I don't know how this guy stays so humble ... The song is just mind-boggling
:)
This is a super old video but I came back to it... and I never thought I'd be able to play it until today! The fact that I learned this in about 15 minutes is proof that you're the best guitar teacher on earth! Thanks for improving my playing so much!
Sheesh thanks Matthew! I'm really really really glad to hear you're pleased with your progress!
“The reason why it’s such a mind.. f.. ... flower..” I fucking laughed so hard on that one
hehehe :)
I’ve been loooking for a tutorial this is perfect man good job!!
hey thanks Arda!
OK!! Awesome. I just learned "Crown of Thorns" from one of your videos and then requested Pearl Jam, then I went to your channel to look-see what you uploaded, and BOOM! Here's a great PJ song that I love. Thanks! I subscribed because I like your taste in music.
Hey right on my dude! I'm glad it was there for you :) Eventually we'll have ALL of them
This is bloody brilliant! Been playing it so differently! Drop D tuning on this song is a revelation! Really enjoying your PJ tutorials!
I'm glad that helped you!
Love it Ryan! This will be a good challenge - thanks for doing what you do!
You're very welcome Chris - thank you for watching and good luck!
Sweet lesson! Thank You Ryan
My pleasure Matt :)
GARDEN!!! YES!!! Thanks for the lesson. I love this song and it is so hard to find any videos for it. Gonna have to work on this one for a little while, kinda tricky. Thanks Ryan!!! The PJ catalog is very impressive. My favorite site for guitar vids!
Thanks Todd :) yes Garden IS very tricky - a bit counterintuitive, brilliant riff. good luck!
I love this song man.....great lesson guitar tutorial .. its clear..
thanks :)
man your videos are so cool, just perfect
thanks 99
nice and simple explanation.... just what i was looking for!!! thanks bro!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
yeehaw! I remember being extra proud of that effort, I'm glad you liked it :)
Yes! Finally! Thank you!
you're welcome!
Someone probably said this already, but instead of putting your finger on the 5th fret on the B string, you can hit the open E. Truly, appreciate all the time you take to give these lessons.
sick! Thanks man, I appreciate it!
You're very welcome :)
Just found this. Thank you so much for nice lesson.
You’re awesome dude, keep it up!
thanks dude :)
Guess what, I’m revisiting this bloody song as I’ve forgotten it again!!!
I shall have to play it regularly to keep it inside my noggin, cheers once again Ryan.
greetings from the past JT!
Cool lesson!!😊😎🤟
thanks zach!
This tripped me out so I have to share... I came upon this video and got super excited bc Garden is my favorite PJ song. I had music playing on pandora in the background as I start watching the video and guess what song was playing.... Spoonman (which you mention at the beginning of the video). 🤯 Great video lesson!
what are the odds! haha
Dude you have to have the best attitude and fun with everything you do !!! I think you should have your own tv channel lol ??? Awesome lessons and I always fill better after watching you !! Keep it up you’re the best lol ???
In a way, isn't this my own TV channel :) What a wonderful thing that ANYBODY can have their own tv show today! Glad to brighten your day Lee, thank YOU for being here!
This is great. Thank you.
most welcome Travis
Been looking for this man... for a loooooong time. Thanks so much. Subscribed. \.../
woo hoo! welcome to the party Greg :)
Ryan Lendt Awesome! Thanks again \.../
And this is genius dude thanks
thanks dude
I tried this around a year ago & it drove me mad but now it came so quick. To make it sound right you have to get the first pull off very clean. Such a great song & lesson
my garden video is very happy to see you again Michael - I'm glad you had success this time! this is the whole crux of my argument - playing ANYTHING makes you better at EVERYTHING
You just motivated me to buy a guitar my next paycheck and learn to play. Thank You Ryan 🙌
Comment of the month Jerm. I was thinking about making a playlist called "your first ten guitar lessons". YOU'VE motivated ME to do so :) Tell me when you get it - I'll start that series then!
@@RyanLendt Dude you Rock!! God Bless Ryan Lendt.
I will let u knowonce i make that purchase . Great Day from Texas
yes please do!
Hey Ryan! Couple of requests for the time being.
1)Stargazer by Mother Love Bone - Don't know if you've heard it but you should. I don't think PJ have covered it but TOTD did it on their recent tour. I also read it in some article that the song was very close to Andy.
2) This one is a doubt. The song Society from Into the Wild has lessons in b minor. In the performance of Ed with Johnny Depp, it's A minor. That's what I can make out from Ed's progression. Can you do a lesson on that performance particularly (even if I'm wrong with the scale). Especially Johnny's solo and some of the dynamics which he uses.
