Hyper Light Breaker | New Gameplay Today
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 бер 2024
- Hyper Light Breaker is not a sequel to Hyper Light Drifter in the traditional sense, but it does take place in the same world, which is all we needed to hear to be excited. While this isn't gameplay footage of us playing the game, Kyle Hilliard did get a chance to play the game recently, so Marcus Stewart and he decided to get together and chat about his time playing the game.
Hyper Light Breaker is entering early access on PC some time this year.

there's something very wholesome about seeing the same "interact" icon from hyper light drifter. crazy to see familiar enemies in 3d. man i'm so hyped for this game!
gameplay looks promising , will keep an eye on this .
Okay!! I feel much much better now. I was really worried about yhe combat system, but we're drifting, we're slashing, and we're shooting. So im relieved
I want to be able to play as the drifter with infinite chain dashes XD
I hope they create a dynamic camera that zooms out during combat. It would be kinda interesting if they retained some of the isometric vibes
Ye I’m mildly worried about the low close camera angle
what a stupid thing to say... "i hope they make a mechanic that completely changes this game"... just say you don't like it and move on
@@radikalbeats probably should speak on topics you don't have clear interpretation on, nor should you speak for others when you don't understand the topic. This is a design discussion, not a gameplay mechanic that should change.
That would be very interesting.
I hope thought that it won't become like pokemon where when you encounter an enemy everything stops...
@@urban_ghost_5226 nada, I'm think a subtle zoom out with the camera. Just to capture more action on screen and gauge spacing. Similar to the Batman Arkham games.
Nice
i love this artstyle sm
Nice 👌🏽 I hope it’ll be on a platform I have, once it comes out.
Hey! Big fan of your synth tutorials. - Alex
I am so excited for what heart machine is doing with this! It looks fantastic!
Doesn't look bad. The dodge feels kinda slow though... really mixed on this one
Well this is the pre alpha version
In drifter you needed an upgrade to multidrift. You also needed to learn the rhythm to successfully multidrift.
Its one of the things i love about drifter, the game never does stuff for you. You are fully in control
@@KP_Uravity I'm not a fan of core upgrades being locked behind a skill tree. Especially when the game otherwise suffers without it
@@thacoolest13 its not a skill tree its more like stat leveling
But you can very feasibly beat the game without multi drift.
Looking solid!
Looks really good. I am sort worried about the 3d exploration. It could be a good idea and an interesting way to explore the world. However, in HLD many places that
I went to explore was some big landscape, for example, when in the northern region you would see a giant corpse in the distance, I thought that was really cool, imagine my surprise when I actually found it and got up close, that was super cool. Now with 3d and less limited exploration, such discoveries won’t really happen because you know you can go to that giant sword in the distance. I know that it may just be a niche me-issue, but I am worried that won’t really happen, and exploring will be slightly less interesting and surprising.
Still excited tho.
Honestly agreed. The moment you realized you were AT that place in the distance felt so good in the kind of game where that doesn't usually happen.
release ?
The okay 3D visuals don't appeal as much to me as the gorgeous pixel design, which also applies for the movement and basic animation.
Well, they’re trying something new
They tried smth new with solar ash and it was a lot better, both visually and in terms of the flow.
3D art can’t replace great pixel art, but I think the style transfers well to 3D. I will say you’re right about movement, particularly the dash. Doesn’t feel anywhere near as snappy and quick as it does in Drifter. And I think it’s more so an animation issue than the actual speed of it
I really hope this gets a console release.
I loved Hyperlight Drifter. When I first played it I was like this game is so boring. But then I decided to actually invest into the game and world around me and fell in love with it so much. I got better and the game was just a blast to explore, fight, and just be in. The backstory of the creation made it so much more lovable. I hope hyper light breaker is built with the same passion, im so excited to play!
Hyper light drifter flashy combat and flashy moves are what made it special. This game looks nice, but is nowhere near the flashiness the drifter had.. camera is too close
And the game is opening in early access, so there's good hope. Take trail makers for instance and how it started out in early access. Games can change A LOT in that time.
@@theoneandonlyskrubz idk changing the camera view is a massive change that affects all aspects of the gameplay experience things like what renders in screen, performance, unexpected bugs from changing the camera zooms occasionally..I highly doubt they'd change that now
@@orangelimesky I know, but I have seen cases of games changing that much from early access. It would probably be in early access for a long time, but from the amount of games that make these changes in early access are quite impressive. It's not guaranteed, but it's possible that it might change in the game.
(Also they might add a zoom in/out mode like Mario 64.)
@@theoneandonlyskrubz Heart machine isn't Nintendo 😅
3:49 Visual bug? Looks like he's supposed to be swinging a two-handed greatsword or hammer.
It's pre-alpha footage; they'll sort that out.
Yeah, they've shown a hammer that swings like that before.
@@heartsockette Cool. I want to see more of the weapons we can use other than the katana and the daggers.
@@dragomango992There’s also like a really big sword
There's also a rapier I'm pretty sure.
Cool game. Cool video. Cool dudes.
Hey thanks!
It’s like mix between warframe and risk of rain 2
Just because sbi help working on this game doesn’t mean it’s going to be shit
Devs stated they stopped working with SBI over a year ago anyways, unfortunately some people around here don't see to get the message
seems like it'll probably be a pretty good game, but nothing deeply special like HLD. and lol I just hate how fortnite and genshin have now forever poisoned the aesthetic of colorful 3D games.
