- JJ Cale - John Weldon Cale- Grammy Award Winning Singer-Songwriter (Dec. 5, 1938 - July 26, 2013) We get to see JJ Cale at two different venues in the year of 1981 in the month of June. Lies, was performed June 17,1981 in Victoria, B.C. Canada and Cocaine was performed at Peta Luma,CA. USA on June 4,1981.
Neil Young said about JJ Cale, that out of ALL the Musician's he heard play electric guitar, JJ Cale & Jimi Hendrix were the best!
JJ was given the "JJ' by Elmer Valentine, Owner of Whiskey a Go Go who wanted to stop any confusion with the Velvet Undergrounds John Cale. RIP JJ
JJ Cale was so laid back and non-materialistic that even though he was a multimillionaire by the time of this video, you sure as hell couldn't tell as JJ liked to live a rather quiet and simple life and was NEVER a "Show-off" unlike the "stars" of today, JJ went to the sound of his own drum, very considerate and honest as the day is long!

Thanks for uploading this superb footage, Tony. Unusual to see JJ playing with a plectrum. RIP JJ, musical genius.
I absolutely love this version of Lies - have been looking for an audio version with much success.

so glad you like the upload, JJ was a true Marvel, laidback but brilliant & true, the plectrum playing I had NOT seen any early video footage that I can recall at least with him using one, good spot! I uploaded the second part today, I hope you saw it, AMAZING! cheers beardieweirdie

so true!
Nice clip and thanks for sharing. Although the venue shot of the crowd and the street shot of JJ are most definitely Vancouver, BC.
Thanks for that, i'll add to the description!
Haven't this one before. As always the man is super cool and groovy.
Great find! Thanks for the share. This is a new one to me :)

JJ never overplayed his solos
Merci....👍👌
Tank you Tony
THANK YOU for sharing this very unique and unusual video of the MAN himself - writer of many HITS for Lynyrd Skynyrd and Eric Clapton, etc. etc. I had a vinyl album by him about thirty or so years ago the cover of which was a photo of JJ sitting in a lawn chair in front of a small camper trailer, on the shoulder of the road as I remember. He obviously does not relish fame so I am not going to share this clip but thanks again..... A Dios....
immense
