  • This live demo shares the experience of a participant enrolled in the PRIME Study. The PRIME Study - an investigational medical device trial for our fully implantable, wireless brain-computer interface (BCI) - aims to evaluate the safety of our implant and surgical robot, and assess the initial functionality of our BCI for enabling people with quadriplegia to control external devices with their thoughts. We do not guarantee any benefit by participating in the PRIME Study.

Twitch stream is actually super good idea. I'm guessing the interest would wane off after a while, but still. He could make a decent buck, answer more questions about implant, how it changed his day to day life + he seems quite charismatic, so that wouldn't be just "wow, this is the Neuralink guy!".
The only thing standing in the way is that Neuralink probably doesn't want him to share more info with the public without consulting them first.

The Brain Impulse that makes his hands move doesnt connect to the nerves which power the movement because the nerve is disconnected. But the impulse is being read by neuralink, if he wants to move his right hand a certain way, that impulse is translated onto the curser on screen.

I don't know anything about their technology, but based on my experience, i'm assuming that they are doing machine learning on the spectral analysis of the signal, so all the present frequency, and there the two thoughts should be separate. It’s a shame that Neuralink’s progress isn’t shared more on the news.
One of the things that Elon shared during an interview and may blow people’s minds is besides all of the amazing improvements medically, those who choose to get the chip will be able to communicate without speaking a single word. Not only that but the rate at which we communicate and receive information will be the equivalent of the scene in The Matrix when Neo is hooked up to the main frame and learns every language, every fighting genre in a matter of minutes. This will most certainly advance our human capabilities in every way. ELON MUSK IS A GENIUS and he is what should give every human tremendous hope for our futures!

Once these things can input information, and not just output it, it will be _de facto_ obligatory in the same way that having a smartphone is nowadays. Anybody who doesn't will be economically outcompeted. When people are desperate to keep up, it not only causes them to abandon other important things; it gives corporations and governments enormous power.
Ultimately, it will conclude with either everyone becoming slaves to the entity that controls the technology, or by us losing consciousness (as Nick Bostrom warns about) as we replace more and more of our brain to maintain our competitiveness.

Seek the Lord Jesus Christ while he may be found everyone. Be Holy as God is Holy everyone.Sin shortens life, because of our sins we are separated from God. Everyone have an expiration date and this world have an expiration date. There is nothing in this world worth going to hellfire for, depart from worldliness everyone. It's NOT about religion/denomination, it's about a relationship with Jesus Christ by praying everyday, reading the Bible everyday, believe the gospel, While you are still alive repent of all of your sins and be born again. Rapture is imminent, do not be left behind. Jesus Christ is coming back everyone, get yourselves ready. This WORLD is TEMPORARY and HEAVEN is PERMANENT, Choose wisely everyone.,

This is beautiful and I am so happy for Nolan! This is an entirely new chapter in medicine and it's because of people who have the courage to be a part of this.
How far are we from being able to control devices to help him with moving around without human assistance?
It would be life changing if he could send instructions to a robot of some sort that can lift whatever is needed, whether that's a humanoid robot or otherwise, possibly assisted by AI.

Actually this tech has existed since at least 2002. There was a study published by Brown University that year titled "Researchers Demonstrate Direct, Real-Time Brain Control Of Computer Cursor" where they accomplished exactly what's shown here

@@Organelles Well if you want to get down to form factor, researchers at Brown University went on to create a wireless version like this one that was unveiled in 2013. So it's already been demonstrated to work. Not saying it isn't cool... it's absolutely nuts that it exists

This tech has existed since at least 2002, so far Neuralink has just been building off of preexisting research. Can't post links here but if you search "Researchers Demonstrate Direct, Real-Time Brain Control Of Computer Cursor" you'll find a study from 2002 where they achieved exactly what's shown here