Im going crazy, i can't wait
LOVED hyper light drifter. This looks generic. Where is the frantic fast gameplay and dodge mechanics? It just looks meh…
I'm sure it'll become more flashy and epic once it moves through early access.
Character combat movement looks too slow. The dash is like walking speed, and they even showcased how ineffective it is by getting hit by a projectile in the middle of it. I can see people forgoing the normal dash entirely in favor of the "combat" dash, which at that point, why even have two?
Dark souls has a dodge with similar speed and distance, but it's still very good. I think the enemies are catered to that dodge length. And besides, this is pre alpha footage, and it might be changed.
always always a fan of that intro jingle
I personally feel that the game has sort of lost its charm compared to hyperlight drifter. Looks too much like every other 3rd person hack and slash.
So the game has no hud then
It does, they've shown it in other places before
@@heartsockette Where?
HUDs are disabled in most trailers for most games.
@@theoneandonlyskrubz That's fucking annoying
@@57Folhinha I totally agree, but I guess that's just the trailer standard. Or it's because they don't want to reveal the character's full moveset, as it's usually displayed in the HUD.
This is one of the first games to be known to be working with Sweet Baby Inc. Just a heads up.
They ended their partnership a year ago
Devs have stated they are no longer working with SBI, and have not done so for over a year
SBI ALERT!
Devs have stated they are no longer working with SBI, and have not done so for over a year
this looks so mediocre, it's missing all of the speed and snappy animations of the first game
Looks bad, hyper light drifter was different, this looks done using a template.
This is a sweet baby inc game just so you guys know.
Devs have stated they are no longer working with SBI, and have not done so for over a year
@@ClearwaterUK ok so they did initially and when they finished their dirty work they went on to another project. . .you dont need to be on a project for its entire life cycle to ruin it.
@@gamedrop3262 Devs have stated on the Steam forums that they rejected the consultation work SBI did for them and returned to doing storytelling and character building all in-house
@@ClearwaterUKconsulting does not take the entire process of making a video game. It's a one-time thing and the damage has been done.
@@gamedrop3262chill out. you sound tight-wienered
I'm not going to lie, I think this game is too similar to Risk of Rain, I'm not saying it's going to be bad, but I expected something else.
This game, visually, yes I can see that, but you can't sit here and tell me this gameplay is similar in any fashion because its not
It's similar because it's a jump from 2D to 3D, has a fairly similar art style, and is a roguelike, but the similarities really end there.
Its not even close to a roguelike @@heartsockette
@@ol-Sean-loRoguelite, i guess.
I thought that at first but on learning more I don’t think that at all
It’s like Hyper Light Drifter except the world outside the hub changes each time u die and u overtime unlock quicker ways of traversing it and u have to do a few certain things without dying to keep story/campaign/boss progress
I feel a bit conflicted about this title to be honest. It does look amazing and I do want to support Heart Machine as an amazing indie developer. But I can't go into this title with good faith knowing that Sweet Baby Inc served as a consultant on the game.
I'm so torn about this, because this does look like it could be amazing.
Devs have stated they are no longer working with SBI, and have not done so for over a year
They aren't working together anymore
SBI game hope they don't destroyed it.
Devs have stated they are no longer working with SBI, and have not done so for over a year
looks nice. too bad it's creators collaborate with racists from sweet baby inc
Devs have stated they are no longer working with SBI, and have not done so for over a year
@@ClearwaterUKI didn't know that. In that case I take no issue with this game and most likely will try it at some point
Will buy 10 copies to make up for those bigots. They looks bluetiful and brave... Imagine checking the ingredients before buying something, imagine factoring in your preferences in your gaming choices... Peek bigotry.
tbf... most people should probably check the ingredients before they buy something. Most people should check reviews. Most people should do more to not support things they don't want to support. Most people also don't like to see politics injected into their past times... Most people atleast.
Dumbest shit I've read today lol. Explain where the bigotry lies (you cant, you probably can't even define it without google)
They should stick with 2d. Looks generic sadly.
Fortunately generic isn’t really a bad thing on its own
Also some of the 3D art in the game looks very nice and not-generic, and the 3D art in Solar Ash does too
I’m gonna guess a big reason they moved from 2D is because Hyper Light Drifter looks like they hand drew every tiny part of the world pixel by pixel without using tiles or assets or copy and pasting, probably because the Kickstarter did so insanely well and because Alyx wanted to make at least 1 very special game before he died, but it probably took too much time and effort to achieve that look to be worth doing again, like HLD’s visuals were being worked on for 5 years which is looong for an 8 hour long pixel game
But I know what u mean it doesn’t look as pretty and fluid as Hyper Light Drifter, but I’m ok if a game never tops that, there has to be some games that can’t be topped
Doesn't look generic at all.
This is a SweetBaby Inc game, DO NOT BUY!
Dude… They helped out with the earlier parts of development.
@@DrWellRound It doesn't matter they have been added to the Baby Inc Detected Group. Their sales will suffer. Remember, you vote with your money! I will never accept anything woke, ever!
run of the mill low budget botw copy with sweet baby mixed in. doa and i hope this studio closes forever
Devs have stated they are no longer working with SBI, and have not done so for over a year
Dude, relax.
