Lots of respect to the legend. I haven’t had this amount of respect towards him until now. No editing no nothing. He misses and he continues. Respect ❤
The best thing about this, at least for me, was you showing your misses. We all do it, and it's nice to know the best can still get ot wrong occasionally
Been following Hendry since early nineties and he was always cool as a cucumber and great temperament. I'm a big fan of Jimmy but have tremendously respect for Hendry for his professionalism and sportsmanship. In this video, he said "when I was good" shows how humble and genuine this man is. Hendry has nothing to proof, he had won everything there is in the game, including our hearts and I will continue to support him. Keep these delightful videos coming! ( Sending my best wishes from Singapore)
You're still great Stephen and you always will be. These one on one sessions are invaluable and my favourite of your videos. Thanks for giving us this quality content free of charge
I was dazzled by Steven in the late 90s and not much has changed. Even when you pull the curtain back I am still amazed. Unfortunately I haven't been on a snooker table since I left Canada in 2005 and have always missed it. Three weeks ago I purchase a table out of Canada.
The added video footage illustrating the position of the red dot on the cue ball is extremely helpful. Hendry is articulate and his explanation before executing each stroke serves as great commentary and riveting tutorial. Not only a true legend of the green baize but a natural teacher as well. Thank you!
I haven’t played snooker for over 25 years but just this week my friend and I went to a club, local in norwich, my safety play was always good but my potting ability was week, could only manage to pot 4 balls together at the most, I will try this routine on my own, thank you so much Stephen for your help 🎱🎱🎱
"The fact he puts in his misses and doesn’t edit them out speaks volumes of the man" ... Completely agree. Love your videos Stephen. You are one of the best snooker players the world has produced. Thank you very much.
The final blue that was potted in this video wasn't respotted, glad to see that i'm not the only one who forgets to respot a colour after potting it :) I am loving these videos 😎
I wish I had known these tips when I played you at Ingleston (Edinburgh) when we were both about 14 years old. You slaughtered me of course... I had never had a snooker lesson in my life. Still my "claim to fame." Being thrashed by Stephen Hendry was no great shame... since you went on to become 7 times world champion 😂!!
I wish snooker was more popular in the US. I am so addicted to this game, and I'm not sure if I'll ever get to play it out in rural America. Regardless, from you and so many other channels, my pool game has become so much better. Keep up the work, Champ! Love the content
Snooker fans in the States should rally together to open some snooker clubs with decent tables and maybe make some youtube channels etc to gain more fans.
@@DM-kv9kj there are a lot of tables in bigger cities, just out here in the sticks is 7ft barbox 8 and 9 ball mostly. Some 9ft tables but nothing satisfies that itch lol
This kind of material is what snooker needs to make it more interesting to young people, when I was growing up there were snooker clubs everywhere, then they became pool halls, I know snooker players have never been in the same lime light as other sport stars like footballers but this vid gave me so much motivation to go for a game of snooker that I'm literally off to go play snooker, if it inspires a 40 yo I can only imagine what it might do for that 15 yo kid who wants to learn more about this great sport, keep up the great work absolutely love this channel!
Hi Steven You have got your presentation format absolutely perfect , together with the ambience of your studio. What a pleasant environment you have created. Thanks. Doc.
I like the bit when he first missed and said start again. Great lesson in that. Perfect practice makes perfect. Always pushing to be better, never settling for anything less than 100%. Great stuff.
The best snooker channel on here. Insights and observations galore from all participants. As a billiards player it's great to here of SM's interest, he should ask Aonghus McAnally about his ideas for some billiards and snooker matches involving Causier, Ghilchrist and others including him.
This is excellent. I so much appreciate that you are truly focused on people learning from you, what works, what doesn't and to keep going, without making edits. This is gold compared to numerous other 30 seconds videos showing miraculous trick shots where the viewer learns almost nothing.