3) This is a silly one. If you, by any chance, have any contact with anyone from Pearl Jam or if you can float the word around, please ask them to tour India.
By the way, keep uploading the videos. You do an awesome job in spreading and teaching the music which has inspired many.
What's up Suhail! You're correct about Society, that is in Am :) I'd be happy to do a video on that... and I think you're the second to request Stargazer so I guess that's coming up soon!
Thank you SO much for your kind words, and for watching and being a part of my little channel. It's an honor to be of help :) Say hello to India for me! (and no, I don't have any contact with anyone from Pearl Jam... YET! haha)
This one is really a mind khm, rollercoaster.. i must have played it at least 50 times before i developed muscle memory. But it's really nice, one of my all-time favorite pearl jams
wow, 50?? that was quick! I still don't think I have it. :)
@@RyanLendt i was suprised myself haha.. i'm guessing it's because i heard this song so many times when i was a teenager
Back relearning songs and loving this now I can play a little better. Still a pain though.... Cheers Ryan
oh good god. this song is bananas. Good on you for your courageous heart JT :)
you're so funny man hahah, crazy
hehe thanks Rooftop :)
Cheers man
cheers Jhett :)
I love it, request to your self haha.
Great video bro thanks.
wow I did this to myself!? thanks Roz :)
killer tele, dude
thanks my dude
Thank you
you're welcome
❤PJ
How did you feel returning to WWE teaming up with The Miz?
it was a hard decision, but I had to do what is best for my family.
@@RyanLendt haha thanks for replying man. This vid was awesome and your an entertaining dude
suggestion: Lou Reed - This Magic Moment
VERY interesting request Brook thank you :)
Great!!! 👌
Thank you sir :)
Sir!? im 16 😂👌
hehe well you're not a ma'am! I know plenty of 16 year old sirs :)
I know it’s frowned upon, but since we’re on the topic of Pearl Jam, have you considered doing some Creed lessons,
Second video of yours I’ve watched now and second one I’ve stuck to
It takes a lot of brass to do a video over a tab because if it isn’t right, you know it’s the person transcribing it that’s at fault. You’ve been spot on so far though. Well done
many thanks josh
It was hugely helpful! I can play it even with my string broken 😂
6 strings is a crutch...
Do you think you could do a lesson on Just Breathe and Guaranteed by Pearl Jam? That'd be amazing, thanks!
ugh guaranteed is the best song ever written!!! Thank you for the requests Jacob I've added them to the list :)
Ryan Lendt thanks a lot 😁
Really nice as always...amazing content and i salut you ..the whole community appreciate all the effort...just one comment...watch the mural club 1991 concert and you will figure out how stone plays the chorus.....cheers mate
What's up Dan - thanks for being classy and thanks for the tip! I'll add checking that out to the list and post an update on Garden - we're all learning :) Is that pic of you or Dave A?
i wish...hehe...it's old dave A on that...Let me add another thing, there's no black intro tutorial 100% accurate...seems simple but it's a trick intro indeed...i think you are the man to solve tis puzzle...:)...cheers
oh but I have, and I did my very best job I could - check it out and see what you think
Please do spoonman!!!
yesssss Alana Dooley comes through!!
How do you not have at least 100k subs
You're here Hayden, that's all that matters :)
Hey Ryan, first of all, I just want to say thanks. Could you maybe do brain of j? Thx man
I've done either Mike or Stone from brain of J - I don't remember!
Ryan Lendt yeah, I think you did mike's, but I would really appreciate if you could do stones part too. Again, thanks for all the vids.
Also thanks for replying to me even though this video was released in 2017. 👍
Is Garden played in Drop D here ? You didnt say I dont think. TY
I'd be flabbergasted if I didn't - but either way, yes I do believe so
Ryan can you please do lesson for Leatherma and breath
I'm pretty sure I've done a video on both of those, and I'm pretty sure I need to redo Breath...
@@RyanLendt thank u will check
Can u do thorn tree in the garden by Eric Clapton
interesting request bass master thank you :)
I love you
i love you too
Mind flower... I'm stealing that phrase for work... lol
oh hehe yeah like mindF that took me a minute!
thks
you're welcome
What tuning is this in?
I think he’s playing it in drop D.
Yes to Spoonman!!!
ua-cam.com/video/X3694lEXYj0/v-deo.html ;)
OK, got it. Awesome.
