I travelled to Pakistan in December 2012. During that 3-day trip, I flew 8 sectors across the whole country on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). It was an epic adventure to see Pakistan by air.
This is a trip report of flying on PIA A310, B777, ATR-42 and B747-300 in Pakistan. Every flight has a story to tell.
Not just aviation, I also got to visit Karachi, Islamabad, Gilgit and Lahore. I saw the country first hand, which has often been negatively portrayed in the media. I saw the vast beauty of the Northern region of Pakistan, the great hospitality of the people to foreigners along with the amazing food and culture. I had a great time in Pakistan and I am hoping to go back soon.
As you can tell the footage were very old (2012) and I wasn't a vlogger back then, so please bear with me on the lower quality of this video. I believe this is an interesting aviation adventure to share with you.
Yeah we understand Sam! The real entertainment is the way you narrate it!
Sir, Sam we are waiting for your New vlog on PIA.
No worries bro,,,it was epic

Brings back memories for me. My father was in the USMC, and we were stationed in Karachi, Pakistan back in 1985 and early 1986. Flew on Pan Am heading there. We stayed at the Holiday Inn near the American Consulate. Great food served there! I ran track at Karachi International School as a 3rd grader, and our track team made it to the finals getting an opportunity to compete in Lahore. Beautiful place! I'm 44 now, and can still visualize to this very day getting on a PIA airliner. I recall eating a nice warm meal, that my have been goat meat with gravy. The Karachi airport looks so much different now compared to back then. When it was time for us to leave Pakistan, boarded back on another Pan Am 747 back to JFK. Sam is dead on accurate about the Pakistani people. Being American, I had my Pakistani friends from school come over for a big birthday party of mine in the house we lived in. They loved American food my mom cooked. We never served hot dogs or any other type of pork. I missed the goat meat, chicken tikka, curry, bread, and all that good stuff!
Unfortunately, Only those know it who have ever been here. Otherwise, what the western media says about us is totally different. I hope the world would soon know the truth.
Lots of love from another Pakistani guy. Wish to see you back in Karachi.
@@srzaidi858 I also miss those outdoor meat and fruit markets to! Being one of the few African Americans going to KIS at the time, I was treated with much respect and so were my parents by the Pakistani people and community. Again, had many friends. I absolutely agree with you 100%, many people in the West view Pakistan differently due to the media. I still tell many friends to this very day, Pakistanis are very kind, very respectful, very helpful, and beautiful people. I've learned a lot about the culture, country, language, and religion being there for that period of time. Out of all places we lived, Pakistan is one I'll never ever forget. It would be neat to go back to Karachi and see the changes since the 80s. I do know KIS still looks the same looking at pictures online.
@@marvin7533 Well, i wish i would be the first to welcome you at the airport. however, as far as you talk about the changes, so, Yes! it has changed a lot. And i do mean a lot, in both pleasant and unpleasant manner as any other South-Asian city of this size.
You should visit again Pakistan in present now Pakistan is more beautiful than your think. You will enjoy here. Lots of Love from Pakistan 💕🇵🇰💕
wow ~~ what a reminder of Pan Am -- at John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 3, also known by the trademarked name Worldport, was an airport terminal built by Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) in 1960. Once the greatest airline Pan Am become history in 1991.
When I was based in Dubai I visited Pakistan over 20 times and I remember the passengers with the huge luggage parcels. I thought I had heavy luggage as I i had my work clothes plus tools but it was nothing compared these guys. I stayed at the Islamabad Marriot one time and I remember getting upgraded one night and I ended up in the presidential suite for 2 nights. That explosion you mentioned took place shortly after my visit. I was disapointed I never made to the far north and the mountains. Another thing I remember was how insanely busy. Karachi airport was when the Mecca piclarmage was on. My main destination was Sukher in Sind provence and I went to Baluchestan one time. Another memory was once I had shingles and was in a lot of pain. My Pakistani work colleague very kindly took me round most of the hospitals in Karachi until we found a doctor who could treat me. Like you I was totally impressed with the kindness of the people.
Iam from Sukkur Sindh
@@syedarifali532 hello Syed. It was the oilfields in that area I was working. I only ever visited the airport in Sukhur except on one occasion when we drove from Karachi. I hope you are keeping safe and well in these difficult times

Love Pakistan, I spent time in Karachi years back for work. It's very true how well they treat you. I was treated like a king and I'm just some Aussie bloke working in IT, certainly no better than anyone else. The people were so friendly, nice and hospitable. And I also agree that the food was great.
you will always be welcome here in Pakistan
Hi. I'm Indian, I'm 13 at the time of writing. My parents are very very racist towards Pakistanis and I just want to let you know, although there aren't many, but there are still Indians like me who love you all!!!

This was a very heartwarming video. So many of us have misconceptions about certain countries due to negative press. That is one of the reasons why I would love to visit Iran. Watching this vlog, I see the entire story of Pakistan here (being a Pakistani myself).
- Beautiful places, serene mountains, and tourist heaven.
- Great people, great food, and excellent hospitality.
- The pilots and crew got much better food than the passengers...who actually pay for all this. The story of abusing power, the privileged class, and why Pakistan remains an impoverished country and PIA a third rate airline for its non-VIP passengers.

I don’t remember the exact name of the hotel I stayed in but it was something like beach luxurious hotel or something. After some work I went to a nearby restaurant with my partner when the angry manager at the restaurant came and started shouting at us that we don’t serve white Americans. We repeatedly told him we were from Austria he said “Australia” is even worse. We had to explain to him that were from Austria but apparently he had never heard of it.