It was technically "end of break" when he potted the red before the black as he forgot to respot the blue. 😂 I could watch these all day, Stephen. I don't play anymore, but 13/14 year-old me would've absolutely loved these videos. Thanks so much for making these videos. I saw you at the Crucible in your '97 Semi-Final. I was 16 at the time. You were my sporting hero. I'll never foget staying up late to watch you beat O'sullivan in the Liverpool Victoria Charity Challenge tournament with a 147 in the deciding frame! One of the best displays of snooker I've ever witnessed (from both of you). To this day, I'd still pick you over any other player to clear the table when the balls are awkardly positioned, you were an absolute master break-builder. At your best, you were the best of all time.
“….when I was, , when I was good” -Mr Hendry, I never knew you have such a lovely personality before. You are top in teaching snooker too, and not to mention it is for free.
I spent days of my life doing this routine in the 80s and early 90s. My best was a missed green for a 102 break. It really puts you under pressure because you keep having to reset the balls, hours were lost! I haven't played for 20 years and this kind of video whets the appetite. Just don't think my eyes are up to it any more.
Thanks so much Stephen, for the willingness to share your wisdom with the world! At some point in the future, I would really love to see a video about how to assess which type of side spin to use to get to certain positions on the table (you gave a small teaser there at 10:50). There are so many factors to consider when using side spin, especially because you can also combine side spin with top spin and back spin, and because the power of your shot affects where you need to aim on the object ball.
Stephen mentioned the poin on the object ball a few times in commentary today at the masters on BBC. It's like he was talking to us, his YT followers and students.
Sad bit about discovering your excellent channel Stephen, is there are no snooker clubs within many miles of where I live and I've definitely got a yen to play again. So thanks for that mate ;)
5:00. Just the fact that Henry missed that black one twice just shows how bloody difficult this game is. It looks like an easy shot for a pro but nothing in snooker is easy.
This video encouraged me enormously. It shows that even one of the greatest players in the history of the game doesn't pot every ball if he isn't practicing heavily, so us mere mortals only playing once a week sure as hell won't. Thanks to tips from Stephen and one or two others, I've actually started keeping score on my line-up drills! Last year I was potting so few I could remember them!
Stephen, I wanted to let you know that as much as I enjoyed watching you play Snooker, your UA-cam videos mean more to me as a fan. I get to know you as a person, my hero growing up, which is awesome!
hands down the best exercise for proper pose - I suffered through this a lot around the time Mr. Hendry was busy setting records at the crucible - this new channel is amazing - thank you!
I love the game, and really respect Mr Hendry as one of the greatest - please keep on putting out videos, they are invaluable to people such as myself. - in the miniscule off chance this gets through - Thank you Stephen.
Well I hardly ever have the problem of complacency creepin' in during snooker practice, so I guess in a way I'm blessed in that sense 😄 Thanks for the great content!
Great video. Straightforward, clear instructions, insightful sidenotes, and a continuously amazing Stephen Hendry to guide us. I have just found your channel a few weeks ago, and as I was always a big fan, I keep watching your content. Hope there will be many more new videos coming up.
Thanks for this, Stephen! I can really sympathise with you about accepting that you're not as good as you were once. For someone who won the World Championship 5 times in a row, to now showing us that you make mistakes like anyone else is amazing!
Thank you Stephen. Very nicely explained and easy to understand and follow. What I picked up in particular today (which I never thought about), if you move your bridge hand closer, you can gain more accuracy; distance apart and you are able to generate more power. Also really appreciate, no footage seems edited, but real time, even if you've missed a shot.

This is what i do now all the time, more difficult is placing three reds below the black, one on the cushion. When i play with two below the black and i mob them up it becomes easier after that. Great routine for becoming better.
Do you know what i like the most? The fact that Stephen doesn't hide the mistakes. But i've definitely found that starting again on the exercise's definitely helps for concentration and focus. He's done a video on it! If your putting right side on aim to miss the object ball to the left of the pocket and vice versa (to make up for the deviation of the cue ball due to hitting it off centre)
The fact he puts in his misses and doesn’t edit them out speak volumes of the man
