Congratulations for good taste in music, I'm from Portugal and I am listening JJ Cale for a long time now I am 2 years older than you, hope I listen his music until the end😅
Absolutely one of a kind.. so very grateful to have found him early in my life.. sustained me all through the ups and downs till right now 2024 when I reflect on my life approaching 70
My wife and I saw JJ in ‘78 at the Roxy in Greenville. The haunting sounds of Cajun Moon and Magnolia stuck in my head for years. I knew we had witnessed greatness.
I'm so glad I got to see JJ Cale live, after he had released his album Grasshopper. A club in Virginia Beach, Virginia called Rogues. I'll never forget it!!
Smoothest left hand I ever saw. RIP JJ. Another of my Top Ten concerts/nights. A snowy night in January '77. A little bar in Blowing Rock, NC called PB Scotts, that was a three level, geodesic dome. (saw a bunch of good acts there, BB King, Nighthawks, Papa John Creech, ...) JJ was touring Troubador and played almost 3 hours. Came out to almost blizzard conditions and 6 inches of fresh snow. All hotels full with stranded folks. Got laid in the backseat of a VW in the parking lot of a Holiday Inn in Banner Elk, NC. 41 freakin years ago ::sigh::
This heavy version of “Cajun Moon” is fabulous. The fluidity, originality, and energy of the solo on the old blues classic “Got My Mojo Workin’” at 6:43 are just stunning. If you want to know why Clapton thought so highly of him as a guitarist, check it out.
Thanks for this, my wife and I saw him in Vancouver in 1981 at the Commodore Ballroom. Stage persona just like you see here. One step up to the mike, announce the song, one step back and play ... like nobody else. We're in the background about 8:30
sometimes we don't recognize the genius till they are gone. his music always spoke to me. i didn' t eric clapton playing after midnight to know that was jj. ahead of the curve. don't be afraid to say this person today is great even though its flavor of the week. stick with it. find new finds ,enjoy them. you'll be the one that people go you got this early you know your stuff.
I only saw this fellow once at Massey Hall in TO That night he was very shy lol Hid behind a speaker stack or didn’t face the crowd Love the laid back licks.
unfortunately no, I was able to record this off television & I'm sure there is more of this concert, there would HAVE to be but these five songs, the last song was cut short due to the automatic shut down on video recorder as it was about 5 a.m. I believe & I was asleep. If I get more I will for sure place it on my Channel. Have you seen this footage before?
He apparently didn't like the sound of his own vocals and would lower mic levels during recording sessions, And would get into heated arguments with the record producers finding out they altered the levels in post.
I got this off of tv here in Australia this is the ONLY recording of this that I know of as it was done here many years ago now! Glad you like < ; ^ })
Im 55 living in Perth Western Australia... Been listening to JJ CALE since primary school... Its now 2023...still love the music 🎶🛸

It’s not that unique. Hundreds of singers song writers make similar music.
Saw him in Vancouver in late 70's at QE Theatre. Awesome show. Great vid !

-Welcome to my group on FB " JJ. Cale...-Maestro of laid-back music
Enjoy
👍👍👍
The definition of cool
👌
It seems like he is forgetting to sing sometimes. The guitar playing is unbelievable!
He apparently didn't like the sound of his own vocals and would lower mic levels during recording sessions, And would get into heated arguments with the record producers finding out they altered the levels in post.
J.j Cale wants us to be moving around with a smile and a wink for every woman with a sexy looking smile
Best version of Crazy Mama I've ever heard! Would you post the rest of it, please?
That doesn't look like the Birmingham mobile to me. My heart goes out to Christine Lakeland. Rest in peace. What a loss
😍😎👤
Interesting watching him play with a pick....
Don't Cry Sister, Thirteen Days, Same Old Blues, Crazy Mama, Cajun Moon, etc, etc. The nickle or a dime part in guitar to change sound. Magical
Tony... do you have the full concert - would love it my friend..-and all the others in the group( incl. many of his band members;-)
just put on you tube jj cale and company 1981 and you will get the full concert of 29 minutes
I've seen that rage logo on a bill withers song too! What's that about?
I Don't know but may we credit John Weldon Cale with helping steer Mr Capton to utilizing the Stratocasters?
Guitar players that come here for Cajun Moon. Its, F, Bb, C, Bb, G#, F and repeat. The solo is in F. Nobody has it right on the tab websites.
Why the ending of crazy mama was has cut ..
Dude recording passed out! lol its up in the details
Anthony Johanson I'd love to know that!
Nick Lowe introducing!
Was this filmed at the WOW Hall in Eugene?
Loved Rock Arena the music was awesome for the stoners LOL
