongly thinking to trade in my 2018 Fat bob 124 S&S big Bore full Legend Suspension around and Club style look. For Road king Special what bike did you drove before the road king ? And are you not disappointed that you did not go for RG or SG ?
I actually came off of a BMW RnineT before this Road King. Night and day difference. Having owned a sportster 1200 in the past I can tell you the Harley touring frame makes this the most comfortable bike I’ve owned. I’ve ridden my friends SGs and RGs and wouldn’t change my bike for either (love not having a fairing).
Brother I don’t know where to start, but that exhaust sound is the best idle sound I’ve heard on any bike. This thing sounds like a NASCAR! You have full duals, no dummy pipe, correct? So the Thundermax, the S&S 550 Cam…any other mods that exhaust partners with to produce that sound? Love that you powder coated those end caps, have not been crazy about a big logo on end caps; would rather keep them guessing. 😂
Thanks but to be 100 percent transparent I recorded the cold start with a Zoom h1n external mic. and I think the gain on the mic might have been accidentally set a little higher than normal but not by a lot. The S&S big bore/higher displacement kit, 550cam and KWs Dominator with performance baffles (tuned w/ Power vision) is the complete list of parts regarding sound. I can tell you the bike is waayyy louder and sounds pissed off/mean compared to stock and even Stage 2. Check out my Bear Mountain ride video for a sound capture of the exhaust with the bike actually running and thanks again bro for the comment!
Bro I’ll check it out. So what bored out head and piston you running? Have you considered KW’s Reducer in your exhaust versus baffles? Ask them about that. Is that S&S Cam a low to mid range cam or a top end cam? OH!!! And how you stretched that front fender yet keeping that Road King style fender, is righteous! I kid you not, I love a 21” tire but always bugged me how than fender doesn’t come down the way it does on the 19” and I’m not crazy about those wrap around fenders. I love the classics RK front fender, although didn’t get a close look at it, but love how you kept that fender shape intact!@@darknessroadking
