At first, I was thinking it would be one of those dark and empty horror games..but it isn’t. It’s more comforting and interesting rather than the horror games we got lately. No possessed animatronics, no psychotic demons, no plagues, no demented children, no hellish curses; it’s just a game about recollecting yourself.
I like how when he helps a puppet he talks like hes in one of those moments when they’re teaching the kids about something important while also it reflecting gordons life and how it’s helping him overcome his own struggles
Here’s something funny, in that moment where that one puppet suddenly multiplies, that was a unintended glitch that the creator actually enjoyed so much, they left it in. Funny to see it still in to this day.
@@SgtLemon1 I was genuinely was surprised because I’m a old school resident evil fan. I know this game came out but I hope they could keep the franchise and game going.
@@SgtLemon1 I will say this: they’re clearly in pain. Letting them live is a merciful gesture, but putting them out of their misery is also something out of both self defense and mercy. Screws with your feelings
Its interesting to note that he doesn't mention being fired when he helps the puppets but chooses to stop coming in on certain parts of the day. But in the true ending he does get fired... probably because his boss see's that he is going to actually succeed in the show and doesn't want that. Where as before if you dont help everyone the boss likely sees it flopping and failing so doesn't bother with firing you, knowing you'll crawl your way back. Its also a really nice touch that they added in the cutscenes for the show where if you help pearl she will either have her eyes or not. Or if you help Ray or not he'll be either carefully looking at what he is working on or banging it. Not sure if much changes with the dog scene though.
It actually feels comforting for him to help the puppets with their own shortcomings, normally in a horror you wouldn't think even once about trying to better understand them, and either try to get back at them when their vulnerable, or get away.
I only found out the game came out today, and I gotta say I LOVE a system that shows kindness and compassion like this game. I mean they even emphasized how the weapons are not lethal. I think that the premise of darkness needing a little light should be explored more in games we are so used to pessimistic outcomes… when just one like this makes me smile ear to ear
I like this take. No possessed machines, no awful experiments, no demonic origins, and no merchandise from the start it, and you help them. A really nice change of pace but unfortunately I don’t see it really picking compared to the others. However I really hope it becomes successful enough for a sequels because it’s really wholesome helping those puppets
True Ending requirements : 1. Give Pearl her glasses & eyes back. 2. Play the Movie for Goblette and sympathize for her. 3. Feeding the Dogs. 4. Help Ray fix the drain pipe. 5. Playing the Tune for Arnold. 6. Accept Ricky's offer to run MFN Studio.
25:41 I like to think that it is a kind of meta commentary of how many of the expected players want very violent and pessimistic things instead of looking for more lighthearted and calm things.
Personally, hope this game gets a "Director's Cut" treatment. Game feels just a tad short for the ideas it had, could've at least expanded that pirate cove level, or added a "Christmas Carol" stage set piece to give just a tad more expansion, but otherwise I feel it set out what it wanted to show in its concept.
My friendly neighbour remains at the top of this new ‘mascot horror’ phase the industry is going through imo. It may not be the scariest, but all these games deal with the monsters being abandoned and growing rageful. MFN is the only one that earns it, because it relates back to the protagonist. Both Gordon and the puppets are without purpose, meaninglessly holding on to any semblance of normality they can muster. By the end they are able to build something new for each other, healing past wounds and gaining new purpose together.
This game's a lot more benign than most mascot horror games out there: the reason behind the mascots' actions, the ending, everything. Even the credits song is nice to hear, like everything's back to normal, just as a happy ending should be. I also like to think that Gordon's boss fired him because they wanted him to keep working on the show, seeing how much happier he is than being a handyman.
I did that on purpose! If you have your pistol on you it will spend one ammo, so I thought if I take it all off maybe the cutscene would be different... and well it kinda was. Fits into my peaceful ending though!
22:35 you know the things that Ricky said is much sums up how modern day Hollywood be like these days. Especially with Disney and Warner Bros only caring about the money in their bank account.
Given the context of global events in 2024, the ending hits harder than it has any right to. Thank you to John Szymanski and the entire dev team for making such a charming game
Well this is interesting. Having to fight muppets😂. I think it could’ve been a little better. Like not taking damage so easily! And Rick the sock sure is interesting😁. And shooting that piano muppet. But how the hell were they all alive!?
@@CalvinNoire Yeah, Most games have the same "Oooh, The puppets were possessed by children, or by evil experiments!" plot. But the idea that these things just live amongst human kind like The Muppets is an absolutely stellar idea!!!
I hate throwing shade like this, the game was good and seeing the characters was cool but, it seemed so empty, it feels like this was all like a big Chapter 1 and we are still missing three more, of now let’s go back 10 years on the day of the shutdown and start locking up rooms with the original boss saying his goodbyes and now having to escape as they don’t want you to leave, or we skip ahead a few years with the true ending and now we scraping enough money together with the deals to renovate the building kinda pulling a fnaf 6 and as you rebuild you find forgotten prototype puppets and find out the truth of how they gain life.
@@Autistic_Pixel still a good game, much better then anything that I have ever made but that’s not saying much, it’s like they had a really cool base idea for the game with the characters and the simple story behind it, but just it still feels so empty for example what was with mini set for the pirates, why did it have a chain gun, why not a cool sword or more plot?
I feel like the game isnt trying to have in depth lore or anything like that. You just play it once, have an enjoyable story with conclusion, and then put it.