Seems a lot easier to play the intro at the 2nd fret?
you do you Mark :)
@@RyanLendt Best part of playing right!? Can't wait for April 4th!
coul you play street fighting man by the rolling stones
someday we simply must get into the stones - thanks for the request atticus
Please do Tom petty’s “U get me high” from his latest album, and last sadly
thanks for the TP request B :)
Yea I am an Europian guy that had a major problem with string or else tone name it self. B = H
This war will never stop hahaha
WOW! thank you for chiming in Dz!
Well this is going to be harder to learn than it sounds
i agree with that statement.
Jesus, I agree, it's backwards as hell. I'm going to sleep to process it subconsciously, cuz I was almost there, and now I'm fucking up the first 4 notes repeatedly.
yep. going to sleep and waking back up is an important ingredient for success in matters such as these :)
You mean the A string. 1:45
hehe sorry Neilson :)
Spoonman Spoonman Spoonman Spoonman Spoonman Spoonman Spoonman Spoonman
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ua-cam.com/video/X3694lEXYj0/v-deo.html
I can barely play an open C, why am I even bothering with this?
:)
Cool, love this tune. Ed introduced it as 'Garden of Stone' on the pearl jam 20 movie/cd....wonder if that was at Stones request? :) Thanks again for Animal, I keep trying that riff, and as simple as it looks, its still a beast. If you watch the first time they played Animal live on MTV Stone makes it look so easy! Check the link at 1:14 ua-cam.com/video/MUUJA-MXhrE/v-deo.html. Also how can you distinguish betwwen a stone part and a Mike/Ed part? I think I can recognise Stones touch on songs but I never know if its him or mike doing the lead....unless mike is doing his Jimi bit then it's deffo him! :) Do you like the song 'Go'? that might be tough to learn? How about showing us Release, that is meant to be ok to learn. Keep up the good work buddy.
Or maybe Garden of Stone was a joke of sorts :) I mean, ok... so Mike's yield contributions were uncharacteristic as usually Mike tends to write with open chords, whereas Ed tends to write like he plays the thing in his hands fantastically well but may or may not know what he's doing the way the rest of the world knows what he's doing (that tends to be the way I write as well. I get the feeling isaac Brock of modest mouse plays that way too) take letterman for example, one shape that moves up and down, and not for you... same deal. Stone's riffs tend to be something that nobody else on earth would think about for any reason, take Rival, it's not fast or hard, but you learn how to play it and you go WTF how did he come up with that? Stone is also most likely to write in an alternate tuning or play out of scale notes in his riffs. One reason I like seeing Brad (stone's other band) live is, apart from the fact that you can do it in a dive bar and be one of thirty people there, you can experience stone riffs, usually the transitions, unfiltered by Pearl Jam. I don't know how much of an answer that is, but those are some of my thoughts :)
Cheers for the reply! :) Yeah I love brad too and was lucky enough to see them in London a while back. Check UA-cam for bits of that show. Stone is an awesome guitar player. Footsteps is another great video of yours. Keep up the good work buddy.
Thanks J :) Rock on!
Ryan Lendt Would love a Rival video sometime!
As your brain grows or whatever happens hilarious :)
I remember being fascinated with wanting to know how one's brain changes while learning a knew thing around the time of this video :) I spoke to some neurologists, and have tabled that quest for now having received no insight whatsoever.
Try, leave , think about it .. wake up eat, dose play everyday then a year from now it’s under ur fingers… here goes
that's exactly it
Jesus Christ the A string you keep calling D. Fucking my mind!
It's like a puzzle. to make sure you really want it :) (but really - sorry about that!)
Hey it's still the best tutorial on this song I've seen yet. Lol
Thx bro
hehe well I'm glad to hear that - thank you for watching!
How about nothing as it seems?
already done it mate :)
Lmao... mind.... flower..... cos its garden, right? 😂
i didn't even think of that!!
Lol mind.....flower
:P
I’m sorry but you need a closer view of the guitar I cant really see what your doing
that's why i talk so much. hehe
Poda dei
carpe diem
Thanks for the effort but the lesson is incomplete. You need to be able to play the riff in time with rhythm. The notes are half the music, rhythm is the other 50 percent. Actually the notes are also a bit incomplete.
good thing it's free :)
Ryan Lendt yeah, and good thing the other guitarist's video who spent the time to learn it correctly is also free.
Ijm
horrible
nothing to be embarrassed about, I sometimes go by my maiden name...
Holy shit! That verse is Def is hard to comprehend hahahaha. I still play it in standard tuning. The shitty ass way I always played it hahaha
